Yoo-hoo [to empty space]! Again no one's here! Darn! Guess everyone is at the Oscars tonight.

Okay, fine! I'll just talk to myself . . .

I was just reading the CA thread: what an ever-growing 🤬🤬🤬 she is. What intrigues me about such "people" as CA and JA is their so very obvious (and creepy) narcissism. For example, if I were on trial or being forced to make a deposition, I would be shaking in my boots. But not those two, however. Both murderesses seem to think they're the smartest people in the room and act accordingly, even often "correcting" the attorneys also in the room.

I guess I'm raising the issue of narcissism because I was once married to one. And, even though I divorced him years ago, I'm still often dismayed by a narcissist's breezy attitude about what we (mere humans that we are) regard as the truth. For a narcissist, such notions as "truth" or "honesty" are simply piffle and can therefore be disregarded. They don't respect the truth the way we do. In fact, they don't respect much or anything. For example, I had to take my ex to court for non-payment of child support; when the judge asked him why he hadn't paid child support for over five years, he simply answered: "I forgot." (And the judge didn't say anything to that response; instead, she simply slightly lowered her glasses and stared at him for a long ten seconds or so and then raised her eyebrows--and then ordered him to pay the full amount--in full and immediately! Hah!)

Anyway, the narcissist ex--who remains the most fundamentally dishonest person I've ever encountered--never looked at his lies as lies. Instead, they were simply "reality corrections."

I'm somewhat haunted by such people, which is one reason why I'm here on WS. I just can't get my head around them.

Call me naive, I guess.

Was he happy at least? My son made the Dean's List the other day and, frankly, I've seen him more excited about 50 cents off coupon for Taco Belle. Aaarrrgghh! Fortunately, I'm excited enough for the both of us. But, really . . . . Men.

Was he happy. :sheesh: Just like your son. :aktion1:
He said he was "apathetic" about the whole thing. :banghead:

I could :princes: him.

I think he is thinking about this next phase of his life and may be frightened of all the work graduate school will entail- with the classes, teaching assistantships, and field assignments. :scared:

Too bad, as it takes the joy out of each level of success he reaches, IMO. It's only for 2 years (a drop in the bucket for one so young, IMO, but maybe he sees a hundred drops).

I am exciting for him - to actually get out there and "do" instead of just take classes.

They did offer him an assistantship or a fellowship in aging (which he is very interested in). The fellowship requires a 1000 word essay- due 3/10. Now I will have to :pullhair: and get the :thewhip: out so he meets the deadline. It's important to get either one because they offer paying him 1/2 tuition and a $5000 stipend to boot. Nothing to sneeze at, IMO, and less loans! Great opportunities.

After he graduates, I can relax. He's on his own after that because I feel I have done my job and everything after that is up to him. Thank goodness.

Thanks to all for your congrats: Kensie, Niner, Nymeria, Becky, Daisy, and G&AMom.

:tyou:

Did anyone (Becky - since there's only we two and 2 guests tonight ) watch the Red Carpet for the Academy Awards?

I wasn't impressed as everyone dressed quite demurely and it seemed that everyone was in beige/tan (my favorite colors).

Hi Becky :seeya:
I'm here.

Hi YEsorNO,

What? You're not watching the Oscars? Me, I don't watch them anymore because a) all the actresses look alike, and b) all the movies look alike.

Seriously, if you look at the greatest actresses over the twentieth century, their beauty becomes more and more narrowly defined. Nowadays they all (okay--most of them) strike me as insipid skinny blondes. I'll give a pass to Kate Blanchette (sp?), who I think is both beautiful and very talented.

:seeya:

I see Kensie is here with her Thanks button.

Hi Kensie. :seeya:

I will have to go check out the red carpet attire.

Kate Hudson looked awful. She is too flat chested to wear a v neck down to her waist.

Julia Roberts looked nice and I am not a fan of hers.

Wow, brad Pitt cut his hair!!!

The tall trees across the road from my house do not afford my satellite dish to pick up the major stations, so I cannot watch the Academy Awards anymore.
I feel the same way you do about the actresses and actors- they all look the same.

YEsorNO:

As for your son's reaction to the **very** good news. I wonder if his attitude is a cover for anxiety that he might fail? If so, that's pretty normal. (Although who can interpret the behaviour of the young male of the species?! When I watch my son and his male friends, I often feel like Dian Fossey.)

You could be right.

Nope. See above (I think--or maybe it's below.)

Cherlize Theron looked beautiful and very classic old Hollywood in her black dress.
So did Idina Menzel and Amy Adams.

I thought so too. Sandra bullock looked nice too.

Did you ever see Charlize in Monster? A great actress IMO.

Geezers gotta stay united! :seeya:

I want ice cream tonight, but we don't have any :(.
And we ate all the brownies my son made yesterday.

I have blue bell homemade vanilla ice cream if you want some. I am craving a dunkin doughnut doughnut.

I did. She really looked like Wornos, didn't she?
I think she is a great actress, too and a real beauty- not too skinny like the others.
