Too bad he didn't tell how much of that was the defense, and the paltry amount that went to the prosecution costs.

Just for the heck of it, and because JAII is making such a BIG deal about it:

Air conditioning in the general Phoenix area;

AC systems have 2 kinds of vents, cool air discharge vents and return vents. Discharge vents are found in every room. Return vents are found in centrally located areas of the home, hallways, stairwells, places were multiple rooms open into a common area.
Bathrooms do NOT have return vents. This is because moisture laden air would be sucked back in to the AC unit, making it work harder to maintain low humidity, and it would cause bacteria growth in your ducts and filters.. Bathrooms have fans that suck out the air in the bathroom and discharge it outside, NOT back into the AC system.
Most tract type homes built in the last 40 years are almost completely air tight. The 2 main electric companies, APS and SRP, will give you a "health check up" for your home, FREE, to see where you're loosing both heat and cold air, due to insufficient insulation, weather stripping, gaps in window caulking, leaky duct work, etc, you get the idea. Rooms are even pretty air tight, thus the ability to adjust the discharge vents from fully open to closed, and it only affects that room.

Arizona is all about efficiency. It's the desert.

Every guy I've ever met, who was in his late teens through early 30's, who had male room mates, didn't care one bit about the cost of electricity, they just wanted their thermostat at 68 degrees, 24/7, as soon as temps started hedging up to 85 degrees outside. They really didn't care because the bill was being split 3, 4, possibly 5 ways. And most guys need the fridge open for 10 minutes to figure out what the want to eat any way.

Travis was in his shower, in the bathroom, which more than likely had one discharge vent, the hall at the top of the stairs more than likely had a return vent. The temperature was probably 68 degrees. He may have been rinsed with cold water, cooling his body. Body fluids were going into the rain for 5 days. Air tight room, no fly, insects, whatever. The dog was gated off to the downstairs, Travis' door was locked.

At 5 days, sure, you're going to smell something, but you're going to assume the dog got into something nasty, pooped, or even drug a dead animal like a gopher into the house. The smell wouldn't get strong until doors were open and the return vents sucked up the smelly air to be recirculated and discharge throughout the entire house.
The friends and room mates unlocked TA bedroom door, knocked and opened the bathroom door. Air from the bathroom gets pushed out by the discharge vent and sucked up by the return vents.
By the time LE arrived, the entire house would smell pretty bad.

Just an FYI if anyone was trying to figure out that particular situation.

I posted this just because it was bugging me.

Sounds like she had a high priced defense team, no skimping there. And her groupies want a re-trial? With what dream team?

Bernina, thanks for the advice. It turns out the colt was a filly. No decomp. Filly is going for a necropsy at New Bolton (University of Pennsylvania). My vet is one of the best breeding vets on the East Coast and get the best of vet care. Both mares were vaccinated at all stages. It may be nothing more than bad luck that I lost both foals. As a horse lover and owner, I am just sad. I think it is time to walk away as some dreams are meant to be just that, dreams.

Zuri, My heart aches for you. Cut yourself a break over the next few days. Just be good to yourself and don't make decisions.
sending you HUGS

This was very informative. I often wondered why there was no pronounced smell of decomp. Thanks for posting

We lived in Phoenix from 1960 to 1970 with a swamp cooler in our apartment and no air condioner in our 53 Chevy. You get used to it. The various Indian tribes lived here for thousands of years with no air conditioners. Little Jodi will get used to it too.

BBM

Dreams are wonderful and as I have said before, some must be given up for whatever reason, but there are new dreams that will come for you, I'm sure of it. You have had your dream of your horses for a while and that was good for however long you had it, but I do understand being sad and mourning for what was.

Things are always changing in anyone's life- some good and some , unfortunately, bad. It's just part of life, IMO, and these changes must be endured or you will "break" ("Bend as the trees in the wind or you will break" ~ Y/N). For myself, I now take my life only as "this day" now that I have gotten older- there is no "10 years" from now in my thoughts- no long time planning of my dreams anymore. This doesn't make me sad tho' as I'm happier and grateful with just "this day" and waking up to another day. To me, there is less stress that way.

I do have one dream and that is for my younger son to finish grad school next year so he is ready to battle the world with a masters degree under his belt. I have tried to help him in anyway possible to attain his dream of being a Hospice Social Worker, but that is his dream, and the young should dream big, IMO, because they are young and with God's help/will, the young will have plenty of time to follow their dreams. I feel that after he graduates, I have done my job and can just relax to enjoy what my life has become and is. I am happy and you will be too after a while.

