I hope she is ok.........geesh, in the face. The Daycare has some explaining to do.:gaah:

Try vaping, Kensie, that granddaughter of yours needs you around!:happydance:When you get stressed, you can always hit a higher nic %, but in the meantime, take your nic level down when things are chilled out. It's the ONLY thing that worked for me, plus I can control the amount of nic and how much I vape it........heck you can vape with zero nic.

Seriously, you'll save a ton of money (I bought Kissy with the money I saved the first year) and your body will thank you!

Thanks a lot, Bernina!

I'm thinking about trying vaping too as I'm still not strong enough to succeed quitting.
What makes me hesitating is that actually one doesn't know how the "ingredients" harm our body. Some say it's worse than smoking...
I'd very much appreciate your knowledge and opinion.

Just an observation here..........
Here we are, pretty much peeps who have met on the net with a common desire or interest through the Websleuth forum........and in the last 2-3 days we've shared our stories about alcohol, drugs, rehab, methadone, etc., etc.
With almost if not all peeps coming to similar conclusions about rehabs, drugs to get people off other drugs or alcohol, and the general "man, this really sucks, but what can you do"....................

.......Why are rehabs, Big Pharma, AMA, and the powers that be in Government so f-ing oblivious that RARELY do their solutions WORK? 3-7% of of our addicts and alcoholics WILL say "Nevermore". The rest will continue to relapse the rest of their lives. In the mean time, these same organizations are making billions of dollars off us, including privatized Prisons, Emergency Medical facilities, and the drug manufacturers that make secondary drugs to "treat/stabilize" HIV, Hep C, cirrhosis of the liver, internal organ damage, brain damage ("wet brain",dead brain), and mental illness caused or exasperated by the use of drugs and alcohol.

We're just a random group, a very small random group, and look how many of us have seen and experienced the same things? Something is really wrong. And we all know that money is the bottom line.
Makes you just want to grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I totally agree with you, Bernina.

BBM - That's what makes me thinking/wondering.
And we all know that money is the bottom line.
I'm wondering: Money is the bottom line, or: it isn't.
Can we have both? I doubt.
I'm afraid, we are quite weak. We should be able to deal with this "no". We're strong enough - if we stick together - to live in a consequent way.
That's what's troubling me so much: what do we want? And how far are we willing to go?
Sorry, does this make sense? It's such an essential problem...

Shingles are caused by a virus (Herpes Zoster) so antibiotics would not be effective for its treatment. I checked the inert ingredients of Acyclovir and there is no sulfa in that drug, so it should be safe to take. Outbreaks of shingles can be minimal to maximal, such as what you have experienced twice on the right side of your head. Shingles travels along a nerve, and cranial neves do not cross the midline. Your lymph node inflammation may be due to a symptomatic outbreaks of shingles and it is indicative the body fighting off a virus or bacterial infection. The vinegar and alcohol drops in your ear is caustic and will increase the inflammation. Big time. For wax, either use debrix drops or have your doctor remove it manually.

You can go online to drugs.com and check out the inert ingredients yourself of all your medicines. Levifloxin is a quinolone and must be taken with food. You need to stay upright after taking it, so it doesn't cause indigestion. You can also take the pill and follow it with a cracker or bread.

Hope that helps some. Please take good care.

Wow, Zuri! In this case,I'm not directly concerned but anyhow: you seem to be an expert and so generous - wonderful!

Thanks a lot, Bernina!

I quit by using patches and disposable e-cigs. I smoked way to long and have never looked back. I still have a cig thlngy that has no nicotine for those moments (vary rairly) love love not smoking and wish I'd quit earlier. I didn't think I'd ever quit

I quit 15 years ago. I was smoking 2 1/2 packs a day. Never thought I could go a day without them. One of the most helpful things was an online quit smoking forum. We were all in the same boat, and it helped tremendously.

I smoke and don't want to quit. I know I should, have doubts on whether I could, but absolutely love smoking. I know I am addicted to nicotine but beyond that I feel smoking is there when no one else is. Its my vice and my crutch.

I spent a nice day today with my eldest daughter. Then babysat 2 grandchildren early evening. Did not even get home and daughter number 2 told me my granddaughter had been vomiting on and off for a couple of days and had tummy pains. She took her to the doctor on Thursday and he said stomach bug but grand daughter is still vomiting, has diarrhea and a pain on her right side. I am now watching her younger sister while my daughter brings her daughter to the ER. Needless to say, I am slightly worried she has an appendicitis. I sure hope not.

Smoked off and on for over 20 years and finally quit when I married my then-husband, who had heart health issues. Didn't want to subject him to my second hand smoke. Must have been ready to quit; it was easy for me and I've never craved another ciggie. To quit anything addictive, you first really have to want to quit. I really wanted to quit.

Now, of course, I wish I had never started; was an asthmatic kid, outgrew that...and then it resurfaced a few years ago. Big time. Just what someone with asthma should do...smoke! lol

Youth really is wasted on the young. I was so stupid. (Had a good time for myself! But I'm paying for it now.)

OK, time to go watch some baseball and NASCAR with my now-husband. He's a Yankee from Boston but I've turned him into a sorta-Florida cracker....he eats grits, watches stock car racing, and likes Willie Nelson. His family knows he is lost to them...:D

Goodnight all!

Just a quick FAQ about vape stuff:

*Ingredients in e-cigarette liquid: USP Propylene glycol, USP vegetable glycerine, food grade flavorings, and pharmaceutical-grade nicotine.

