Regarding where she may have thrown out the gun, I was watching some news video of her and there was one part where she claims she woke up in the desert. I cant recall what she was talking about or referring to, but it may have been a news interview when the interviewer asked her about what she did right after she left his place, and she claimed amnesia of sorts and didn't remember much except that she woke up in desert.

I wish I could remember what I was watching when I saw her say that. At the time I heard this, my first thought was maybe this was one of those rare times where she was telling bits of the truth and just drove away from his house as far away as she could until she needed to stop and sleep. I wonder if she pulled over somewhere on her way back west to get some shut eye.

If so, my guess is it would not be too far past the AZ State border since she was probably very tired from staying up the previous night + day. If I had to guess, and if I knew which road she took west, the most likely spot to sleep and then ditch the gun would be very soon after she crossed the AZ state lines. I am sure she didnt stop until she got out of AZ.

I bet if someone was to drive that route, there may be a few spots that would look like good candidates to pull over and sleep and considered to be "in desert". Could even be a rest area possibly. It would be shortly after crossing state lines I would think. Because I am guessing she was looking for place to sleep by then.

This is a good conjecture. My thoughts are the opposite though. I do think that Det. Flores has searched like this for the gun. I also believe that this crime was premeditated to the hilt, and the Killer had a plan for the disposal of the weapons before she even entered that house. I don't think she was flying by the seat of her pants when it came to hiding or destroying the weapons. So many years have gone by and no-one has stumbled upon them. I think they are hidden very well and very deeply. Who knows though, maybe she did just drive and drive and chuck them out where she stopped. Logic doesn't necessarily apply here!

Yes, two different guns, the one stolen from the grandparents house (and never found) was brought up during trial (see link below for refresher), the one taped to the 2nd rental car was not, nor were the knives hidden in the books of that rental car when it appeared during surveillance that she was planning to take off and was arrested.

Thanks, I could not remember if the 9mm was brought up at trial. I thought it had to have been because she gave that story about the camping trip and I could not think of another venue in which she would have spoken of that. I thought it was during her testimony.

It was months ago of course...her testimony. So it is hard to recall some of it offhand.

So...WHEN did she tell her camping trip story?

I am not sure someone will not find either the gun or the knife one day.

Nurmi's direct examination, Feb 20, 2013:

Weird: Arias has several reasons for buying a 9mm in Yreka after killing Alexander. She wanted to be a "responsible gun owner." She was contemplating suicide. And she had planned to camping and panning for gold with some guys, and wanted a gun (ironically) because she "no longer felt safe around guys."

OT: Klaus Kids is helping organize a search in Maryland tomorrow for the 2 small Hoggle children. WS has been asked to help with donations of food and water, if possible. Tricia has posted a thread about this. She called Dominos and they gave her a deal and I duplicated it. 400 searchers will be out in the cold rain tomorrow all day.

If any of you kind souls care to donate by calling Dominos or one of the places listed in the thread to order food for tomorrow, I know they would be very grateful. Xo

Wilmott is a bit Palin like, come to think of it. I think most of that has to do with the hair and glasses (and possibly the suits). Her syntax isn't as screwed up as Palin's, but she does have trouble getting her points across at times--that comes from the fact that she has no evidence working in her favor. Wilmott pauses, hems and haws while she tries to think of something to say or ask. Many oral pauses and transitions occur as she decides what to do while questioning a witness.

ETA: Nurmi hesitates too, thinking on the fly: "Drawing your attention to..." (picks up pen and holds it between his fingers)..."well let's go back a bit.." (places pen on podium in front of the microphone) "...eeaannd...no let's get back to the point you made..." (picks up pen again, drops it on podium again)...

The phrase that brought audible groans. You could hear oh God No, not back up again, from websleuthers across the globe.

Wlmont got on my nerves too much. What would you like to be wrote about you as an attorney when you gone? I hope her's will be "“So when somebody’s not alive, you can’t get any information from them?"

Hi T-4-2,I am up with insomnia. My "puppy" is sound asleep on our bed.I wish the trial would get going a bit faster. They should chug along more hours each day , not so many days off. This has already cost AZ. over 2.5 million. All that and they knew she was guilty. That is sickening. JA> should have to cough up the money she has made! I've never heard of someone indigent using taxpayers money making thousands on the side.
She comes right out and says her family has the money..Oh well time will tell. Now back to bed.:offtobed:

Relax! It's not as though Arizona has anything better to with that money.

"One in four children go to bed hungry each night, according to the Association of Arizona Food Banks. One in five people statewide do not know where their next meal will come from, Brown said. The percentage of people in Arizona with food insecurity has risen slightly — a tenth of a percent over the past year."

Sure. Because going off into the woods with some men she barely knew, screams "I'm afraid of men!". The logical thing would have been to NOT go, instead of bringing a gun. She's a liar. Lord, give her the DP please.

  • #252
What is chilling is that she was loaded up with her favourite killing weapons - guns and knives - and probably on her way to kill again. Chris and Sky Hughes must have been at the top of her murderous wish list. Arias bristled with barely concealed rage when Sky Hughes was questioned in court. Thank heaven the police arrested Arias before she took to the road again.

She almost decapitates Travis and then voluntarily goes out to buy a gun to 'protect' herself during the camping trip? Who does that?
Which innocent person would do that? The last thing a person suffering from PTSD will do is to arm themselves with a weapon that they previously used to kill someone. Just the thought of a gun would sicken them. Which innocent person prepares for another killing like this? She is a freak of unimaginable proportions.

This in and of itself is enough to give her LWOP. She thoroughly enjoyed murdering Travis and was/is itching for an opportunity to murder someone again.

Chris/Sky and Mimi were on top of her list I think.

Mimi could have been, had Arias not learned about her not wishing to be more than friends with Travis. Imagine Arias' horror on learning she had killed Travis (partly in rage for Cancun) - only to discover there was no immediate competitor for his heart? Cancun forced her murdering hand. I'd like to know precisely when she knew he was taking Mimi? Beginning of May? Or had she guessed before? All that blackmailing phone sex for nothing? I bet she felt cheated as if she hasn't played the blackmail card, she could have continued to hound Travis until the next girlfriend.

Who does that?.

Great points. I especially like the, "Who does that" line echoing the brilliant Juan Martinez in court.

Hee hee. Here is proof that a woman has given her husband permission to wake her up. Well, there IS one method he can't use…

Not to mention, putting herself in a situation where she may need to shoot someone doesn't really speak to her alleged PTSD in relation to having to shoot and kill someone. Sounds like the complete opposite of PTSD.

But the major thing wasn't even the gun taped to the engine, it's the knives she had hidden among her books. HIDDEN among books. The gun could, I guess, logically be explained away, bu the hidden knives. A gun and knives, sure sounds like an MO. And the knives were what were never brought up on trial.

I'm NOT afraid of men, and I still wouldn't go off into the woods with men I knew or barely knew.

Didn't Jodi invite herself along on two other trips? The one to the beach with two men in Travis's group of friends going surfing. I think she went dead broke for that trip also. And then one with the three guys ( Victor Arais?) in the mountains?

I wonder if these men ever think of how lucky they are to be alive.
