I have watched this trial hit and miss. Does anyone really think that AM is not guilty?

I think that one younger Goetee lady in the gallery with the resting b. face thinks he is.

I was leaning that way but it has changed for me. That timeline is just too close.

OK, I think all the posturing by the defense about whether or not AM will or will not take the stand is all for show, and to help AM paint the story exactly how he wants it.

I don't doubt that AM has been telling his family and flying monkeys that he wants to take the stand to proclaim his innocence loud and clear.

However, by the defense placing the burden on Judge Newman to rule whether or not the cross of AM can be limited due to his pending financial crimes and the wrongful death claim for the boat crash, AM will be able to blame Judge Newman for AM being unable to testify, and save face with his family and supporters that seem to like the flavor of kool-aid AM peddles. She spent much time in the fog as well.

Yep, she also said it was self-defense. They're going to have to get that same "expert" on to claim it was temporary amnesia.

I would also add that a major coincidence of a murderer missing him by minutes AND him orchestrating a "hit" on himself--willing to go to great lengths to have a non-lethal shot to the head screams that he would do almost anything to avoid taking responsibility for his illegal work and family crimes. He had to have been uber desperate to have a person shoot him in the back of his head AND think he had a chance at redemption because regardless of what happened his name would be tarnished forever. (I never thought he wanted to be dead--just wanted the suspicion off of himself to avoid anyone going to the legal system to charge him. Kind of like: "Feel bad for me as my family has been obliterated and I took a shot to the head and survived.")

Although the defense harps on how much the defense experts are paid by the defense, we need to remember that all of the state's experts are paid by the state, and those employed by the state not only get paid, they get benefits.

Harpootlian mentioned in a pre-trial article that they had spend over $100,000 on expert witnesses. He kept mentioning how expensive it was to fly in the shoeprint expert. It doesn't look like they got their money's worth. I'm sure they spent some money on a blood splatter expert who wasn't needed, however. Somehow I keep thinking that AM diverted some of that to a private account.
Harpootlian acting like over $100K spent on expert witnesses is a huge amount....that's laughable when compared to the amount the defense team is being paid. I doubt very seriously that the hourly rate for DH or JG is the paltry sum of $350. jmo

If my screen is locked and I throw my iPhone 11 nothing changes.

Interesting. I have Raise to Wake turned on my iPhone 14 Pro, and I just did some tests:
  • If the phone is lying flat and I pick it up from the top so that the phone is at a 45 degree or greater angle, the phone wakes up.
  • If I pick up the phone but keep it parallel to the ground, the phone does not wake up.
  • If I pick up the phone from the bottom, it does not wake up, even when the phone is at a greater than 45 degree angle.
  • If I pick up the phone so that one side is higher than the other, the phone does not wake up.
In other words, for the Raise to Wake feature to function when the phone is lying flat, the top of the phone must be higher than the bottom. If it's picked up in any other manner, the phone does not wake up.

I even tried throwing it and the phone didn't wake. (Not a significant distance, just a short toss onto my couch.)

Anyone with an iPhone want to try and replicate my test?

Wow. This should be good. I can hardly wait.
Stupid is and Stupid Does, and his Ego is soo Huge, I'd bet he won't listen to his Lawyers, and Blurt some BS he has spouted before, OR Blame ALL his Financial Misdeeds on???Drugs? BS!!! I'd bet He insisted on testifying. His over inflated Ego will shut him down! I hope and pray that he will be found Guilty, and serve the rest of his life in Prison, with the General Population. Gamblers will love him, but none else...From what I have heard, those in Prison treat child killers as they should...No personal knowledge, but MOO

As I'm sifting through post here taking in all's nuggets of gold I'm noticing more of these "I'm throwing my phone around but nothing happens" post popping up. No light's, no bells or whistles and by morning gonna be folks going in to get new phones lol. I'm going to take a phone head count in the morning and see whose phone made it through the night of abuse lol.

We heard from the CFO that every client that had money stolen from them had been paid back. I believe we heard from someone else (an attorney from the firm) that same thing. Now today we hear that there are still at least two outstanding payments that have not been made which means that not everyone had been paid back their stolen monies. Why has it taken this long? Are they negotiating how much they are paying back?

