I will miss him too.

I don't know how he can keep a straight face. Sometimes I can see a slight movement in his mouth- a certain flicker in his eyes- that shows what he is feeling at the moment.
But he must have heard so many crazy things in his career as a court reporter!

The man on your TV: Meet the Arias court reporter

"He’s in almost every shot of the Jodi Arias murder trial. He’s on a first-name basis with prosecutor Juan Martinez. And he arguably has the best seat in the courtroom. But you probably haven’t paid much attention to him.

He’s Mike Babicky..."

Men in Court Reporting

We have a male court reporter with a certain physical presence whom we use for depositions if there might be any tension in the room. :)

Arias attorneys want death off the table

"...Among the arguments in the new defense motion, one allegation is that the wife of lead Det. Esteban Flores tweeted information from hearings that were sealed to the public. The defense also claims Flores’ wife has engaged in a “campaign of hate” by posting to YouTube a “mock movie trailer."

In the video, the heroes of the story are Flores and prosecutor Juan Martinez, while the villains are the defense attorneys -- with Nurmi being referred to as “Jabba the Hut,” and Willmott being compared to former vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin...."

Good Lord. If that's what they consider 'hateful' they should see some of the stuff that's out there! Personally, I found the video amusing. Grounds for mistrial? Give me a break!

Its real interesting those court reporters and how that machine works. Bet it takes lots of practice.

Except for the JA trial, the machine should have only needed 2 keys through all her testimony >>> "B S" :)

I don't know if that YTube was posted by Mrs. Flores. How can they verify that?

I'm sure JM is having it investigated as we speak.

On another note:

Someone on the Retrial thread was mentioning "the gun" and I remembered a YTube about "the gun" that I watched last year.

(part 2 of the video speaks about the areas of interest and logical (?) areas that missy:jail: might have thrown it- starts at about 1:50 or so- see my next post))

Wilmott is a bit Palin like, come to think of it. I think most of that has to do with the hair and glasses (and possibly the suits). Her syntax isn't as screwed up as Palin's, but she does have trouble getting her points across at times--that comes from the fact that she has no evidence working in her favor. Wilmott pauses, hems and haws while she tries to think of something to say or ask. Many oral pauses and transitions occur as she decides what to do while questioning a witness.

ETA: Nurmi hesitates too, thinking on the fly: "Drawing your attention to..." (picks up pen and holds it between his fingers)..."well let's go back a bit.." (places pen on podium in front of the microphone) "...eeaannd...no let's get back to the point you made..." (picks up pen again, drops it on podium again)...

Regarding where she may have thrown out the gun, I was watching some news video of her and there was one part where she claims she woke up in the desert. I cant recall what she was talking about or referring to, but it may have been a news interview when the interviewer asked her about what she did right after she left his place, and she claimed amnesia of sorts and didn't remember much except that she woke up in desert.

I wish I could remember what I was watching when I saw her say that. At the time I heard this, my first thought was maybe this was one of those rare times where she was telling bits of the truth and just drove away from his house as far away as she could until she needed to stop and sleep. I wonder if she pulled over somewhere on her way back west to get some shut eye.

If so, my guess is it would not be too far past the AZ State border since she was probably very tired from staying up the previous night + day. If I had to guess, and if I knew which road she took west, the most likely spot to sleep and then ditch the gun would be very soon after she crossed the AZ state lines. I am sure she didnt stop until she got out of AZ.

I bet if someone was to drive that route, there may be a few spots that would look like good candidates to pull over and sleep and considered to be "in desert". Could even be a rest area possibly. It would be shortly after crossing state lines I would think. Because I am guessing she was looking for place to sleep by then.

Makes me kind of sad for her (with "no evidence working in her favor")- poor thing and stuck with missy :jail:- probably for the rest of her career, this trial will follow her (like Marcia Clark and OJ)

I vividly recall those Wilmcott days. LOL. The days where she would start with what seemed like she had some earth shattering questions that were going to blow this case wide open. Then as the questions began to get very random, and as they drug on and on with no particular theme, we realized....."this is going nowhere fast".

Yeah, she didnt have much to work with. :)

Does anyone remember this episode of NG- where they were talking about the gun and knives found in her "escape' car that was rented? I always wondered why JM didn't/couldn't bring this up in court (and say that she is still a menace to society- part of the mitigation baloney that DA's spout- "no future danger :blah::blah:). Does anyone have the police incident report?

"..The next day, they found a brand-new shiny rental car outside of the grandparents` house. They subsequently arrested Jodi, executed a search warrant, and found in that rental car boxes of books of Jodi Arias`s. Intermingled amongst the books were two knives. In her suitcase was a box of .9-millimeter bullets, no gun.

Less than a month later, her mother was inquiring where the gun was that Jodi had hidden in the rental car. They traced the rental car at that point to San Francisco, California, and they found hidden in that car a .9- millimeter gun...."

She had nothing to work with though, aside from some kind of misplaced ideology or state-appointed task as a criminal defense attorney. Her cross examinations of Dr. Horn and Janeen DeMarte, Ph.D., were comedy as a result. She must realize this.

Wait, what? Woah! For real? I knew about the knives and the bullets. I didn't know they later found the gun in a car in San Francisco. Her mom knew about it? Where can I read more about that?

Yes, but the video accompanying the story features him. (I'm on an iPad so I can't get the video to load, but I swear it's there.)

BBM It's there- he was explaining some law things :seeya:

The rental car co found "a" gun- a month later (according to this transcript).

I don't know where we can read more about it. This always bugged me so much as to why this wasn't brought up by JM!!!!
