Sheriff refocuses Kyron investigation: a smaller task force will take over...

I just don't think they have enough hard evidence to prove that Terri did anything to or with Kyron. Period. Maybe everyone else can get all excited and think that her arrest is right around the corner, but I am too skeptical, I guess.
If they're looking at another 4 months in the investigation, it just doesn't sound too hopeful to me.

IIRC most murder cases are not clear-cut with a smoking gun and the perp. behind it.

If indeed there are cases or crimes that may be charged as a result of this case, is everyone still so safe in Portland that no one needs to be aware of anything in particular?

I guess the residents must be a very trusting, patient people, as I would be wanting much more information as to how, if at all, this case and anything resulting from it, miight affect the general population. I mean there could be a whole nest of criminals they are investigating, who still might find a way to commit more crimes.

There are some mixed messages here IMO.
“This case is further along than most people realize,” she [Lindstrand] said.
versus
Schrunk said investigators are prepared for a long-haul.
So are they close or aren't they?

“What would actually make the case is evidence that is clearcut,” Staton said.
versus
But the county fully expects a conclusion.
"We are going to try this case," Schrunk said.

With what, if they have no clear evidence to make the case?
“This case is farther along than most people realize,” Staton told alliance members.

versus
Despite more than 4,000 tips that have come into investigators, Schrunk said there is still no “smoking gun” that proves what happened to the missing boy.

“It is not a slam-dunk case,” Schrunk said.

If they don't know for sure what happened to the missing boy, how exactly is the case further along than most people realize?

BTW:
Is it a mistake by a reporter that the same quote is attributed to both Staton and Lindstrand or did they both say the same thing?

Or are they simply further along in ruling out some of those thousands of tips? There is no way to know what is meant by these phrases.

Twitter is saying a press conference is coming up.

KGWNews Sheriff's office to hold news conference on Kyron Horman case @ 4 PM

Multnomah Co. Sheriff Dan Staton will make a statement about the Kyron Horman case at 4 p.m. Watch it live on KATU TV and KATU.com.

via twitter.

On Katu site, it says they will make a statement.

I know I am a cynic of sorts, but I worked in an agency overseen by state government for years, one that was constantly in the public eye battling various charges (none of a life and death matter) and we had endless meetings that had no purpose other than to come up with key phrases to use for media purposes, ones that didn't really say anything at all but sounded official and promising. We even got to where we kept a log of certain phrases to be used again as needed. So I am very wary of official statements where not much info is provided yet the agency comes off sounding very confident and on top of things.

Thank you Donjeta, mixed messages is an understatement. Conflicting statements are what I'm reading. I'm so tired of these guys talking in circles! Aarrgh!

Thanks, Donjeta, for putting these statements together this way.

LE really is putting out a mixed message. I've never in my life followed a crime story so closely. Is this par for the course for LE to act this way? It does make sense that they would not want to tip their hand anymore than they have to. Couldn't the confusion be part of their game plan?

Whatever...I'm going back and forth with feeling positive and with feeling not positive at all.

My guess is that they think Terri hooked up with a hardened criminal type who assisted her, and researching him uncovered other cases.

Here we go loop de loo, here we go loop de lie.....
