It happened like 2/3 weeks ago now, they have just been remanded.

They told me to rest but I was like I have a 4 and 2 year old I can't sit about doing nothing

Sent from my 'alternate reality' using my hippocampus

Do you have a walking cast? I can't imagine being on crutches with two little ones!!! I was on crutches twice and cheated, especially with stairs. I was still young (15) and did not fully comprehend that by walking on that broken leg it could potentially not heal properly and have to be rebroken.

Wild must have really done a nasty job when he broke his ankle. He still has another three months before he is back to normal.

So, a reporter (HLN) retweeted one of Tara Kelley's tweets?

This is no fault of hers, but the fault of the media.

A sequestered jury might be the answer. No DUI's, rogue foreman (hopefully), tri-colors, and tweeters. :banghead:

Hope this clarifies things in terms of the Mark Eiglarsh tweet that was used as an exhibit in Nurmi's motion:

Image is big, but should not blow the margins.

Looks like some raccoons got into the garden and feasted on the corn. :(

Guess that means I better harvest whatever is ready, before they come back for another meal.

Motion filed today:

NOTE: MOTION FOR CHANGE OF VENUE

Some days I just can't believe she did what she did and she believed that she would get away with it.

They have got to be kidding :banghead: Where in the he(( do they think they can go? Who do they think they are? after five years what is the point? They are stalling for time. If Nurmi wants off so bad, why all this carp? I'd call their bluff and deny everything.:stormingmad: Even if she ever got an appeal with what she did to Travis no one would let her out! they'd have to be nuts to do so.:scared: Its time for the Judge to knock them down or get someone else to do it.. I am :stormingmad: there are I am sure many decent people in AZ. that could use help. She doesn't deserve any more help!!

Do you know for sure that the state offered her that deal? I' d be surprised they did, but unsurprised she wouldn't agree to it. I completely understand the A's and JM's determination to try again for the DP. Call me cruel and nasty, but I don't want her to have any hope whatsoever that she will ever get out. Let her live daily knowing positively that she will die in Perryville one way or the other.

------------
Hi, the whole story I believe is she was offered LWOP. She doesnt want that, wants a chace at out, Aint gonna happen so she'll accept no plea. I honest to God think she does not fully realize how viscious her attack on Travis was. She is only interested in getting out.:stormingmad:

I need to walk away from this horrible circus, not only is it taking too much of our money I'm spending too much of my time on it. Time to go bake something, BUT I know I will be back :-)

God, I hope I am not called to do time on this jury!

What does motion for change venue mean ?
I think it's about time for this to be over and she goes to prison either death are LWOP
this is going on and on

If she gets life with parole after 25 years, she could be out in 5 or 6 years , couldn't she? Half time reduced for good behavior plus time served before trial.

No, not at all. There is no parole in Arizona. Don't know how many times that's been said. Currently in Arizona Life is Life. The only difference between Life without *release* versus life with possible release after 25 years, if that at some time in the future Arizona decides to reinstate parole, only then could she get parole, and only after 25 years (less the 5 or 6 she's already served). And then it's not automatic.

Further from what I've read the "time off" calculation in Arizona is not very favorable to the inmate. I'll go do some research and see if I can find anything.

Oh Lord, I didn't know I needed a PhD to be able to understand Nurmi's tweeting motion. I still do not get his tweeting example...as far as who sent who and why...I don't have a lot of time right now, so I'm gonna come back to this tonight and study your analysis! Thanks!

Found this on a web site regarding sentencing in Arizona:
"However, if somebody is sentenced for a dangerous felony, a dangerous crime against children, a violent felony, or a sex crime they will serve their sentence day for day even if it is only the first felony conviction. Day for day means that if the judge sentences a defendant to prison, for example, 10 years in prison, that person will not get out of the Department of Corrections for 10 years. They will not get out early because of overcrowding and they will not get out early because they behaved well while in Department of Corrections custody. Day for day time is also called flat time."

source: http://www.hg.org/article.asp?id=21105

(end of quote)

There is something called 85% time, but that only applies to offenders who committed a non-violent crime. Some offenders can qualify for a 90 day early release (meaning 90 days ahead of the end of the sentence) but can't find what the qualifications are.

What CMJA needs is a needle in her arm.

Just a reminder, folks, that there is no such thing as parole in AZ. The hold-up is that there is a penalty for Life with possibility of RELEASE after 25 years. Otherwise, it's LWOP. At the original DP trial, Juan Martinez and the defense had an issue with this possibility. We know where both sides stand on this issue, for sure.

Thing is, there is no policy on the release after 25 years. Martinez was concerned (IMHO and from my faltering memory) that a mechanism for this could be put in place during the 25-year wait.

I have to wonder what kind of "deal" the defense wants. In the very far recesses of my brain, I believe there is a possibility that Jodi would like to get the charges/conviction reduced to Murder 2 with 25 or fewer years, period.

The reality is, that would never happen. If the new jury hangs, it will be up to JSS to decide. I really don't believe she would opt for the 25 year possibility.
Jodi is one dangerous, damaged woman. She needs to be locked up for the rest of her life to protect society.

I also read, back during the trial, that Lifers begin their confinement in solitary along with DP inmates. They have to earn their way out of there. I'm not sure of the number of years it takes in general, but recall something like 3-5.

BBM~ Exactly. If the second jury hangs in the PP phase, it's up to JSS. And she can also sentence to life with parole. :jail:

Has the Alexander family spoken up? Are they standing their ground on the DP? TIA.

:floorlaugh: Change of venue now? Is Jodi tired of the Phoenix courtroom?

Where does she want the PP held? SLC? :floorlaugh:

This woman is a piece of work... still a control freak after 5 years in Estrella.

Some days I just can't believe she did what she did and she believed that she would get away with it.

I don't think she believed she would get away with it per se. She believed she can manipulate and charm her snaky ways out of this.

And.... she never thought the camera would be found. I still don't know why she didn't ditch the camera with everything else.

1. It was Travis' and did not want anyone to know it had gone missing.
2. During her haste clean-up, the camera got tousled in the sheets.
3. She left it in there on purpose to expose Travis to the Mormon community.
