And this is for my mother, who is no longer here with me.
She had lilac bushes in the front windows of our house and in the Spring, when she opened the windows, the smell would be heavenly and permeate the entire house. Every time I smell lilacs, I see her. I miss her.

I found a horse trainer to help me get my mare up to speed who comes to my place!!!! YAY!
For all means and purposes, she looks to be about 7-8 months pregnant:loveyou: She lost 2 previous breedings at about 9 weeks and I was really getting bummed, but it looks like this last romantic encounter worked! Majorly crossing my fingers.
I miss having baby horses around so much!
Update on the BF: So the VA is still dragging their feet, CAT scan came back.....and the nurse gave him the results OVER THE PHONE. (this testing has been going on for a year, MAJOR stress) So she says there's white spots. SERIOUSLY? How come the neurologist and his primary care DR. aren't telling him?
Nurse says they may be from his previous alcoholism (17 years back). Not good enough.
He's waiting for another appointment...........:sigh:.........last week, he left the gate open and my 2 dogs took off. NOT good. That got me out there putting a big speed bump in the driveway....I hope that works! His memory is just BAD. Does it have anything to do with his Bipolar? IDK.
Last month I just pulled myself up and said, "I'm going to stop dedicating all this effort into his medical condition and get back to doing what I enjoy." Things have just gotten so far behind, put on the back burner, enough.
And my swans didn't incubate their 5 eggs sufficiently...urgh! 4 had partially developed, and one was infertile. Next year, collect and incubate in the incubator! :seeya:

You have swans??? Are they white or black?

Hope your horse has a wonderful baby. Maybe she'll have twins. How long are horses pregnant anyway?

I have Mute Swans, white, Juan and Juanita.....no connection to Juan, lol!

Heavens no, on the twins! Who was it last year who's daughter's horse or ? had twins? That's a rarity! That's just about the only thing that has never happened to the many horses that I've had in my life. Have had 2 mares that had rear "tail" presentation breach birth and lost both foals, once if rare, twice is crazy. One foal many years ago had sudden death syndrome, dropped dead the minute the vet's tail lights were out of sight, and another had CID, which occurs specifically in Arabs, died in 5 days. 2 older mares that developed chronic founder, one later developing Cushing's. Another mare had genetic hip disintegration from her sire's side that showed up in her mid 20's and left her unable to get up.
That's out of around 30 horses that had a permanent home for life with me, there were many that came and went, and 27 foals that my stud sired over the years. He was out of one of my mares. He turned 23 in April <---he's been my best bud, when he dies, I don't know how I'm going to handle it, but he could have another 10 excellent years in him!
Normal issues like colic? Heck, I don't think I've had to deal with that for 9 or 10 years.
My permanent residents live to 25-30 years of age, but other than my stud, I've outlived them all. When I've lost my dogs, it's pretty devastating, but horses live twice as long........you take for granted that they're not going to be with you forever.

That's a pic of Zubaz Mastr Blastr, my stud, and "Kissy", my mare, from last year. She came with the name "Enticing Kisses" so I'm kind of stuck with it, :floorlaugh: I still get confused on putting pics in posts!

What beautiful creatures, horses are. I just love their legs and manes (and eyes). Your 2 are wonderful.

Just came back from the Chinese buffet and I'm so stuffed, you could hang me on the wall. :floorlaugh:

It was a beautiful, sunny day, with just the right temps and cool breezes.

Heavenly day.

Hope everyone's day was just as glorious. :seeya:

Holy crap. That should read MRI. He had the CAT scan back in September.
Too much to do and the weather isn't cooperating, makes me discombobulated!:scared:

Yesterday was the glorious day from heaven.:sunshine:

Today was the horrendous day from helz. :dervish:

My son's car decided to have problems with it's brakes, so he call for an appointment to have the car looked at this afternoon. Our mechanic really didn't have time to look at the car, but he said "bring it in, we might have time to squeeze it in today"- if not today, he would definatly look at it on Tuesday- we would have to leave the car overnight. OK.

So that meant I had to follow my son to the repair shop----but my car wouldn't start! :tantrum:...We tried to jump-start it ourselves, but that didn't work, so I called AAA and they managed to start the car. He told us to run the car for an hour or so. We dropped my son's car off and decided to ride to K-Mart, which is 20 miles away. Something was obviously wrong the the %#&&% car alarm, as it kept on going off while we were driving. (I hate that alarm and I'm going to have it disconnected ASAP.:rocker:.. I mean, just who would try to steal my old car, anyway- even tho' it only has 53,000 miles and everything new inside? My older son bought it for me last year when the 1997 Cavalier was dying. :heartbeat:) I decided I needed more gas and the gas station was across the street from K-Mart. I filled up and then...........the car wouldn't start again  (and the %#&&%:burn: alarm keep going off!).

We had to call :help: AAA, again, and the AAA guy said that I needed a new battery."

