"Forgive me, as a former federal prosecutor for 17 years, it is hard to watch the Jodi Arias trial, not because she is guilty and deserves the death penalty but because of the incredibly poor performance by Judge Sherry Stephens. The trial has become a circus, and spun even more wildly out of control during jury deliberations...."

FYI-This former prosecutor doesn't like the way JSS handled the trial- thought he had some interesting points, I guess, since I'm not a lawyer.
------

Who he is:

"...Mr. Volkov spent 17 years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. As an Assistant US Attorney, he had over 75 jury trials and extensive federal court experience. He also served on the Senate and House Judiciary Committees as the chief crime and terrorism counsel for the respective committees. In addition, Mr. Volkov served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Office of Legislative Affairs of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and as a trial attorney in the DOJ’s Antitrust Division..."

WOW! I thought there were only the few of us here who thought this way about this judge! Interesting read!

Yes or No,
I got all the way in to the filing but could not read the filing. Just says on 8/21/2014 that motion was filed to request cameras in courtroom. I clicked but nothing came up. It was filed though by Party 001, and that is the defendant, Jodi.

You won't be able to read the filing- it's just saying that something was "filed".

When they actually have the "session" in court, then they post the "court minutes"- where you can actually read was was done in that session.

Hi Curious, I have a web page on my FB. page, Juan M.'s Offical webpage. IT is run by a woman
and very nice to Juan. He actually posts on there. Go to my page Noreen Simak and scroll way
down. The letter for the cameras is there. I just knew she'd do this once she became her own
attorney. I cant stay on here long as it is not my computer. Feel free to read or write there. I will
add you as a friend right now. Please say a prayer for my friends husband, he is gravely ill right now.
Take care, Nore

Morning grammie:seeya:

BBM That's what I thought, too-" interesting read" and another viewpoint to ponder. I think it's good to read/listen to professionals and how they see things.
I like to see other's viewpoints- it helps, sometimes, to develop my viewpoint (especially with someone who knows more about law and has the experience that I don't have.).

Thanks. I will have to write the steps down since I am on an iPad. My memory won't go past the first couple of steps. Ha. I sure liked that article by the former prosecutor and agree one hundred percent. This judge reminds me of judge Ito in Oj's trial. She has given the defense everything. And to those who say sheis worried about appeals, I say bull. We no longer have tough judges.

I agree. I had mentioned a couple weeks ago how the danger in allowing JA to get away with all the crap she is doing is that the judge herself is causing reasons for appealing this case. By not being stringent with the rules of what should NOT be allowed, the judge is actually opening up the door to valid appeals later on.

I firmly believe the judge is making some critical mistakes. Her thinking is if she gives JA everything she wants then there will be no basis for appeal, however, she is forgetting that by allowing JA to get away with things that should be forbidden, then the judge herself is opening up the door to valid appeals.

I cant recall specifics now, but there were some things during the first trial that I cringed at and was thinking at the time it should have legally been stopped. Maybe it was the tweeting during actual trial. She was being quoted in the tweets by others and she was/is passing info to tweets as quotes.

And even now, I think we are seeing it again with allowing delays that can legally be prevented. She also could have legally determined JA is not fit to be her own lawyer and I think that would have held up on any appeal. No legal experience and her past admission that she cant handle it. Valid legal arguments IMO to prevent her from acting as her own attorney.

Wondering at what point an outside judge or her boss will call the judge in for some counseling on this mess.

Morning Hatfield :seeya:

BBM I remember, when some/me were wondering if the judge had a "boss" over her, that AZlawyer said that there's always someone over her, but JSS runs her own court.
I do think that that former prosecutor had some valid points, too, and I'm turning my opinion of JSS to one of her not doing such a good job as I formally thought.

Here am I again....how do I look at Noreen's Facebook page without signing on as myself? I don't do Facebook and WS is the only forum I ever get on. Social media is scary to me but I want to read the article she told me about. Please help. Facebook is asking for my name, bday and email. That's private.

Good morning :-) I agree, I love reading/hearing others view, especially when it's different from mine.

Hatfield,
i think AZlawyer has to defend JSS. They both serve in AZ. That said, my opinion of JSS isn't personal. It is professional. She has run a shoddy courtroom, IMO, and soft pedals with JA....a convicted murderer.

Yea, AZlawyer is a great addition to WS and we all appreciate his/her valuable input.

It is totally understandable to not want to ever critisize the judge when having to work in the same state. The next case may have to be in front of that same judge. :)

I dont do facebook either and would love to read it. I think when people sign in with Facebook they get more privileges and can see stuff on certain facebook pages that we cannot see when we dont login to it.

Somone may have to post the document to Photobucket or some other spot and provide link to it. Or if there is another spot where it is that we can see it.

Nore I went to this link. I liked it. Has lots of good posts and information but the only letter I saw was Jodi's motion for continuance. I am going back to look again in case I missed it. Can you post the letter here from your page? Thank you.

Yorn...I went back to Nores post and she linked the page to Jauns Facebook support page. But it doesn't show a letter from Arias asking for cameras. That is the document I want to see. Nore has it on her facebookpage but I can't get there without signing in. :(
