From a Shocking Murder to a Botched Assisted Suicide: Everything to Know About the Murdaugh Case
Since the wife and son of a prominent South Carolina legal family were murdered in June 2021, the case has taken shocking twists and turns.
I think it was because Alex was still being evasive about the timeline even though he was being re-asked specific questions about it.The Solictitor's office should have been removed from the investigation almost immediately. I believe that strangled the investigation, especially concerning Almeda. Good ol' boys ruled.
So what do you think in that 3rd interview tape was the thing that finally made Duffy Stone think, Oh dang it, I need to recuse? My guess, it was the four direct questions at the end that did it.
Another oddity: they rode in different, separate trucks? Shooting? If they were both shooting, why is there no Gun Residue on him? which guns did they each use? What happened to the guns afterward? Did that actually happen? Timeline issues here regarding AW’s alibi.Quoting my post.
My mistake.
Watching interview now, AM says he and Paul rode around in white truck and blabk truck.
I don't think so, looks like a tree branch maybe?Watched the limp tree video, in the bottom right corner is that a bar on an atv?
The defense is usually fluid -- will assess where things lie and make a decision about whether to put on witnesses. JMO.
I think it was because Alex was still being evasive about the timeline even though he was being re-asked specific questions about it.
He couldn't (wouldn't) recall much about the day.
- He lied abou when he went to the office: He wouldn't say approximately when he went into the office (and lied to the early side). He only acknowledged that it might have been later once he said they could check the security entry device at the office.
- He lied about what time he went home. "Early" and then spent lots and lots and lots of time riding everywhere with Paul. SLED then told him that the secure entry device showed him entering at 5:30 pm and Richard had told them AM was still at the office when he left at 6pm. Alex sputtered at that..."well, I don't believe I was still there at 6 but if I was then I left very shortly after."
- He was told that leaving the office that late didn't jibe with 'riding around for 2 hours with Paul, having a nice family meal together and his statement that he hadn't seen PM/MM for a couple of hours before the 911 call. AM sputtered.
He was clearly lying about the entire timeline even though David Owen was asking him to clear up discrepancies. This evasiveness stamped him with 'prime suspect' in LE's mind. (As it should have.) And he still hadn't given LE a list of any missing weapons even though they had asked several times.
I agree. The defendant's own actions are usually as powerful as any other kind of evidence.
All the prosecution needs to do is introduce AM’s confession to AM’s orchestrated deception. No need for Ol’ Eddie to testify to anything. This episode goes to AM’s lying and overall manner of manipulation of evidence. Again. Got to keep it focused on the case of the murders of MM and PM.
Agreed people don't need a major reason to take another's life these days. They kill for the thrill, hurt feelings, road rage or getting soggy cold fries at a fast food restaurant, AM took this to a new level IMO. One's mind can be a beautiful thing or a down right scary thing it gets easier to connect the dots once we understand in this day and age, don't need much to take a life for some.Personally, I think there was plenty of motive. That day, Alex found out that his entire world was about to crumble around his feet because his financial crimes were about to become known to his law partners, his family, and the world. His son's crime brought dishonor to the family and was going to cost millions to defend. A civil suit would take any money that remained. He was robbing Peter to pay Paul. He was running through hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars in a few months trying to service all his debts. He was addicted to opiods. Tinsley (the Beach family lawyer) credibly told him that he was going to have to turn over the beach house and Moselle and that Alex could go on a payment plan to pay off the rest over time but that any settlement that the Beach family would agree to would be substantially more than the value of those two properties. There may be other things that we don't even know about (personally, I think he may have been blackmailed). The house of cards he had built over two decades was about to come crashing down.
But the fact that his life was in freefall aside, people don't need reasons that make sense to us to kill. Bryan Kohberger seems to have killed four students for no good reason, Susan Smith (the last huge case in SC) killed her kids for no reason, Brian Laundrie killed Gabby Petito for no reason. I don't know why Alex Murdaugh needs a better reason than countless other killers.
MOO
This is what concerns me most, AM has access to people with deep pockets who have chosen to defend him. DH's wife JH is Ambassador to Slovenia appointed by President JB. DH is a Democratic Senator.I missed the afternoon I had a Doctor appointment in the next town this afternoon. I am trying to catch up but not sure it will be done tonight.
Someone is forking out money. $20000 a week for the team.

Agreed. I don't think it's advisable for cousin Eddie to testify ... it would come in to question whether he's credible and/or believable. imoAll the prosecution needs to do is introduce AM’s confession to AM’s orchestrated deception. No need for Ol’ Eddie to testify to anything. This episode goes to AM’s lying and overall manner of manipulation of evidence. Again. Got to keep it focused on the case of the murders of MM and PM.