Q: Propylene Glycol is Anti-freeze!!!! That's just crazy!!!!
A: Ethylene glycol is the toxic ingredient of many anti-freezes that is extremely toxic. Propylene glycol is NOW used in some anti-freezes like Sierra because it is non-toxic.
Take a look at the ingredients of many foods in your fridge and stuff in your bathroom, ie, toothpaste, mouth wash etc. It's common in foodstuffs, drinks, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. It's also used in those "fog machines" at concerts.

Q: What the heck is vegetable glycerine?
A: Also so known as glycerol, it is sweet tasting and non-toxic, a "sugar alcohol" made from vegetables, also used as a sugar substitute. Once again, found in many of the groups listed above.

Q: Food grade flavorings, what is this witchcraft, you mean like fruit, bakery, candy, liquors, coffee, sodas, etc?
A: Exactly. Here is a link to some of the more popular flavors and producers: http://www.rtsvapes.com/Liquid_Flavoring_s/88.htm

Q: What is pharmaceutical grade nicotine?
A: It's the same stuff used in nicotine patches and gum. It is extracted from tobacco, and because ecigs don't burn or ignite the nicotine, there is no tar or carcinogens involved. Nicotine is currently being studied for use in slowing Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and helping ADA, and ADHA. It's safety is at 30 mgs, although 45 mg is it's ceiling before it becomes toxic. Most e-cigs or e-juice peaks at 24 mg nic. You can figure out what mg to start at comparing the brand of cigarette you smoke with charts found on the internet.

Q: All the studies say it's BAD!!! What about the formaldehyde?
A: The study that almost all the anti-tobacco groups (antz) quote is not only years old, but also tested pre-made cig-a-likes (e-cigs that look like cigarettes) from China. China doesn't have quality control, honestly, you don't know if someone is mixing his juice in a bathtub and tooling his own components. If memory serves me, 3 of 10 cig-a-likes detected formaldehyde, and it was a product of the manufacturing process of the "tube".
The vaping community in the United States is self monitoring. The last thing they want is to be classified as a "cigarette" which is combusted. The vaping community has set the bar far higher than any regulatory agency.

The best place to go to get your feet wet is the "E Cigarette Forum" https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

My primary care physician, my dentist and my head doc ALL have told me the believe it's a better choice, a safer choice, and quite possibly, a "no harm" alternative. And YOU control the amount of nic you take in, not a patch that's on your arm 24/7, or gum that just doesn't quite do it for you.

Be prepared for a learning curve, there's nothing difficult about it, just the determination to quit smoking. Some people reduce their nic levels to 0 and continue vaping because it's just enjoyable. Vaping will help you with the "hand to mouth", and programmed cig break urges......like lighting a cig when you pick up the phone, grab coffee, or get in the car.

It's all about a low heat that vaporizes the e-juice. You could get just about the same type of effect sucking in the steam off a pot of stewing tomatoes. (yes, tomatoes have nicotine in them, as do all the other nightshade plants)

All I know is that it's the only thing that worked for me. 2 1/2 years smoke free, didn't even "cheat", just jumped straight into it and never looked back. January 10th, 2013. <---last smoke date.

Ok...........used up enough space!!!!

My daughter has been doing e cig for over a year. She went from 12 nicotine level to 3. She buys all different flavors that smell great. It may be safer, but I notice a lot of teens are vaping now.

Hi all , these posts are so screwed up its pathetic. The dates are all mixed! terrible trying to read. Maybe it's just me. cant keep track..:seeya:

Nore, I have no idea why you are having such a problem. Have you reported it to a mod or Dave the tech guy? Maybe they can help you. Has anyone else had this issue, too? I would be soooo frustrated!

Glad you persist in getting here, though. I would miss you a lot!

I hope all is well. How old is she? If it is appendicitis it's much different now a days than when we were growing up. My son had appendicitis last August and one month later, to the day, his son (the one we've been raising) had his go south too. We went to the ER about four in the morning, and the dr. told him that she'd looked at his blood work, but hadn't seen his cat scan yet, she'd only been fooled once before and was sure it was just a a bug or acid reflux, then came back a few minutes a later and told him he'd fooled her. So he was set for surgery at eight, it was done in day surgery! and took about an hour and he was back in his room. And we were home by six pm that evening. he didn't have any stitches. They glued it to together. He had a small band aid and that was it. The next month my oldest sister called and told me she thought she was having appendicitis so I took her , but her's wasn't.

When Anna was a year old she started crying and there was no soothing her. So we took off the the dr. and he checked her over and sent us to a new pedi to check her over. So we drive over there with a screaming child, get in and undress her, the dr. is checking her over and asked when she'd pooped last, and dh and I were trying to remember who'd changed her last poopie diaper. So, after Anna and her daddy and I went through the trauma of a suppository, I made sure to add more fiber to her diet.

ha! Maybe it didn't rain where you are, but it sure rained here early Saturday morning!

yesterday afternoon at the hospital...checking up on Ryan. Test showed nothing earth shattering that we should be concerned about. He is awake now and not in the best frame of mind. I left the hospital and will not go back unless I am asked.

All have a beautiful blessed day.

Thank you very much for these interesting infos about vaping, Bernina (post 469).
I'll read more in this forum-link you've sent me.

January 10 is a day you're certainly very proud of. Congratulations!!

May I ask you which e-cig you used? Do you continue vaping?

Thanks to all of you who share(d) their smoke quitting experience with me!

You can only do what you can do, my friend. At least his medical tests are encouraging. ((HUG))
