It seems like defense wanted the roadside incident in. I don’t think they were oblivious to the fact that the judge would construe their questions as “opening the door.” I’m curious why they wanted it in?
I agree with this.
Its like they wanted to 'open the door' to allow questioning of it but under their terms.
I wonder why?

Question of the day: Will we ever see AM handcuffs?
Personally I don't need the barrels of smoking guns AM has shown at every turn why he is the suspect. Yes he has lied but when you keep thrown one on top of another like your stacking wood then run around acting shifty with every move your just stacking that wood for your own Funeral Pyre. Most innocent folk will stand still and give what is needed to free themselves from suspect lineup not run amoke starting signal fires with everything they touch. Handcuffs if the powers that be see it the same way.

Yes. And the prosecution needs to make sure they have everything admitted just in case the defense decides to rest without putting on a case. It would be a disaster if they decide to hold something important for rebuttal and the defense rests.
Waters is very smart and experienced. He wouldn't make a mistake like that.

This is what concerns me most, AM has access to people with deep pockets who have chosen to defend him. DH's wife JH is Ambassador to Slovenia appointed by President JB. DH is a Democratic Senator.

Hah, I promise I'm not wearing a tin foil hat. :) Just remember, Alex had Bank Presidents, fellow Attorneys, Judges, LE and many others doing his bidding or downright committing crimes in order to help him pull off his own financial cons.

I think they did not want Owen to testify about it. They wanted to wait until his direct exam was finished before opening the door. I could be wrong but I think the State was hoping to use Owen as their primary witness on it. JMO.

I agree, but yesterday when they put on the SCAGO phone expert, I wondered if that was in response to a late report from the defense's phone expert. But then I decided that didn't make sense because it seemed like the info would have been readily available to their first phone expert. Since what he testified to was super-important, I can't figure out why they didn't have their first phone expert testify to it unless there were thoughts to hold it for rebuttal but they changed their mind.

Indeed. He needed to step away from the shovel, but he just kept digging.....

Wondering what is going to happen this morning with Cousin Eddie in court. I know his lawyer, Aimee Zmroczek, is with him at the Lexington County Jail and is concerned for his safety.

#AlexMurdaugh's defense team,
@lawyergriffin and @Harpootlian4SC, obviously want prosecutors to call him. But, they don't have to to discuss Cousin Eddie and his relationship with AM

Creighton Waters obviously doesn't want to call him. He made that clear in court Tuesday. And, he said he can introduce stuff by calling a law enforcement witness

The defense wants to cross-examine Cousin Eddie. They want the state to own him and be able to rile him up.

My read on this: if the state doesn't call him, the defense will say: they state is hiding him from you or something like that. I could be wrong but that's my analysis

That's the dark side of this for sure, power and money can keep monsters running free among us. I do have a tin foil hat but only use it when those pesky China balloons fly over lol.

Court is back in session in a few minutes. I expect we will hear A LOT about the September 2021 roadside shooting, Alex Murdaugh's opioid use and Curtis "Cousin Eddie" Smith. But first! More cellphone data.

Remember that time we spent like an hour on Maggie's back-and-forth footprints in the sand at one of the Moselle sheds and then never addressed it again? Anyway.

Dick Harpootlian is overrated; my sense is that Alex lost confidence in him and benched him pretty much.
I’m not underestimating DH. He may appear to be a doddering, bumbling, fool, but I think he’s on top of everything strategically and will pull multiple tricks out of his hat. None of the defense team are stupid, and this is certainly not their first rodeo.

One thing I noticed about the phone expert yesterday - he was able to definitively say that Maggie's phone would not show an orientation change under certain conditions (meaning when it was thrown in the woods). The original phone witness was not able to do that when the defense cross-examined him. I think the phone expert yesterday was called to pin down some things that the original phone witness was unable to clear up. JMO.