ETA I sure hope they are getting interest as well.

I understood the testimony by Ball to say the two clients were just discovered. Ball testified the firm recently found a note in the file that the client was receiving disbursements for two years from a settlement investment that they suspected was false and confirmed with the client this was not the case. MOO

I'm over here with my Samsung thinking I'm glad they were an Apple family because I'd be tempted.

I bet some on the jury are conducting their own little experiments also. After the conflicting info presented, it seems it should just cancel out and they should just not worry with what the phone was doing and more so that it was tossed on the route Alex drove out that night and Maggie ceased using that phone while Alex was still there and Paul ceased using his while Alex was still there.

The world is filled with phones flying around and by morning will be reports of a UFO invasion. The sky is blue, water is wet and AM took that phone and tossed it IMO.

The defense calls its eighth witness, Barbara Mixson, one of AM’s mother’s housekeepers and caregivers. She is 71. Still cares for Libby Murdaugh. Mixson was also called out on Murdaugh’s roadside shooting confession video for (allegedly) selling Murdaugh pills.

Mixson testifies she knows AM as well as one of her kids. Griffin: Do you love him like one of yours? Mixson: “I sure do.” Mixson testifies Maggie was like a daughter and a friend. They spoke every day.

Mixson testifies she called AM on the afternoon of 6/7/21 to ask him to come by Almeda later on that day because his mother was agitated after Randolph Murdaugh III (her husband) was taken to the hospital. That call was at 3:58 p.m.

“She was crying a lot. I couldn’t get her to eat. She was just agitated," Mixson said of Libby Murdaugh.

Griffin elicits testimony from Mixson that she worked 6/14/21-6/16/21, around the time Shelley Smith says she saw AM carry a “blue something” into Almeda. Griffin: “Did you see a tarp opened up anywhere in Miss Libby’s house?” M: “No, sir.” Not on a rocking chair? “No, sir.”

Griffin: Have you ever seen a blue tarp laid out? Mixson: “I’ve never seen a blue tarp laid out at the house.” Mixson steps down.
When Barbara Mixson was testifying (for the defense, as their witness) about how she's worked for AM's parents/the Murdaugh family for 42 years, AM and DH looked at eachother with a "wow, is that right? Yup! She trumps 'em all and really knows me" kind of look, like who could possibly question the woman who helped "raise" him, she has so much "cred".

Then when she responded to the defense questions about how dear he is to her and that she "loves him just like one of her own children", AM just "lit up like a Christmas Tree", which was the only time during this trial he had that kind of "happy face" listening to testimony about him, he was just beaming like a little kid who was forgiven for getting into the cookie jar, IMO.

I think it was pretty weak (for one person who's known him much of his life to attest to his "goodness") and the defense's case presented thus far has been underwhelming, but wouldn't put it past him (AM) to "hitch his wagon to that star" and think it would be his final curtain call to act out a persona for the jury that he was a "good ole boy" in the eyes of people who knew him well (whom he hasn't screwed over) if he testifies.

All MOO, of course.

I would love a read on the jury after todays testimony, were they paying attention to the "experts"?

So why do you think Alex took her phone? Was he trying to get into it? Was it laying on the gator (or go cart) she rode down in that night and he picked it up before he murdered them so she couldn't call for help? Did he forget he had it and then tossed it as he realized it would track all the way to Almeda with him. Strangers/revenge killers wouldn't take her phone so it's odd that he would stage that. It is one thing that is out of place and would have been better if he left it on her/with her/wherever it was. Was it an accident and he realized he had it and just tossed it out?

We know his intent seemed to be to blame someone seeking revenge for the boat accident. Was that always the plan or did he have some other plan in mind?

Very good cross by Meadors -- getting Mixon to admit she met with him a few weeks ago and did not tell him about the alleged convo she had with Alex on June 7 asking him to come over to check on his mother. JMO.
40+ years under the roof of the Murdaughs -- they own Ms. Mixson. It's that simple-- especially for her generation. JMO
