Court: Judge can't shut out media from Jodi Arias trial

"...The panel granted a stay to the media, which means that Judge Sherry Stephens cannot exclude the public and the media from testimony until the Court of Appeals rules on a special action filed by the media. A special action is an expedited appeal....

After the ruling was issued, Stephens allowed the media back into the courtroom. Then, after a long conversation with the defense attorneys and prosecutor Juan Martinez, out of earshot of the rest of the courtroom, Stephens announced that there was "a difference of opinion" about what the order meant. :notgood: :sigh:

The lawyers will discuss the order in a hearing Tuesday afternoon. The jury will not return until Wednesday morning..."

WOW, I'm surprised at the reason for the court day ending early after the AC ruling. I expected to see something like the DT claiming they had no further witnesses (because they all must testify in secrecy--makes lying so much easier, you know) but to see it was due to a "difference of opinion" of how to interpret the ruling. Again, wow!

Why can't this judge interpret the ruling for her court? Why can't Stephens just take the "lesser restrictive" action advised by the AC judges and get on with this dog and pony act! Good grief...does this judge not have a clue how to make a simple ruling? I mean, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out a "lesser restrictive" course of action here.

So what's next? Do all proceedings just HALT until someone tells this judge what to do next? And who should be the person telling her--the prosecutor? The defense attorney? Oh, I know--the killer herself should be the one who determines the next course of action for these proceedings.

In other words, things will plod along with nothing having changed.

what? Can't this judge demand Nurmi to make a decision so court can continue? So Nurmi throws a tantrum and everyone is delayed an entire week because of it?? WTH???

I really am of the school of thought that Judges should be respected at all times, but JSS is really not the ruler of her courtroom as she should be. That's rather pathetic and quite disappointing IMHO.
