I am going off my experience as prior cop. Any call that's a hangup/unsure/obvious threat or crime would trigger police response in addition to medical. We also tend to like our EMTs and fire dawgs (sometimes ;)) so we don't want to send them into harm's way either if the scene is not secure.

I guess if someone did call in for help with a potential crime and dispatch sent only medical then this would be an epic fail of the system.
Glad to have your expertise here!

What about an alert from a medical-alert button that some people wear? Would that trigger police or just EMT?

This is only a theory......I don't know anything that you guys don't know.
IMO It's possible that LE doesn't think the public at large is in danger because they already have a suspect. Perhaps even someone who is being held on another charge at this time? We've seen it happen in other cases. They bring in a suspect on whatever charges they can muster until formal charges are filed.

Maybe the killer saw the car pulling in at 7, and was the one leaving at 7:04 as the driver of the car that pulled in finds the bodies as they come to work?

Are we putting too much emphasis on the medical call for help? Do we know what was said on the 911 call....maybe the person calling was in a panic and didn't relay the true situation accurately? Or maybe the person calling only noticed the heart attack victim and not the others until later?

IDK.

We need an accurate timeline, 911 call info, etc. Seems like this LE might be the tight-lipped type.

I listened to the 911 dispatcher again and she says "there's a cardiac arrest at this location with additional people with additional injuries, unknown how many or what the injuries are at this time."

Now that makes me wonder if there were 5 people in the building in addition to the killer. Four homicides and the fifth person suffered a Cardiac arrest. Unless one of the homicide victims was still alive and having a heart attack.

Info needed at this time -
1. When and in what order did the victims arrive at the crime scene ? Why no info on their vehicles being on CCTV ?
2.When did the killer arrive and leave the crime scene and were they driving a vehicle ?
3. The manner of the victim's deaths ?

<modsnip: discussing family members>

We may learn the manner of deaths, but I think LE is not gonna give us nothing else until this crime is solved, and it should be an easy one for LE, unless this was a total stranger done mass murder....moo

I wonder if an employee entered the building, found one person down and called 911 assuming it was a heart attack. Then while this person was on the phone with 911, he/she discovered the other bodies.

Thank you - that is helpful.

I think I need some Lego people, buildings, and trucks to try out possible configurations....

I'm sorry I'm behind and I'm working to catch up. Have the police ruled out an explosive device? Like a fatal package or something? And April 1. I hope that's just my imagination making nightmares.

As far as I know, LE hasn't even hinted at what they have ruled in or out.

Are there any MSM reports of Mr.Fuerher and the Cobbs being seen alive or talked to, from Friday evening after work, until their bodies were discovered ?....moo

Nothing is ruled in or out. I think "explosive" deserves to be add to the list of possibilities.

Business owner, 3 employees ID'd as those killed in Mandan, N.D. attack

April 2, 3:15pm

Ziegler did not say how the victims were killed. He said police were awaiting autopsy results and that authorities did not recover a weapon. He also would not say whether police have identified a potential motive. Yet he remained adamant that authorities do not believe the public is at risk, "based upon what we know at the crime scene."

"This incident was specific to the victims," Ziegler said. "We do not believe the public is in danger."

Ziegler identified the dead as owner Robert Fakler, 52; and employees Adam Fuehrer, 42, Lois Cobb, 45, and William Cobb, 50.

The Cobbs were married. Lois Cobb's daughter, Briann Miller, of Girard, Illinois, said her mom and stepdad had moved to North Dakota six years ago from Illinois and recently bought their dream home. She said authorities gave her no details on how they died.

"I just know that it was an attack," Miller said. "I don't know how it happened, what it happened with. I'm left in the dark still. None of this makes any sense. All I know is my parents are gone."

Lois Cobb was an account specialist and William Cobb a maintenance supervisor, according to the company's website.

Fuehrer worked in maintenance, according to his sister, Natascha Towne, who spoke briefly to The Associated Press on Monday when she showed up at the business in search of answers about his status. She could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.

I was just thinking .... because this was the end of the month / beginning of the new month, perhaps these employees were working on Sunday evening to finish up “the books.” And, that may have been common practice, thus other employees and/or tenants may have known about this practice.

Don’t ask me where I am going with this...perhaps someone else can finish this....

Usually an agent will contact you to assess the situation and relay the info to dispatch. The button is not an automatic dispatch. It's only an alert to the contracted company to try to get a hold of you because something's up.

Thanks. I'm giving up on the medical alert idea anyway...since the dispatcher info was posted above and it includes more information that could be known by just someone pushing a button.

So...who made that call?

My mind went the same way, Mercedes. Sunday evening meeting? Maybe over finances? End of quarter, as well as EOM. Moo

Maybe a discrepancy in the books, someone stealing from the company?

Websleuths is victim friendly. Please remember that family members of the deceased are considered victims unless/until LE officially announces otherwise. As per The Rules: Etiquette & Information, family, friends and loves ones are not to be sleuthed and discussion/insinuations of their potential involvement is not allowed.

"VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them. Posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public -- is not allowed. That does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media."

"This incident was specific to the victims," Ziegler said. "We do not believe the public is in danger."

Snipped.

LE is confident the crime was specific to the victims. Okay, what makes them think that? Was a message left? Like a disgruntled tenant wrote mean words that would be specific toward rent collectors? Or personal (love triangle, business dispute, etc) and someone left a note?

Or bodies arranged? I don't think so, but we don't know when the murders actually happened so there might have been time.

Perhaps it was caught on tape. I can picture a business having cameras at the door and perhaps even inside for security measures. Perhaps they handle cash at times, deal with angry renters, etc. So, maybe the murder is on video that LE has seen? (Geez, I hope this doesn't turn into a case like Missy Bever and SwatPerp.)

What else would indicate at the scene that the victims were specifically targeted?

Something else to keep in mind, depending on the size of the cabs on the truck arriving, other truck leaving, as many as 6 people could be in either truck.