My poor Zuri, my friend. :therethere: Take heart. I'm so sorry for the loss of your baby horse (again). :sigh:

Yeah, I KNOW..........he's been trying to leave for 2 weeks now?
The first time around, he forgot his wallet and came back an hour later, left again, called from Dolan Springs and was setting up his tent, I told him "Hey, you forgot all this frozen meat and your cooking pans", "no problem", he says, "I'll buy some", but 5 hours later he's back home because he left his debit card and the instructions on how to put up his tent.
He lost his wallet this past Friday, the day before he was supposed to leave this last time...........oh it showed up, after he swears someone pick pocketted him, urgh. 1 police report, 2 "Lost" ads, and calls to the 2 places he went when it "disappeared". It was in his truck.......
This morning he was supposed to leave......nope, has to go to the hardware store for something.

But, I DID get him to order a wallet with a belt chain. For some reason I don't think that's going to help.

I am going to go over EVERYTHING when he finally gets ready to hit the road. This "forgetfulness" is incredibly draining and it really takes a lot NOT to go ballistic, but I will get a vacation, eventually, someday.Yep, it's getting worse. All I can do is go with the flow.

BBM You are a saint, my dear duchess. :loveyou:

I am with you Neesaki as I need to de clutter big time. I hate to throw things out and get rid of things as I always think at the time I might need it someday. I am beyond the point of ridiculousness.

Thanks Bernina and YoNo for the advice. The rules are really good and the thought of leaving my mess to my children really bothers me. It is just so overwhelming. Where do you start?

BBM Start in your closet- that always seem the most cluttered to me (especially if you have a walk-in closet like me- it's always a mess :scared:) and go thru all your books/knickknacks/collections to see what can be let go. It's a start at least.

Hi daisymae. How are you feeling now?
Our poor daisy has broken her shoulder (or her humorous? bone) when she fell off a chair while trimming a hedge. :(
Can you post anything?

I tell ya what, I am the least organized person I know! The system that works best for me is just changing my point of view. I gather a cluttered space into a box. At this time, I consider the entire box as junk and trash, and only retrieve items that I need to save from donation.

Same think with my clothes. I take EVERYTHING out of my closet, consider the pile as a bunch of junk, and only put back the items that I need to "save"

I don't know why it works, but it just does! I get rid of tons of insignificant items. It feels like less of a "Sophie's Choice"

OK daisy :therethere:

The MD said she has a "clean break" of her left arm- "humorous"? and won't need a cast, so she is in a arm sling now.
Lots of pain for her right now and it's very hard to do anything.

I hope you try to rest and just chill. Take those meds the MD gave you and feel better soon.

:blowkiss:

I've finally Googled "humerus" and here's what I found:

humerus%20front.png

Link: http://medical.cdn.patient.co.uk/images/humerus front.png
---------------------------

"The humerus is the long bone in the upper arm, located between the elbow joint and the shoulder...
....Because it connects at the shoulder with a rotational joint, the humerus is instrumental in supporting many of the arm's functions, including all lifting and physical activities. Since the humerus is one of the longest bones in the body, it is one of the most commonly broken or fractured."

http://www.healthline.com/human-body-maps/humerus-bone
---------------------------

"...What is the treatment for a humerus fracture?

The good news is that most humerus fractures will heal without surgery. The majority of patients can be treated with a sling or brace, and with time the fracture will heal. Casting is not possible with most types of humerus fractures....

...Over 90% of patients with humerus fractures and radial nerve damage will have complete recovery of the nerve within 3 to 4 months."

http://orthopedics.about.com/od/brokenbones/a/humerus.htm
-----------------------------

"...Once your fractured humerus starts to heal, you will need physical therapy. Physical therapy helps to restore normal strength in your arm muscles. It also restores normal range of motion in your elbow and shoulder. A course of physical therapy for a fractured humerus usually takes several months...."

Bernina, yes he was to the Vet last week. He has all his shots, blood work is fine, Trying to eat a bit this afternoon of all things baloney!! I know but it is all he will eat. little bits. Dr. did mircroscope on stool , no blood, no worms etc.. Bernina honest I look in his eyes and I know what he wants. He understands English because I talk to him all day. Ground up another baked Cornish hen for him , I try. He is just lying around. He is weak. A week without measurable food~ I know the feeling. Thanks so much ..PS. Buffy is about 10 but very "alive" when well.

I so hope your baby gets better, Nore. I'm just wondering if he could have gotten into some type of poison , pesticides, or other. Sometimes things like that don't show up on blood work. I don't suppose it's his kidneys, they should have detected that if they did a complete blood work up.
BTW, when mine had his kidney failure from the tainted dog food, he was like that. Very weak and listless, sick, couldn't eat. In the beginning he had diarrhea, that was before we knew what it was. They gave him IV fluids to help flush out the toxins and put him on kidney diet food. Thank God for the food change, as not knowing I may have given him more of that same tainted food and kept my baby sick. :( :scared:

Oh, Re: his dog food, treats, etc., he was eating at the time he got sick, you might want to check the FDA website for any recalls if you haven't already. Here's a couple of links for recalls if you're
interested. (((Hugs and Prayers)))
