Well, the accountant filed our taxes and we owe so much money it is not even funny. We do not live large as my horse habit is bad enough. I am in a state of total shock. I really hope Congress gets their act together soon so that I don't feel bad for paying the government for whatever.

That's bad news, zuri .... sorry to hear that. :(

I stopped in Walmart today and all the Christmas stuff is on the shelves already, so Merry Christmas everyone :christmastree: :floorlaugh:

We had a late lunch at Burger King and they had the most delicious burger- called the Angry Whopper :stormingmad:. It had jalapeno peppers, jalapeno cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and some roasted potatoes- with this awesome sauce (?) on a sesame seed bun. I couldn't eat it all- it was so filling and spicy (but not so that you needed gallons of water). I need another one tomorrow :floorlaugh:

I dont like going into the stores when Christmas stuff is out. Makes me sad. I honor the time as birth of Christ it means a lot to me but decos' no. Please elaborate :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

I love Christmas, but I hate how it is so commercialized. I hate how the stores put out the decorations so far in advance and I hate that they make there workers go in on Thanksgiving and work Christmas Eve. Those days are meant for family and friends. Macy's is opening up at 8pm on Thanksgiving. It was in the news today. Grrrrrrrrr.... I could never work in retail, never. I would go absolutely postal.

BBM :floorlaugh: My older son received a present from "Santa" every Christmas morning until he got married. We always opened gifts from the family on Christmas Eve- after dinner, but my older son knew he would get a present from "Santa" in the AM. We did this because, even tho' I knew he didn't believe in Santa anymore, I wasn't a liar and there really is a Santa . I knew he knew it was me (we never spoke about it and "Santa" used only Santa wrapping), but- as I said- I'm not a liar :floorlaugh:.

I don't know the specific case, but it all ties into the whole process we have in the US and how important juries are. It really is fascinating and impressive when you stop and think about it. By and large, juries do take that responsibility very seriously and weigh the evidence in arriving at their verdict. If there is reasonable doubt, they will return a verdict of not guilty.

I do believe that jurors can be impartial, even if they have heard news reports on the case. Just like you, they know that they have not yet heard all of the facts and so it is important to keep an open mind.

This trial is the first one that I have followed closely since the trial opened and it really has forced me to think about any biases that I might have when it comes to the presumption of innocence, sufficient evidence to bring charges and the like. It was interesting to find that there are some prosecuting attorney's offices who have the attitude "let the jury decide"...IIRC, Philadelphia has that reputation.

There are leaps to judgement in crime investigation that can cause both detectives and prosecutors to be less than objective in pulling together their case. Innocent people have been found guilty, but by and large, our jury system does work.

When it comes to the case of CMJA, I have no doubt in my mind that she is guilty. I have tried every way I know how to try and find some possible way that her self-defense claim could be true and come up empty handed every time.

yea philly definitely has that reputation. i just got a jury summons for philly the other day but theres no way i'll get picked bc hubby is a cop, im so mad, i would love to be on a jury, plus we don't live in philly anymore we are in a suburb so i'm not sure why they still have me in the system. i cannot even begin to tell you how much overtime he makes bc of all the jury trials he has to testify for.

I loved Christmas when my children were younger. They believed in Santa for a very long time and Christmas morning was always magical. As the years passed, it was harder and harder to get them together to go pick out the Christmas tree. I loved decorating the tree and always bought ornaments in threes so they would each have an ornament collection to share with their own families when the time came.

I realized in 2009 when I was so sick, that it was really just my thing. No one went out and got a tree. No one put out the Department 56 villages. I think my husband did get a wreath, but I can't be sure. Now with the Christmas season arriving before Halloween, I am more bah humbug. It used to be so much fun.....

thank you kensie, I feel fine right now but dr said once the hormones really start dropping the emotions might start. he also said the feelings of loss can hit at anytime so although im not consumed with the emotional aspect of a miscarriage right now I know the other shoe could drop at any second. I'm lucky to have all you supportive ladies in here!

Molly, if they start dropping we are here for you Sweetie. You have lost a child no matter what the circumstances. We care. :blowkiss:

But people like to shop on Christmas Eve (procrastinators that they are  ) They like Black Friday, too.
If people would stop shopping on those days, IMO, the stores wouldn't be open.
It's not like when I was growing up- where the stores were closed on Sundays (Blue Sundays- I think? I don't remember) and holidays, but the stores were still open Christmas Eve.

Why don't you just do it for yourself ? It still could be just your thing- nothing wrong with that.

My kids still get their presents from Santa! I calligraphy all the tags with red pen and use paper I have hidden from view. I tell them now that Santa will bring 3 things that they want within reason. I use the Wisemen analogy now. They have to keep them within reason plus the cost of inflation. :floorlaugh: Wait until they learn that that number has diminished to one gift. The government awaits...

Unfortunately, I need help physically. I can't bend and reach like before. One of these Christmases...

I think it was called the Blue Law and I wish they would bring it back.
