For those who watched labor/birth of Kiko, do you remember Walter behaving like he did this time with Autumn? I don't remember him being so attentive.

Arias has a hearing this morning. Meanwhile I am in tears thinking about another life lost. We'll get back to deadbeat Jodi shortly I am sure.

I am so sorry to hear about the stillborn. My whole family has been watching and we decided to sleep last night.
They said Autumn is okay. Is that correct?
Bless you Autumn, Walter and Kiko.
I also hope they don't split them up. Kiko needs his Mom and Autumn needs him.
Is this what happened Sat night? The baby was so active that evening.
Bless you all for caring and the kindness of everyone watching here at WS.
My heart is broken.

Charterhouse, this happened last night, @ 2:30 am EST. Yes, Autumn is OK. She will stay separate from the others for a few days as a precaution. I don't think anything went wrong until during the birth itself.

My impression only, comparing this to her first born: Kiko came out encased in the sac until he was completely out. I personally never saw the sac this time, nor did I see the water burst. She was in the far stall and it was hard to tell exactly what was happening when I saw her early in the process. Kiko came out head and front feet first; when this one came out it appeared (to me) to be back feet first which is a worry. I think I saw too much blood when they moved the camera off her (JMO) and did whatever they do to help a giraffe during birth. They don't like to interfere and giving a giraffe anesthetic is tricky. The area where Autumn was seems so small for working in (maybe not). I am curious as to what/how they were able to help.

An an autopsy is scheduled. Maybe we will learn more after that.

My husband and I raise beef cattle. Unfortunately, still births are not uncommon..rare, but happen. The momma cow grieves. She keeps calling her calf. Mommas have a special moo sound when they talk to their calves which is so sweet, but heartbreaking when their calf dies. Lasts about a week and they eventually get back to normal helping with the other calves. There is usually a reason the calf dies.

Thank you spellbound. It must have been right after I went to bed. I am three hours different in time. Autumn was in the back in the small pen. I don't think I could bear having seen. God bless little Daisy. I like that name too.

I just saw someone out in the Paddock.

OMG, I am crying! Poor Mommy Poor Baby. I watched them last night til after midnight. Mom was eating a lot,
Walter was hanging around a lot so close to her, rubbed her head and licked at her bottom like he was trying to help her.
The baby looked like it moved around 11pm. She was big on both sides then more on one side. I saw what looked like the
legs (form inside). They looked awfully big. Maybe the baby was too big for her. I am so sorry for her, maybe Walter sensed
a problem and was so attentive to her. I don't have my computer but I will be back later. God Bless Mommy and Daddy, I'm
sure baby is in Heaven. Poor mommy she doesn't even understand........gotta go

I'm sorry about the stillborn baby giraffe. So many of you were eagerly waiting to greet the little one. It must have been hard to watch and wait, especially when the feed was stopped. :tears:

Don't usually start the day crying but I have a tiny rock in my eye, so tears are welcome.

jbc, I liiked what you posted too! That was so kind of you to bring the Arias motion to our board. I could not have guessed the content of that request to continue. Now I will understand the judge's ruling when it comes.

I lurked here a couple of days ago and read about Autumn and the impending birth. I love to watch animal cams, so went straight to it! My first thought though was that it seemed really soon for her to be calving again; doesn't she have a little one right now? Perhaps that is why the calf was stillborn; too soon for another pregnancy.

Last night I fell asleep just before the birth; I'm glad I missed it. My heart goes out to those of you who saw it and were suspended in confusion and worry.

Meanwhile, at what time is the hearing today?

No one missed anything about JA today. It is not even 8:30 a.m. and you know nothing starts in Phoenix before that.

There's a tweet from Maricopa County Superior court:

"The evidentiary/motions hearing set for 8/22 at 1:30 in State vs. Jodi Arias was vacated and reset for this morning at 8:30 a.m.

So it sounds like the hearing is set to go today and the one for Friday has been combined with this one.

Jen from Jen's Trial Diaries is tweeting that she's in the courtroom, waiting on Jodi.

How sad!!!! I think its impossible to be a mother and not grieve for Autumn.

Even with this outcome, thanks to y'all for posting about Autumn's cam. I've learned a lot about giraffe families, and it has been sweet to watch.

Jen says this hearing is to provide evidence to delay trial.

(Sorry, between learning how to use a tablet and Windows 8.1, plus the new WS format, I've gotten hopeless at copy and paste.)
