The reason Steven's testimony was Sooooo Gripping-- was the fact that he was speaking for himself whereas Samantha was speaking "for the family." You can't be quite as personal when you are speaking for others as well as yourself.

I watched his testimony with my hand over my mouth and tears running down my cheeks. It took me straight back to the PTSD memory I have worked with since 1994 -the day they told me my son was dead. I had no idea you could have such a powerful physical reaction upon hearing bad news.

Immediately I screamed and was hit by a powerful pain in my chest, then in my stomach and I fell to the ground, retching while still trying to scream. This took place in slow motion on the driveway in front of my mother's house. I can tell you the temperature of the cement, the exact color of the sky. I couldn't hear, I couldn't breathe. I was in agony.

For three months I was a zombie. I didn't eat or care for my other children. My sister took me in and relatives took the kids. I slept, cried, ate, cried, walked, cried, showered and cried. That was my day. I drove recklessly, lost track of time constantly and spent hours staring at the ocean wondering if I could go on living.

One day my sister called the police because I didn't come home until 3:00 am. She told the officer something was wrong with me ever since my son died and nothing seemed to help. Not pills, not doctors, nothing because I was just going through the motions of living. The only thing that brought me back was my other children needed a mother.

Steven only told you the tip of the iceberg. I am sure he lost interest in sex and smoked/drank too much like I did. I kept hurting myself bumping into things because I was not really there--I was in some kind of a dissociated trance. In my mind I said, " The worst possible thing has happened and I am now afraid of nothing. What can anyone say or do that could hurt me? Nothing! I'm invincible!"

There is a way out of PTSD after such a powerful tragedy and I am sure Steven is on the path to recovery.

I wish I could give the Alexander family this advice: Have a "We Are Still A Family" picnic outdoors. Bring the games, the volleyball net, whatever you used to do when Travis was there. This HONORS him because it is what he would have wanted. I know they have the hardiness inside, all they need to do is point that strength at their grief and REFUSE to let the monster kill the whole Alexander family as well as Travis Alexander.

The first step of recovery from grief is to stop being afraid of it. Have an empty chair there and have Travis' name on it. Have pictures of him all around because you are doing this FOR HIM. There is nothing you can do for him now that he is gone but honor what YOU KNOW his wishes would be for your family.

Raise yourselves, Alexanders! Don't let Jody Arias have any more victims!

:tears: :grouphug: :tears:
Thank you so much for sharing your personal story, anagrammy! And I had the same thought about an Alexander family picnic being just what they need on their road to recovery. And I believe that's exactly what Travis would want them to do.

If you don't mind, I need and want to give you a big hug...

Southeast MI reporting in too. :)
I felt a weird and VERY slight sway or shift here.
Nothing dramatic or shaking.
Hard to describe ... having never been anywhere near an earthquake before.

I had channel 2's morning FoxNews show as it happened and they said they were getting lots of calls about it.

Weird, eh?

I didn't feel a thing this morning, but I remember an earthquake sometime during the summer in the early '80s. I was standing at the kitchen sink and definitely felt the earth move under my feet  It was totally weird, and I didn't realize what it was until I heard local news that evening.

Here's my contribution to the discussion about pizza and BBQ. Haven't tried it, but Supino's is supposed to be the best pizza in metro Detroit and was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. http://supinopizzeria.com/

In the suburbs, Alibi has won numerous awards for its pizza. When we're in the mood for pizza, this is where we go. http://www.alibioftroy.com/

Not a big fan of barbecue, but DH and I tried Union Woodshop after it was featured on Triple D - show that featured local rocker Kid Rock who has his own local Badass brewery. http://www.unionwoodshop.com/

Bette, you forgot Buddys!
If you are a square pizza fan, theirs is dang good.
My family loves Buddys, I prefer round myself (Sorrentos classic, with the little dime sized pepperonis that "cup" up!), but to each his own.

Ok, yes I am from California, but I swear that the best pizza I ever had was from Papa Murphys which is a take&bake chain. They have these multi-layer pizzas that are the bizzomb :-) :blushing:

Nick and Willy's in CO, very yummy!

Well folks hello from Florida! Just got to Orlando came down here for Paul McCartney concert on Sunday!

My dream witness for the prosecution would be Christian Dior, Guess or someone who calls out the con-artists (stolen name..love it), tracings.

