Shocking. CI was a medic in the military, got a nursing degree, and then graduated with honors from Palmer College. He moved back to ND and had a practice in Hazen, then Washburn.

His Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday office hours are 3 - 7:30 pm. That seems limited, but then again, how much chiropractic need is there in Washburn?

I wonder how much income he actually made. Did he not have April rent for his trailer and was upset? Was his office also an RJR-managed property? (The office property is not in CI’s name.)Just unbelievable.

Those hours are pretty common for chiropractors. They aren't usually open M-F 9-5. Appointments don't take long so they just kind squeeze them all together and assembly-line crank them out.

The neighborhood is described as an RV Park though. Sometimes people add onto the base unit and the trailers begin to look like houses. Also, many times a person or family owns the trailer, but leases the land. On RJR website, however, there is a listing for a trailer to rent in this specific park. (I posted link earlier. ) So apparently they do rent the units as well.
I wonder if they are also responsible for maintenance and other services as called for?

Isaak’s next door neighbor, D R, says he was in the neighborhood during the arrest. R says the police were prepared with many officers. When he saw that amount of law enforcement gathered, he says RJR was the first thing that came to his mind.

R says Isaak is a fairly well-known chiropractor in Washburn.

He says he’d watch Isaak’s dog from time to time, and never heard the him complain about RJR.

We do know that the management company took over running the Northview RV Park park just last summer.

Here is the trailer/unit available in same RV Park as where suspect lives. It seems to be either a rental or deed contract, which to me means you put money down, pay monthly on the loan and end up owning it..Someone correct me if that's inaccurate.

Another strange thing. He would take insurance but he would give a big discount for cash. So maybe it was a money thing but what amount of money is worth 4 lives.

Has anyone looked into the property management of the building where his business is located? Is it RJR?

I'm wondering if he was about to lose his business - that might anger someone even more than difficulties with housing. Or, maybe he was behind in rent in both business and housing. Maybe the stress of divorce and child support also kindled the fire for any anger he had toward landlords? Total speculation on my part.

VERY glad someone was caught and this didn't turn into an unsolved case!!. LE did know info and were piecing together the case. Good for them. (I tend to admire the strong silent type IRL....but as a WSer, I prefer info, lol.)

So....motive. What was he thinking, killing four people?

Using insurance companies for reimbursement of services can be a nightmare. Mr. Zecats deals with them with his clients (and he has a person who takes care of it for him - most of the time) and it's often a battle. He has less hair because of it. I could see that as a reason for CI preferring and encouraging cash payments. JMO

Yea its very strange this person was tagged by LE. Doesnt seem to be the typical stereotype for something like this.

I got confused about the videos too. Seems to imply that he drove up in his truck but then a company vehicle was seen leaving the property 4 minutes later. Maybe that was an employee escaping the killings and maybe the Dr. left in his own truck later. Its a little confusing about the vehicles seen. Would like to know where the company vehicle went and who was driving the RJR company vehicle.

We've never learned that, afaik, but it could have been a fortuitous crossing of a killer and an unaware worker. This company provides maintenance, shows rentals by appt, and probably meets with clients/ customers off campus. Could be the RJR truck was leaving for an early morning job or appt. If so, lucky him (her). JMO

If money is some part of the motive, twice in the health supplement from the local newspaper in 2015, it is stated that CI never wanted to run his own business. Could he have been just exceptionally bad at handling money and somehow turned it into the property managers fault in his mind?
Maybe he needed to have a second job to make it in small-town North Dakota?

I live in the city where he went to college, and am surprised I haven't heard of this.

Most chiropractors do not make all that much money, especially relative to physicians.

Probably could have made much more money as a registered nurse, but glad he got out of that line of business. I hate the thought that he would work among some of the most trust persons. Sickening.

I travelled 50 miles to see him. Most chiropractors your in an out in 5 min hed keep u there for an hour and crack absolutely everything . Most chiros all about money he actually cared. Never ever thought he would have been capable of anything like this

Will be curious if his time in the military had anything to do with this? Considering what you said about his personality.

One more thought and i am off to bed. Between hazen and washburn there are only 3 chiropractors. And they all do very well moneywise. The other 2 chiropractors drive new vehicles and live in very nice houses. Dr isaak drove a late 90s f150 and lives in a trailerpark. Something doesnt fit.

Just a thought, total speculation, I have been to places where they will use someone on site to do maintenance or be a contact for management for a discount in rent or pay. He lived there and had somewhat limited hours as a chiropractor. I wonder if he was the contact/light maintenance guy at the trailer park? If he took the truck, he may have had the right to... It is April 1st and turning over of rentals could be going on with painting to be done, yard clean-up after snow melt, etc. Sometimes they are just an emergency contact if you lock your key out, have an overflow of a toilet, etc.

I do not necessarily believe this and it is not my first theory but just thought I would mention it as a possibility. If they just took over the property, and it being 40 miles away, it would not be unusual to have an onsite person. Or maybe he was due pay and did not receive it?

Or he may have asked for some time on his rent but did not receive it.

I'm not able to find any links from RJR that they provide business rentals. Their website has rental listings and all are strictly residential. The business related part of their links appears to be for maintenance and property management only. Also the town of Washburn only has links for RJR in terms of residential rentals. Other services do not list Washburn. ALL IMO and based on looking at website and their offerings.

Note - reported that RJR only took on this property last summer. Curious who they took over from.

When I read that he went to work after murdering 4 people, I thought of Neil Entwistle. He was overwhelmed with debt, so he murdered his wife and infant daughter, returned to the UK and appeared to be unusually calm and relaxed.

At the time, the thinking was that his financial anxiety and stress was relieved through the murders, so he was able to continue as though nothing had happened.

That may be what happened here. Perhaps he was under extraordinary stress that was relieved by committing the murders.
