Do you kids remember at one point CMJA said she was being stalked in California after Travis and her broke up, and she felt it was safer for her to move to Arizona? Can't recall if it was an interview or in court........threatening emails, something like that.

Too many lies to keep track of!

Earthquakes and blizzards and cold...oh my!

Florida for sure has its share of natural (and unnatural) disasters,
and we're expecting a freeze the next two nights,
but right this moment it's still the Sunshine State.
Sending forth some warm rays to those who need 'em...
please stay cozy and safe!

Again hats earthquakes! ! Scare the crap out of me!!!! Always get told ~~eell that wasn't the "big one" :(

Earthquakes sound really scary. I know the cold is scary. I never want to do "snowy and blowy" again. That is what my Dad called it.

I live local to the JA trial. Everyone I mention it to says "who?" Or they say, is that the person that killed that Mormon guy. It is just not that big of a deal in the Phoenix area to most people. So................ Or maybe it is just the people I know.

I have to agree about JSS. The only thing that got me with her is the day she closed the court room. What could have possessed her to do such a thing. I guess we will never really know. IMO there is no reason good enough. I just feel we have to trust the Judge and Juan to do the right thing. If JSS was doing something too bad, I thing Juan would be saying or doing something about it. JMO

Good Morning!

Chaterhouse, it was pretty big up here North of Prescott during the first trial. I don't know if it had anything to do with CMJA's "boyfriend" who was living here in Prescott or what, but the feed store and tire repair shop in Chino had live streaming on their monitors at their businesses. Couldn't get past the check out gals at Safeway without someone mentioning the case. Could be that this area only gets TV programs by satellite or cable, otherwise you're stuck with 3 channels (one's local Prescott, another local NBC Flagstaff and neither are worth a nickel, the third has the continuous "snow effect") and that's with an antennae amplifier.

The Prescott Daily Courier had weekly updates on the case.

Good morning :seeya:

Cold, cold, cold!

The ‪#‎JodiArias‬ Retrial: A Juror’s Perspective
DAY 20

“THE DAY THAT NEVER WASN’T”

Our grandson has decided that he's going to live off the land and catch squirrels to eat ....... in our backyard.

We have five pecans peach ,and pear trees in the orchard so he's made a snare to catch them. I don't think they'll taste like MickyD's or hotdogs and snack ramen.

This along with him deciding that he's going to be a blacksmith and make one of a kind sword and knives, and has built a mini forge which is driving me nuts. Did I mention he's has aspergers?

I put down Friday, March 13....not because I actually believe they'll wrap it up by then; but hey...it's Friday the 13th! The 13th is on a Friday in February, too, but c'mon...ain't no way!

Put myself down for April 4............2015. Yep, I'm an optimist! :floorlaugh:

I really expect a boatload of motions before this ends, frivolous ones at that.:gaah:

At some point, I'm going to do a search on the cost of a defense lawyer for your run of the mill murder trial. $3 mil seems to be a bit high to me, but I'd like to check it out. Like OJ, Anthony, and Peterson (Scott), and their price tags.

I put down April 15th, around tax day. Thought that would keep us from thinking about our taxes :(
if she was sent up at that time. :)

That actually sound pretty cool! Hope he knows how to skin and clean them (ok, grandma, it's not going to be pretty!)
I had the plan of going to Yosemite and living off the land after I read the book, "My Side of the Mountain" in 7th grade. I had a list of everything I needed, including my horse, my dog, and a goat. Realistically, it could have worked. And the thought of having a falcon was really cool!

Pages, my daughter lives in Wiley but works by the old Cowboy stadium. She hasn't felt one yet but she is afraid.

Yesterday was the first one that I felt. It was stronger and deeper than the others and wasn't that scary. It makes you think of the big one and if it will come the the New Madrid fault along the Mississippi. If you look at the USGS site it showed quakes in Oklahoma about the same times, and strength.

There was more chitchat during the first trial. Most of those people that I spoke with then thought she had been convicted. I think WS gives us a unique and often very different view than the general public. I guess that is why I like it here.