But- it's a new battery!!!!"

Not any more, since I didn't use the car all winter, the battery is no good now.

But- I have a battery in my shed that I removed from my old, old 1997 Chevy Cavalier last year, I proceeded to tell him-(isn't that marvelous that I now have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier and could just use that one?

" No", he said. "since you left it in the shed- with no heat- it's not good either!" :nerves: He started the car and we decided to just go home and call our mechanic.

But----did I say "but" again?

Before the AAA guy left, he said that my inspection sticker was expired. "But- I said that's impossible. It's due for an inspection this month". But of course, he was correct. My old 1997 Cavalier's was due for inspection in May, not this 1998 Cavalier.:naughty: I had gotten confused. :scared:

The "new" Cavalier's inspection was due last November!!!! :thud:

I was so afraid on the ride home that the State Troopers:cop: would somehow know that my inspection sticker was expired. :scared:

My son said not to worry unless we got stopped for something- there's no "machine" that the Troopers had that would enable them to "see" that my inspection was expired.

What a ride home. I didn't need a $150 fine!

My son has an appointment at Binghamton Univ. (50 miles away) on Wednesday with his field advisor, so when we were home, he emailed her and canceled that appointment- because we didn't know what was up with both cars.

By the time we arrived home, our mechanic wasn't working anymore. :( I just hope my car starts tomorrow :crossfingers:, so I can beg my mechanic to inspect my car and put in a new battery (and disconnect the %&&$% alarm) or AAA will get another call.

To make a long story short :floorlaugh:.... What's that word that Bernina used?

Discombobulated- good word for me.

What a day!! (And I missed the JS trial and the Hulsey one, too.) :(

Just goes to show you-

"Some days you are the windshield, and some days you are the bug." (I don't know who said this, but it's very apropos here.)

Hi all, YESorNO I hope thats the end of it for you for awhile. Seems like it just wont go away. We are having storms, tornadoes, etc. been down the basement already, water up the gumpstump!! We've had water about 4 times in 47 years. Its running in streams to the sewer in the wash room.dry, dry, ground not absorbing at all. 3 funnels in the air right now. The media!! they had a poor guy out with an umbrella broadcasting, well the damm thing is practically stabbing him!! Lorain Ohio bad, large group moving east very slow dropping tons of water.

Stay safe, Nore! :loveyou:

This should be frantic Monday...I've been in three different counties today.... it started raining when we were was in Grapevine and chased us back to Dallas and up to Frisco..

I dropped a terracotta saucer last night (when we were re potting my plants) on my "long" toe. It throbbed all night, and I kept dragging the covers over it when I needed to stick my foot out because it was too hot.

Y/N, AURGH! I hate vehicles that don't cooperate!
See how they are? You give your car a nice rest over the winter, and then it doesn't start........well, I never! Shows you how ungrateful they are!:floorlaugh:

Nore, I thought it would be cool to be a tornado chaser.......NOT LIVE in a tornado area, just chase the suckers!
Isn't the name of one of those scientific gizmos "Toto"?
Lightbulb moment: The Wizard of Oz, THAT'S why I had the crazy idea of tornado chasing............the house in the funnel looked like so much..........FUN!
We get the occasional tornado here, I find it fascinating watching them, I just don't want to be in their way!

And "discombobulate" is really a word:http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/discombobulate but you probably know that cause spell check didn't attack you!:floorlaugh:

My mother is very frail too. It is so upsetting to see her so frail. She has no balance in one ear and looks totally drunk walking around. It is so upsetting seeing her so frail.

Glad you saw your mom SB.

What a crazy day Monday was for some of you! Nore, hope the storms didn't leave a mess for you. Our sirens went off, but the worst was all around us.

Y/N--- I hate car problems. Sorry to hear both you and the son had to have them on the same day. Hope you get your car up and running smoothly.

Kensie, my mom also has balance issues due to her deafness in one year. Now she is starting to fall-- not good when she is living alone with someone coming in a few times each week. She has COOD which causes many of her problems. She is finally talking of moving to a senior care apartment.

Ive had cars die over the winter too. I had one freeze up and ruined the starter even.

If you keep having trouble with a perfectly good battery dying it maybe because the alarm may be sucking juice from it. If I am not mistaken those alarms pull a certain amount of juice from the battery even when the car is off. Kind of like your dashboard clock would.

If I have to leave a car sit over the winter the first thing I do is pull the red power cord off the battery and tie it off to the side with string. But be very careful not to let it touch any metal. Sparks will fly and it could cause an explosion so you cant let the red lead touch any metal.

What this does is make sure the car doesnt suck juice from the battery. Then when I need the car again, i just hook back up that red terminal lead.

If the car is sitting outside then another good tip is to try to start the car at least every 3 or 4 weeks in the winter time. Things tend to freeze up if you let a car sit too long without running.

Anyway good luck with the car issues. They are frustrating.