I'm sure that Juan is very familiar with inmate JA's bogus "artwork". He will rip her another one on cross. :moo:

'48 Hours: Unraveling the lies of Jodi Arias'

On CBS, tonight at 9 CST.

Last night and today there has been much discussion about sandy a, being ja's best bet to save her from the DP. I disagree with them in every way. :moo: If sa gets on the stand JM will smash her with her own words in the police interview. I think her best bet would be her sister or brother...and still that would fail as she moved out of the house at 17 to go live with a vampire :floorlaugh:. Personally I don't see any chance of her not getting the DP based on anything anyone could say about her. There has only been one person, that I am aware of, that I felt perhaps should have been commuted to LWOP. I don't see an redeeming qualities in ja. And I do believe, even if she got LWOP, she would hurt or kill someone again....a guard or another inmate.

I'm so behind, been cleaning, then laying on it the rest of the day. Speaking of vampires my favorite vampire movie is " The Lost Boys" for some reason. Just love that movie still at age ?9.Love that movie, as campy as it is. Must be Jason Patric, or Keifer, or Corey dimples Hiam, who got me hooked.:blushing:

I told a friend who is anti DP, that I want the killer to get the DP because, she does not deserve to be around other people, out of their cells, play cards, make friends, sing more songs, have human contact. I don't care if they ever give her a lethal injection, ( same with SQDRISP, San Quentin Death Row Inmate Scott Petterson) I want them on death row, big difference. I believe they will die of old age or something else before the state puts them to death. But I want her on death row. To suffer, unfortunately she will never suffer like Travis did. Forever RIP Travis.

That's not fair I have to maintain my weight for my daughters wedding in June. If you keep posting this delicious meals, I'm going to cheat and have to run an extra couple of miles daily. It's really hard to eat an orange when you see a pizza and a delicious breakfast. I have to keep repeating, I don't want to look fat for my daughters wedding, I don't want to look fat for my daughters wedding.

As someone who pretty much lives on Lean Cuisine, I feel your pain.

I didn't forget it - just haven't been there for years. I do remember their fabulous deep dish pizza and the humongous family-style salad :)

Your tag line of "Hold on, its going to be a bumpy night." was very prophetic. :seeya:

Hi VV

They are so good and easy. It's a recipe from the food network I've made for a few years now. Glad you liked it

Not a chef! Cooking is just relaxing to me. Have entered a few chili and BBQ cook offs and I did ok.

Went fishing today and caught some trout so that's what I'll cook tomorrow.

Tonight is espresso rubbed pork tenderloin w/raspberry sauce and salad with home grown tomatoes. Our daughter wants me to make some apple dumplings for her and her friend home from college. New recipe but if it's good I'll post it. Looks pretty easy. But the banana quesadilla? I could eat that every day!

Back in 1990 I won second place for the chili cook off contest in Atlanta Georgia! Well it was really in Stone Mountain!

Everyone afterwards ask me how I did it. I have no idea I had never made chili before. I didn't even have enough tomato sauce and had to borrow it from a fellow contestant. I just made it to taste .

The only answer I can give is well .at 6 o'clock you start drinking with about 10 other friends ( this is in the morning did I say) . start off drinking Miller Lite beer ( they are a sponsor you know) and then start with shots of tequila for 10 and then pour tequila and beer into the chili as you go. the rest of it I do not remember!

I just have a great picture after I won on my wall in my kitchen and it reminds me of the good ol days!

Obsession: The Jodi Arias Story
5-17-13 (tonight) at 7PM central

Just a heads up on a program this evening.

I was about to post the same thing.

FYI It's shown again at 11pm CST and several times over the weekend.

BBM: There's just something so WRONG about a SQUARE pizza.:banghead:

Im sitting at the station reading your post and crying!
Thank u for sharing .my heart cries for travis family. It was hard watching jodie faking and at the end the cut throat jesture. Shes not redeemable to society! Jean c needs to stop with her comments off. She stalking sandy for interview already tried to with jodie. She partied with baez and team when casey was aquitted.

"Mind the Gap" is a sign seen in the tube stations. It means "watch out for that gap between the platform and the actual train"

The Tube is easy to navigate.

You can still go to the Tower anytime, just not the key ceremony.

Westminster Abbey is awesome too. There are a lot of famous Brits from long ago in crypts in there, it is so much more than a church.

That's what I thought, bc we say that here as well!!

Thanks for all the suggestions (((hugs)))