What trials or cases are everyone going to follow next?

I am always interested in JonBenet Ramsey and Kyron Horman. I don't think either of those are going anywhere.

Is anyone following the Cooper Harris case "child left in the car seat" in the heat.

I am always interested in some case. It is just so hard with the cases involving children.

The baby Cooper case should be starting soon.
I'll be following that one.

After the debacle that was the Anthony trial, I vowed not to watch any more cases involving children. It's so painful. And frustrating! But I'll probably get sucked in, because I just can't seem to stay away from Websleuths. Hello, my name is Jane and I am an addict!

Since my husband is from Boston and my stepson works not too far from where the Marathon bombing took place, I'll be following that trial, for sure.

Yes, the Anthony trial about did me in too. I will probably get sucked into a child case also.

I don't know if I will follow the Baby Cooper case. That will be an awful one also. I am still not sure who all are involved. (mother?)

There is always something to read on here

Starting this list of defense costs.......some cases don't have the amount that the defense was paid, like the Scott Peterson case.

Richard Allan Davis (Polly Klaus)......... $1 million

Charles Chitat Ng (California serial killer)..........$6.42 million

http://www.aclunc.org/docs/criminal_justice/death_penalty/costs/trial_cost_case_studies.pdf

Casey Anthony................ there's so many donations/private monies/State reimbursement, I can't find a total!

OJ Simpson.........................$3-5 million

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O._J._Simpson_murder_case

George Zimmerman.........................$2 million

http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/26/justice/george-zimmerman-court-costs/

From http://thelawdictionary.org/article/how-much-does-a-criminal-defense-lawyer-cost-for-murder-charges/

Individuals who wish to find a competent criminal defense attorney for a first-degree murder charge must be prepared to spend at least $20,000 on their case. While this number might seem shocking to those who lack familiarity with the trial process, it's important to put it in perspective.

On the other hand, defendants who believe that they can successfully fight their charges should consider the costs and benefits of retaining a qualified lawyer. A good defense attorney who can secure an acquittal for $50,000 or even $100,000 might turn out to be a good investment.

.......and I'm burned out on this search already! Google is NOT my friend this morning!

Oh, do I love your grandson! He sounds adventurous and full of life.

I didn't know squirrels liked pears, but this year they finally discovered our decorative pear tree and are fast cleaning up those tiny fruits that make a mess of my sidewalk. It's about time someone else did the work! Now if they would only stop leaving the walnut shells laying around for my bare feet to step on, I would be really happy.

Good Morning!

Wow on the earthquakes. Hope everyone is safe.

Regarding JSS, I have to stay somewhat critical of her because she is the only one who has the power to stop the madness and all indications are she is doing nothing to control the courtroom.
And Juan has tried many times through his valid objections he brings up formally, and his valid objections are ignored by her.

I understand it gets old and I honestly have tried not to keep harping on her (honestly i have tried...LOL), but since she is the only one with the power to stop the madness, I think that is why the critisism keeps flowing her way. She is the only one that can reign in this crazy trial and she has let it get away from her. If anything, things seem much worse than the 1st phase where she mainly only allowed way too many sidebars. This phase, it has gotten way out of hand.

See, the DT knows this and they are exploiting her because they know she is doing nothing to stop them. Its all so obvious and just wish she would quit worrying about possibility of appeal because we know DT will appeal no matter what she does. JSS proved she is worried about appeals because its in the COA documentation. Very sad. She needs to be confident and NOT worry about that. Just obey the law.

And the ironic thing IMO is that JSS has been so overly cautious to a point where she is causing some possible appeal issues herself. A good example is her not allowing videos this time. She should have stuck to letting them in because she let them in during 1st phase. Nothing illegal about it. But now, she has created a possible appeal issue if she second guessed herself because now DT can claim....why did you allow videos in 1st phase if you agreed they should not be allowed this phase. This is the sort of thing where she worries so much about appeals that she is possibly causing a valid appeal issue.
