Watching the movie right now on TCM.

Christine realizes Rhoda is a sociopath:

Thanks for the Dunn links, Y/N.

That movie is creepy... but very good.

That movie scared the bejeebers out of me years ago. My husband was out of town and I watched it alone after I put my kids to bed. I ended up sleeping in a twin bed with my daughter that night. :giggle: I will not be watching that movie again ever!

And you can mark my words on that!

Rhoda...yeesh, creepy as all get out! But the ending of the book scared me a lot more. I know that books have to be remolded to make them viable movies sometimes, but I don't like it when they change the entire message/climax of a book just for the "feel good" ending. A prime example (besides "The Bad Seed") is "Hannibal," the novel by Thomas Harris vs "Hannibal," the film by Ridley Scott. And they did the same thing with the American film version of the Dutch film "The Vanishing." The ending was completely re-written to something more upbeat...well maybe not "upbeat", but more positive. The Dutch version scared the bejeesus out of me, while the American one left me going "OH come ON....really?"

Anyway, I think little Rhoda there is a miniature Jodi Arias. Can you imagine what it was like trying to parent that? I'll bet her parents knew she was off, but I wonder if they had any clue at all just how dangerous she could be. I think they had hints and maybe a feeling but not enough to really motivate them to seek help for her.

And you forgot...... she doesn't make friends with women. It might be the punishment she deserves, after all.

Bernina, how is your foot? Terribly sore?

I also bet that 90% of the women in Perryville already know/have heard OF her, and are patiently awaiting for the Goddess's arrival.

It's REALLY getting to be a point of contention:
Wednesday when I went in, the Doc referred me to an Orthoped specialist, after x-rays and temp splint,
Thursday referral was received by O specialist office,
Friday, TODAY, I had to track the referral from my doc to the O Specialist because they had not called,
Called Specialist office, got machine, 5 hours later get a call back,
They don't take my insurance....."You could always go to the emergency room", (and she asks if I have x-rays, like, lady, from Wednesday, so it's going to look different!)
Called regular Doc, press 5 again and record message, "dude, like WTF?" <----ok, I WANTED to say that but I didn't,
Waiting for a return call to see if they will refer me to someone who TAKES my insurance so I can get this all plastered up before it shifts and heals the wrong way or the referred doc takes President's day off on Monday.

This is why I don't bother going to the doc for anything I can just slap a bandage on, super glue, or just ignore.

I swear, If no one calls me back, I'm just going to duck tape a pillow around this foot and say to heck with it. I'm super PO'd. I've got stuff to do!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! It hurts, but after an emergency c-section, and another kid that gave me 4th degree tears when he came out, this is a cake walk.

This weekend: I WILL be under my truck splicing wires back together next to the O2 sensor that got fried, cast or no cast, and I WILL be putting up the round pen panels with Evie.

I'm watching 'The Mating Season' (1951) and in it Ellen says, "I've stepped on better things than him." :hilarious: At once I thought of this case
and some of the unusual characters we have to deal with.

'Rhodarias' must have been a nightmare growing up. It was chilling to hear that she feigned ignorance after hitting her little brother with the baseball bat. What PTSD and abuse? I believe this one was born evil. I'll never understand how Travis put up with her.

Well I missed most of yesterday. Was it a good day court wise for Travis, a bad day or neutral?

I have to thank everyone here again who told me to watch this movie about a month or so ago. WOW. What a great classic movie. It was done so well.

Without giving anything away to those have not seen it yet, that is so interesting to learn the book had a different ending. I am going to have to get the book now and read it.

I just love classic movies and this one is right up there at the top of my list now of one of the best. What makes these classic movies so good is they didnt need all the special effects. They just needed a really good story and good actors.
It is a lesson for all modern movie makers. Get a good story and some good actors and get the audience emotionally involved.
When you have that, you can scare the beejeesus out of us without special effects.
Like Physcho and a lot of the Alfred Hitchcock old ones. He did great at that.

And yeah, the comparison to JA and the girl was just amazing throughout the whole movie. It was basically JA's childhood story and I would not be surprised to learn she ended up shoving an aunt or baby sitter down the stairs or something.

I don't think BPD of CMJA's extent does well at all. But.........

Any delusions of what you may think you were, in her case, "professional photographer", "artist extraordinaire", means absolutely nothing. Her experience in waitressing and restaurant work will get her a job in the mess hall. Her high opinion of herself is going to be beat down pretty quickly.
She's going to be a new fish. She has no street cred, she has no associations, her crime is nothing significant or "noteworthy" in the whole criminal scheme of things, and her jacket says she has a psych issue. She wants attention and talks way too much. "Loose lips sink ships". Will throw anyone under the bus if it suits her. Lies like a rug. She's not pretty. She's not young enough to mold into what another inmate may want to control, and not old enough to ignore. She's bi-racial. She's from California. And she doesn't take credit for what she did. Her "Appellate Trust Fund" is going to be a target for extortion. And let's just throw in that her victim's sister and brother-in-law was/is in LE for grins and giggles.

Her BPD is the least of her "issues". The gals in Perryville aren't naive.

I agree with you here but, I also think CMJA believes she's going to be a star in prison...just like she is online with her *fans*. She may very well have groupies in there. I think she needs to be locked up completely alone so she can face herself and what she has done....for the rest of her life.

Hatfield, your description is perfect. We love these old movies for the acting, lighting, and actors! I never watch the new movies that come out, just cannot make the leap.

Bermina, I am worried about you, girl. I understand the impatience (we would make an awesome pair), but do be persistent in getting the proper care for your foot. It will do no good to let it heal poorly. Take it from an oldie who is now suffering the consequences of using my knee as a moving tool for things that were too heavy. The arthritis pain is becoming unbearable. Keep us posted. Your brother's pictures are gorgeous! Drooling and envious.....

Oh that's true too. Doesn't like anyone she thinks is prettier than her!

BBM - I agree that she thinks that will happen. In her correspondence and that 3-way jail call to her supporters she acts like a queen holding court. The minute she starts ordering other inmates around and talking down to them in that snarky, condescending way of hers, she will get a serious and well deserved beat-down. :moo:

Thanks again BDE luved the Bad Seed. I'm still watching lol. The Birds. What a trip down memory lane. The only movies I cant watch are those with ventriloquist dummies. Now they freak me out. I kinda don't like clowns now either. That came from a scene in a movie about John Wayne Gacy. Luved Brian Dennehy in that role tho.

Take care of your foot Bernina...even if the Docs are a pain in the butt to get in touch with. Don't want it to turn into something more serious that requires surgery to put back together. Then you will be off your feet for a lot longer. Hope you are not in too much pain...

I hear you about the babies!!! lolol I have 4 and only one of them came w/o complications!

True! No matter what she thinks.. she's not going to be head honcho. They have a system in prison set up long before her arrival. Because she loves attention SO much..I think she should be alone! That will do her some good. She can spend the rest of her life manipulating herself!

I cant wait till we hear about her lying or swindling the wrong person in prison.
And we know she will try to pull something over on someone. As soon as the wrong person gets wronged by her, she will get whats coming to her.

I wonder if Jodi is popular where she is right now. I know "she sang for food" and won. Maybe that wore off. Quickly.
