Nancy Grace reported last night on her Murdaugh special that the crime lab is currently testing a baseball bat. o_O

When first reading the report I looked up bb bats, blue and there were too many.

...

SLED agent Michael Moscal told the investigator about trace evidence found on Smith’s clothing consisting of around 10 1mm single layer blue paint chips, the report states. Moscal said while he needed more paint chips to pinpoint a particular vehicle, a computer database indicated the paint could be from an industrial tool, dumpster or sign post. He also said Toyota used this particular paint on its vehicles from 1982 to 1988, the report states.

Just thinking if it’s true that AM was involved in continuing operations it could be that the statement in the 911 call about “why did you get involved” (for the record I can’t hear that on the 911 call) could be pointing to that operation. PM being young and stupid also got involved and could have pissed off others involved in drugs. I still think, JMHO, that AM is going to spill the beans and is being protected as a witness. Think about the note passed to the judge, the DPOA and being able to go out of state to an unknown rehab while all this is going down. He is in hiding with LE’s help. I don’t believe he has a 20 year addiction to opiates. His recent loss of weight is from stress after finding his wife and son murdered. This is all MOO
I believe IIRC that paper the lawyer had the judge read and then wanted back, AM's lawyer said it was written by one of his doctors at rehab.

Unbelievable. Cause of death: natural? It was a wrongful death case according to insurance. No official autopsy. Alex approaches GS’s two sons and admits wrongdoing so no insurance investigation. Alex refers the two sons to an attorney who is also AM’s BFF and PM’s godfather. Settlement $$$ put into an account and all of it transferred to AM.

Seriously, about as dastardly as it gets. And come on, who "sues" themselves, especially involving a mysterious death?!! Huge red flag right there.

Plus, you'd think with that kind of millions in payout, the insurance companies would have done an investigation in spite of AM's instant admission of fault ... or especially because of it.

The heirs of the Murdaugh family housekeeper who died after an alleged trip-and-fall accident in 2018 have asked a judge to jail Alex Murdaugh, according to a Monday court filing.

Gloria Satterfield’s sons, Tony Satterfield and Brian Harriott, filed a motion for civil detention, asking for a court order “requiring the arrest and detention” of Alex Murdaugh until he returns “the property that he has that he has fraudulently embezzled from them,” according to the filing by their lawyer, Eric Bland.
The motion asks Judge Carmen Mullen or another judge for a hearing in which all parties will testify under oath. The motion puts more attention on one of the half-dozen investigations tied to the Murdaugh family.

Bland also said last week that he is turning the case over to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division for criminal investigation.

Good for them. Seems AM had BM calling in a million dollar mortgage to raise money. Why shouldn't those two sons go after it before it gets swallowed whole by lawyers. They unfortunately have their own lawyers to pay.

OK, Google earth is out of date. I see the long light colored building to the southwest of the long axis of the red building.
I assume that is the kennel.

I'm not sure but someone said in an earlier thread that there was possibly a caretaker's house on the property. When I clicked on the link you provided I was able to navigate to pictometry imagery and a 3/3/2011 image seems to show a driveway leading off one of the main 4157 moselle drives -that driveway seems to lead to the structure you're referring to.

Maybe the trees obscure the driveway connection in more recent photos. Here is a photo download from the pictometry.

Nice find. Thanks!

I missed the show and it's not being rebroadcast as far as I can find. A baseball bat was mentioned by the Smith family, IIRC After hearing that I remember thinking maybe the evidence of blue paint chips on Stephen's body were from a blue painted metal bat.

OMG is that what was found on Moselle property that reopened the Smith case!?

I take what the lawyer says with a grain of salt.

It was mentioned on NG that Fleming, AM and BM did not respond to a request for comment. No sh*t Sherlock.

Yes me too for sure, but that was in open court and I believe he was talking about AM's rehab and handed that paper from the doctor over for her to read.

Ah, GREAT! A winter photo with lots less foliage! Thank you, Clearskies, great sleuthing! :D

How stupid could you be to keep the bat. The interesting thing I took away from NG’s show last night was the fact that one of AM’s brothers who is an attorney called SS’ mother right after the coroner called to adviser her of her son’s death. I think they said he was at the scene of the crime at one point. Did anyone else catch that?

Yes, that was posted in one of the first threads but I had forgotten it.

Did you see Mallorys resting place? I thought it was sweet. It was odd to see the resting place of 5 individuals within one news show.

That’s definitely been covered in Mandy Matney’s podcast and fits news. RM (AM’s brother) was reportedly the 2nd call to SS mother after the official death notification and RM offered his legal services (pro Bono supposedly although I always thought it was maybe contingency).

And the irony of the Murdaughs refusing to be part of the investigation after RM’s offer to represent wasn’t taken.

Looks like Alex Murdaugh didn’t have a drug problem for 20 years, but a drug smuggling problem …JMO
I’m thinking the potential for AM having been involved with alleged drug smugglers gives us something else to consider related to the June murders. JMO

One of my first thoughts when folks were saying it seemed like PM was the target (with brutal, rage-filed shotgun blasts in his face) and MM seemingly collateral, was that PM who used drugs, had maybe done more than use and had gotten into the underworld or in over his head. (We do know he used from boating accident depositions.)

While I wondered about this with PM, I was still open to other older and younger men in family being involved in murder, esp AM, and when some sleuthers thought they heard AM crying to a deceased Paul during 911 recording, we learned MM wanted an audit, and then things broke over Labor Day, I basically put aside the PM target theory.

BUT now this drug stuff opens other ideas … someone who was partnered for many years with rumored drug runners might have gotten in over his head … an unhappy dealer, someone in organized crime or a gang, or a dissatisfied customer might have wanted to punish AM, retaliate, or give him a warning. Even with “Bowevils” dead, I imagine those lonely island shores are still in demand by certain other seafaring “business men.”

With all the character flaws we have noted for AM, I can’t see him actually pulling the trigger on his wife and child, but if MM had started to get suspicious and/or ask questions, maybe some off-shore associates might have been all too happy to help AM squelch that potential problem.

EDIT: Reading on after posting this, yes maybe PM had gotten involved. Additionally, with BM now have signing rights for his dad, who knows, maybe there was a family business with the two adult males, and a younger brother with impulse control wanted to get involved?

Lots of ways to consider this now.

I guess I am rambling a bit — just some musings.
MOO, MOO!
