I assume they'll say that they can't discuss the facts of the crime because of the ongoing investigation...but will they be asked where they were at the time of the killings? JMO.

If they don't ask then it would seem that the interview was only granted with restrictions. JMO.
Sadly we have seen that before from GMA (see Orrin and Orson West family interview).

This is the exact reporting now on the events of that evening. They started drinking on Murdaugh property.

7 P.M. FEB. 23, 2019 — SEVEN HOURS EARLIER

About an hour after dark, six friends, ages 18 to 20 — Beach; Cook; his cousin, Connor; Paul Murdaugh; and two others — prepare to launch a 17-foot Sea Hunt boat from the dock of property owned by Murdaugh’s family.

They have brought more than $45 worth of alcohol aboard, purchased earlier by Murdaugh using his older brother’s ID at a Parker’s convenience store in Ridgeland, a lawsuit filed by Beach’s mother alleges. The stash includes a 15-pack of Natural Light beer bought on special, the suit says.

Before leaving, the group drinks at “The Island,” a $1.45 million property owned by Murdaugh’s grandfather on Chechessee Creek, less than 2 miles from Parkers. And then the boat takes off..

The first destination is an oyster roast at Kristy and James Wood’s waterfront home on Paukie Island, about 20 nautical miles away and 7 miles from U.S. Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort.

James and Kristy Wood, principal of Brunson Elementary in the Hampton District One Schools, allow the boaters to drink at their house “despite (the minors’) growing intoxication” and knowing they would be driving the boat later that night, the civil suit says.

It’s unclear how long the group stays at the Woods’, but once they leave, intending to return to the Murdaugh property, they stop first at Beaufort’s Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, Anthony Cook, then 20, previously told The Island Packet.

2 A.M. FEB. 24
The group docks the boat downtown, and two of the boaters continue to drink, records show. They stop at Luther’s Rare & Well Done, described as “Beaufort’s best bar for nightlife and live entertainment” in the city’s 2019 Water Festival poster.

The boaters at the bar, already intoxicated, are served more alcohol, according to the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Beach and Cook sit on a large wooden swing facing the Broad River, waiting for the rest of the group, Cook told the newspaper.

The boaters, he recalled, leave downtown Beaufort about 2 a.m.

Murdaugh is driving, Cook told police. The two of them argue, Cook said, because Murdaugh is too intoxicated to drive.

They are 5.6 nautical miles from the R.C. Berkeley Bridge.

Thank you for this. IMO lots of liability here for the adults *allowing* underage peeps to drink as well. <modsnip>

This thread has turned into pages and pages of a rehash of the past. (Not even if it's connected. Just how it happened, who bought booze, where the adults were, etc...) Personally, I'd like to look for new developments in this case

Maybe GMA will rehash the boating accident the whole time instead of trying to find out what happened to Paul and Maggie.

I really wouldn’t have a problem with this. There needs to be plenty of sunlight on what passes for justice in that community IMO. It may be a strange coincidence of serial incompetence…but it may be something else. In any case, citizens deserve better.

Vigilante killings come about when people lose faith in equal application of the law. Perhaps it’s not ‘favoritism, but how many individuals could have top notch legal minds…who know every angle of the law…available to them almost immediately? Is that ‘equal application’ to be immediately so protected?

And the cousin who was Mallory’s boyfriend was particularly distraught. Did he and the others refuse to say who that driver was when LE arrived?

The boat crash may be incidental to these murders, but personally, I welcome the scrutiny for the benefit of the community. Meanwhile, after reading of all the official cars from the legal and judicial community in the grandfather’s funeral procession, I’m sure heaven and earth is being moved on behalf of the M family. As it should be…but as it also should have been for Mallory.

The Mallory Beach killing is a horrible thing & points to possible outrages below the surface of a safe community … but PM & his loving mother MM were just murdered in cold blood by unknown persons who are still on the loose. Any loss of life is tragic, especially young life, and in some ways IMO Mallory is a more innocent & sympathetic victim than PM …. but at least there was no apparent malice in PM’s actions that caused her death.

PM himself was hardly more than a kid, he was only a passive recipient of any favor accorded to him by a corrupt justice system. And I’m sure PM’s mother was devastated to hear of his role in Mallory’s death - not, say, cackling & high-fiving her husband cuz they knew PM would never really face justice…

I mean …. I know everyone here knows all this, and this double-murder is a sensational crime with virtually no info to pick over. But still …. let’s all remember that an imperfect victim is still a victim.

