I think that in addition to creating an alibi, he visited his mother because there are times in our lives when we need the comfort and forgiveness that a mother gives us. A mother loves us when we least deserve to be loved. His mother wasn't in any condition to give him that. Laying beside her would be the closest he could come to feeling the comfort. Looking at the visit in that context, I see the visit as a silent confession of an unspeakable act that can never be spoken.

jmo
Miss Shelly said he was messing with his phone the whole time. My cynical self says he just used her as an alibi.

And it burns me up that his dad was taken to the hospital with days (if that) to live, and Alex just stayed at PMPED, working more criminal angles to “solve” his boat case issues. His dad was dying! He didn’t even care. Oh wait, he probably did care, but only because of inheritance. I hope he got nada from his dad.

Apparently not so for inanimate objects per SLED expert Fletcher. It can remain indefinitely until it's actively removed.
I understand as long as it's not disturbed. I would imagine a seat belt would be desturbed often. At least that's what it sounds like.

What a wonderful, confident, concise Expert GSR witness for the State. Her testimony is damning IMO. The women today (her and CFO of PMPED) have really brought it today.

MOO
Yes, and prosecution was right on target. Determined. And ready for the fight. It makes one sit on the edge of our chairs.

U boy!! "...while wearing the coat inside-out, or wrapping the jacket around “objects with a high amount of GSR on them.”

So in the tree video we can see he doesn't have a t-shirt on underneath. Since he went tree looking and shooting with Psul, then he was wearing the pants and the button up shirt. Those clothes would have gsr on them NOT the t-shirt and shorts.
Correct. Those clothes he was wearing then would have the residue and conveniently those clothes are MIA. There is no gun in that video either. We only have a story from AM that Paul shot twice and he shot once. The defense will likely try to get the idea across that the GSR came from the shotgun AM was holding when LE arrived. They will ask and infer that GSR can stay on a firearm for an indefinite amount of time; can transfer to whomever picks it up next, and LE doesn't know who or when that shotgun was last fired. Somehow they will need to show that the Murdaughs didn't clean their expensive firearms after using them.

jmo and guess

See, no GSR on his shoes. He walked all over the crime scene around Maggie & Paul (to say the least)…imo this alone shows he changed his shoes
100%! We need a two thumbs up option.

Why did he leave the coat and tarp there? I wonder if he forgot that he left them there.

Surprised AM didn’t make a list of to do!
Thought he was smart enough to never get caught at anything! But he’s not!

And just to slide DH off his rocker, I really wanted the prosecutor to state the rain-poncho/jacket was rolled up in the "tarp" the defense claims AM was carrying! ;)

[…]

Defense attorneys asked the judge to prevent further testimony about the raincoat after the caretaker for Murdaugh's ailing mother testified that she saw him bring a “blue something, looked like a tarp” into his mother's home nine days after the killings.

State agents got a search warrant four months after the killings and found a tarp but also a blue rain jacket.

State Law Enforcement Agent Megan Fletcher testified she found a large amount of gunshot residue inside the jacket and said it was consistent with either firing a gun while wearing it inside out or being wrapped around a recently fired weapon. Court ended Tuesday before she could be cross examined.

Defense attorneys said prosecutors didn't connect the jacket to Murdaugh through the caretaker's confusing testimony and that it would be unfair and harmful to his case to let state agents testify about what the testing on the jacket found. Witnesses have testified the Murdaugh family constently shot guns and hunted on their property and the residue can't be linked to a specific weapon.

The defense did an “effective job in cross-examination in raising questions as to the credibility of the witness. And that is the exact job the jury has to do — weigh the credibility of the witness,” the judge said.

Jurors hear about blue rain jacket in Alex Murdaugh trial

Dick certainly isn't demonstrating the spunk he's well known for. IMO, he's looking just plain tired.
MOO

I’m thinking he might be resigned to it now because he is saving his gusto for an appeal.

So Mrs. Smith sees AM come in w/ balled up blue tarp/raincoat, me thinks that the guns were in raincoat, so what did he do with the guns before he got to Momma’s?

Or maybe someone told him he was acting like a fool and not impressing anyone and because he can't do anything differently he has taken a second chair. The thing it is obvious to most who know how he normally handles a trial. Me thinks it might be the judge who set him down. Judge Newman will not put up with a circus in his courtroom.
