we are very blessed to have the warning systems we now have. Used to be a lot different.
Now meteoroligists can predict pretty well areas of danger (such as they predicted for this week) and then they can see when rotation begins and tornadoes are forming and hit the sirens. The lead times get better and better.
Problem is, when you live in a area that is tornado alley, storms that could produce tornadoes happen with increasing frequency. Many times the sirens go off and folks look at the sky, see nothing noteworthy and go on about their business. Sometimes and area (such as OK this week) is predicted to have possible serious weather but you can't just hide in your basement or shelter for 48, 72 hours. Life is happening as everyone keeps an eye on the weather.
I don't know the solution. Just observations.