Obvs I have no idea what happened to MM & her son PM. At first it looked like LE had it all figured out …. now starting to seem like maybe they were just stunned & waiting to be told to move on it (told by who? other Murdaughs??) …. I really hope some new info starts to come out v soon so we all can take that up & try to sleuth out justice for MM & PM …. JMO

Just watched the GMA interview of 2 Murdaugh
brothers of AM.
Definitely a slick PR maneuver and appeared to
be done to elicit sympathy for M family.
One tidbit I hadn't heard before, remember the
media using the term "ironclad alibi" for AM?
Well one brother said on the night/evening of the murders AM took his father to the hospital
and then afterwards went to visit with his mother. So sounds like his own mother is his
'ironclad alibi'.
MOO, they need to continue investigating AM
and the state of their marriage.

Gray did a show about this 2 days ago, if it hasn't been posted yet.

And another one, with a better timeline, last night:

*I've been travelling to the USA for the last 24+ hrs, and missed many pages of this thread, so apologies if it's already been posted.

We would all like to discuss new developments in the case, however, this one like so many others is short on new developments, so we do rehash - just like most of the other cases until there is new info. I haven't read a thread yet that's not full of old info being discussed and I've been on WS for years.

Man charged in deadly Intracoastal Waterway boating accident set for court appearance

Look at how quickly this case moved along….

Why would the family need a PR type interview?

And he was on house arrest. PM's case was being purposely slow walked, imo. Another point, had there not been a death from the Beaufort boating accident there is little doubt in my mind that it would have been swept under the rug and very few would have known about it. The injured would have quietly gotten a nice pay off and everyone would have moved on with life. The night it happened it was all about damage control from the very beginning. MOO

Does this mean AM was not out shooting at the time of the murders? MOO

Brothers of prominent South Carolina family speak out after 2 relatives found dead

To be clear, neither of the brothers stated anything on camera regarding where AM was that night prior to finding MM and PM shot dead. The reporter, at the introduction of this story, is the one who said “that day” AM “took his dying father back to the hospital”. This is not included in the written news item at the link.

IMO, there's been a lot of backlash against the M family due to, not only the boating incident,
<modsnip> some locals believe this family have skirted
responsibility on some serious shenanigans
for many years. It's being alleged that their money and power have influenced what goes on in several counties over the years.
Even on GMA this morning, one Murdaugh brother scoffed at their family being called
a "Dynasty". He says they're just normal folks.
OK.

Agree. Thank you for this post.

GMA interview notes:
  • Reporter says family says "AM had just" taken ailing father "back to the hospital" and gone to check on his mother when he returned home to make the gruesome discovery.
  • JMM said he got call from AM that Monday night: "Come as fast as you can. Paul and Maggie have been hurt." (BBM)
  • JMM says Paul had been receiving threats from strangers. JMM did not think they were credible or would have reported them. Now says he may have made a mistake.
  • Reporter says our team did see SLED searching a swamp near that crime scene.
Family of slain South Carolina mother and son break silence
    My thoughts:

    1) Since Daily Mail was the only outlet to say AM was out shooting, I have wondered if they got that wrong through sloppiness. (They read "out shooting" when it actually was that AM said he was "out at the time of the shooting")
    2) re: use of the word HURT - I have wondered if one of the victims might have been alive when found by AM and perhaps even able to speak or convey something and that was why the family just pleaded for patience at first. But then again, maybe not and maybe AM just said "hurt" on the phone for other reasons (like still in shock/ he hadn't accepted it or wanted his brother to drive safely or something).

Unfortunately, there aren't any new developments being released by SLED. We know very little facts other than time of 911 around 10 pm call by AM and a statement saying both victims died of gunshot wounds.

I believe the discussion of the boating accident is an attempt in finding a possible motive for PM and his mother being brutally murdered.

MOO

Maybe tracking down the threats will provide some leads:

Since the wreck, Paul had been receiving online threats from strangers that were "bothersome" but weren't believed to be "credible," according to Randy and John.

Wondering where AM was when he made the 911 call. Did he stay at the scene or leave for fear of being shot too? JMO.

That interview was very genuine, I'm glad they spoke to the public.
