Arias jury selection: Do you believe in death penalty?

"..Did they understand that Arias has already been found guilty of premeditated murder and that a previous jury had determined that her victim suffered?

Could they set aside what they know about the first trial to make a fair assessment as to whether Arias should be sentenced to death or to life in prison?..."

Does anyone else find it very interesting that the witness is from New Zealand, so very far away. And how did he become involved in this case, being from another country. Was he sought out or did he volunteer himself to be part of this? I am wondering just what grade this witness went to school with Travis. Grammar school, high school, college?

snip:
Yes, I totally agree.

The way she stole her relatives .25 handgun a week before the killing of Travis is proof to me that she had this all planned out.

No question that was premeditated and very carefully planned out. "Carefully," of course, doesn't necessarily mean "well." Jodi's special mix of stupidity and psychopathy doomed her from the start. Sadly, it doomed Travis as well.

When I started to write this, I was going to mention the photo disk (disks?) she brought to give to Travis -- another sign of premeditation. Why bring the disk if she wasn't planning to go to Mesa? Of course she was planning to go to Mesa. Everything else was just scaffolding. She claims the decision to go to Mesa was last-minute, and that she went because Travis said he'd be sad otherwise. Hardly. She also claims, IIRC, that she brought the disk because Travis wanted to see the pictures. Hardly. The disk is an important part of her plan, though, because it was scratched, Travis couldn't see the pictures, he lost his temper, threw the disk at the wall, broke the disk, lost his temper some more. I forget if this led up to the "anal sex to calm him down" story or if that was another time. What I'm wondering now is if there really was a disk. Were pieces of a broken photo disk found in the office? Did Jodi make up the disk, because "I stopped by as a favor to him because he wanted the disk" sounds better than "I stopped by to murder him in cold blood?"

She can't say it was a last-minute visit if she brought the disk. She needs the disk in her story because she uses it to show (well, "show") that Travis had a volatile temper and she used "angry sex" to calm him down. (Better that then take a beating or a body slam, I think she said.)

Anyone know if the police found the disk?

For some reason, this made me laugh, even in this sad case.

Reason being I think you just "shrunk" Jodi in one sentence. She is an odd duck. And dangerous.

I see his posts on WS, but rarely...I remember staying on line here, for hours. LOL

I was hoping a lot of the regulars from "back then" would come back for the penalty phase.

Why should they set aside what they know about the first trial? Shouldn't they accept what the first trial was? If they can set it aside, they can then decide that she isn't guilty right? I don't understand this question.

My question, exactly.

Why does it matter if they have full knowledge of the guilt phase as you would think they would want them to have that knowledge. So then I thought maybe by first trial they mean the penalty phase where the jury hung. But I can't imagine why they would need to set that aside either, and basically pretend not to know.

Juan Martinez to Jodi Arias - "I thought you said your relationship with Mr Alexander was very stressful?".

Jodi Arias replies, "Some of the sex wasn't". .

Why doesn't her stun-belt have an "automatic" setting?
