I didn't understand Poot's point that AM couldn't have done it because Maggie's phone was found half mile away and that AM was calling her. 'He would have had to be Houdini.' What?
That was a foolish comment by this attorney.

I'm sorry, but the constant repeating of how gruesome the scene is to try and make the jury believe that a father and husband couldn't do that is ridiculous. It's been proven time and time again that people are capable of doing horrific things to people they supposedly love.
Unfortunately this seems to be DH’s mantra…expect more…

Yeah, I need to play that part back again -- did not understand that point.

Is the blonde sitting behind the Defense table AM's sister? Her facial expressions have been interesting during these opening statements.
I believe it is his sister Lynn

Really Dick? Talking about how irresponsible PM was with guns?

Poot shot himself in the foot. Paul recorded video at the kennels at 8:44& 55 seconds. In that video you'll hearing Paul, Maggie and Alex's voices. "He was at the murder scene with the two victims." 8:49 & 1 second Paul's phones locks forever. 8:49 & 31 seconds Maggie's phone locks.

DH: Fact that if AM was down at the dog kennels that night didn't really matter.

  • #288
Defense opening: call me underwhelmed. JMO.

Dick talking about no blood found on Alex's clothes. Well duh, he's changed and disposed of them already. Oh and I'm sure he washed his hands so there was no GSR to be found on his hands.

MOO
This is poor workings for this atty.

Liar, liar pants on fire -- way to bring on the drama, Dick!:rolleyes:

Murdaugh Murders trial: In his opening statement, defense attorney Dick Harpootlian is giving super gruesome details of the murders of Maggie and Paul. I think the strategy here is the more horrific the crime, the less likely the jury would believe Alex killed his wife and son.

DH: Maggie was running. What was she running from?

ummm...her husband who just shot her son??

  • #292
Oh Jeez, here comes the 2 shooter theory, that dog don't hunt Dick. Wow, didn't stay on the point but a second.

MOO

MOO - The theory about there being 2 shooters because 2 separate guns were used - I believe it was possible for there to be one shooter who used two guns because it was faster to use two guns that were already loaded instead of taking the time to reload one gun. JMO.

Weak defense opening, moo.

Poots testifying as to what a witness will say. That it was a tarp the witness saw...not a raincoat.
Objection sustained.

  • #298
Judge had to give Dick a little 'sustained', good.

  • #299
DH: cell phone records are not necessarily accurate. Regardless, they will not say that they will say that he killed them.

  • #300
He’s using that “butcher” word again. They were shot.
