BBM Doggie treats? What kind?

Most days I'm very busy, but I can't tell you, with what.
The days just fly by and I'm busy-busy with a little-of-this and a little-of-that. :floorlaugh:

Earlier this Spring, it was Spring cleaning. Now it's trying to finish my gardening chores before the Summer heat starts. So far, the weather
has been unseasonably cool and it's been very pleasant to work in the garden. When the Summer heat starts, I plan on being a lady
of leisure (of course, everyday I'm a lady of leisure since I retired ) and spend my days in the A/C reading some books, doing
my puzzles, and just generally being a lazy bum. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
Ahhhh- this is the life. :)

I hear ya. On my "slow days" I tend to find myself with little time to actually sit and relax.... I keep popping up to do "just this one thing" over and over again. Somehow, the days are filled with something to do

Doggie treats are basically a pumpkin based receipe, then I add whatever I have on hand, such as applesauce, peanut butter, oatmeal, ground carrots. It keeps their potty habits "just right" and is healthy. I hope it averts another bout with bladder stones for one of our gals.

The brutal culture of violence at notorious 'Shawshank' prison where 'Lucky Luciano', Tupac and ODB all did time

"Clinton Correctional Facility opened in 1845 as part of a new reform-style of prison but it has since earned a reputation for brutality
Recent report found there is little oversight, guards regularly beat inmates, and racial tension festers between prisoners and correction officers
While 63 percent of inmates in New York state are locked up for violent crimes, at Clinton, that figure is about 90 percent
Killers David Sweat and Richard Matt remain on the run after pulling off a Shawshank Redemption-style escape on Saturday
When the escapees are caught they'll likely spend the rest of their lives in isolation 'in a living hell'..."

Maryland joins New York as Pennsylvania border state banning fracking

"...Last December, New York state’s newly elected Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a statewide ban on fracking. The declaration came after years of debate in the Empire State on the safety of the drilling method.

Cuomo’s announcement came after the release of a long-awaited state Department of Environmental Conservation review on fracking's potential effects on health and the environment that was six years in the making. A study by state health officials found “significant uncertainties” about fracking.

Vermont and Massachusetts also have banned fracking, but they do not have any Marcellus Shale deposits of gas and the moves are largely symbolic..."

7th Victim Identified in Connecticut Serial Killer Case

"A seventh body found at a Connecticut dumping ground believed to have been used by a serial killer was identified Monday as another woman who had been missing since 2003.
Medical examiners identified the woman as Marilyn Gonzalez, 26, a mother of two girls ages 7 and 11, New Britain Police Chief James Wardwell said. She had been missing since leaving her home in Waterbury, he said...

William Devin Howell, a drifter with a lengthy criminal record, has emerged as the prime suspect in a case that could disclose the existence of one of the most prolific serial killers in New England history. He is serving a 15-year prison sentence for manslaughter for the killing of one of the people found buried behind the strip mall — Nilsa Arizmendi, a 33-year-old mother of four from Wethersfield...."

Missouri Double-Murderer Richard Strong Executed Despite Pleas For Clemency

"Missouri murderer Richard Strong was executed by lethal injection Tuesday night after authorities turned aside a last-minute plea from his daughter, who was only months old when Strong killed her mother and 2-year-old half-sister.

Strong, 47, was pronounced dead at 6:58 p.m. at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, Missouri, according to the state Department of Corrections.

He ate a last meal of fried chicken, a cheeseburger and donuts, and asked forgiveness, according to the department. His last words were: “Jehovah-jireh, you’re my provider. Your grace is sufficient for me. Forgive me for my sin. Abba-Abba, take my soul in your hands.”.."

Bladder stones? How horrible. :(

Yes, the poor girl strains to poo, and then she could not pee. Major surgery then, but I try to keep her "regular" with cranberry supplements and these biscuits. Two or three a day seem to work.

The basic recipe came from here: http://www.food.com/recipe/pumpkin-dog-biscuits-28099
I got a small bag of Carnation dry milk since it lasts quite a while. The recipe makes a whole large cookie sheet of tootsie roll shaped or nearly two trays of cookie shapes. I don't do the bone shape .... too lazy. They don't fluff up, so you can pack them close on the tray. I roll the dough into a jelly roll shape, slice it lengthwise and then slice those again. Then I flatten one roll into whatever shape I want (usually a semi flat slightly rounded roll) and slice off my cookies. Add any healthy ingredients you want, add enough water to hold the dough together without being too sticky. A can of unsweetened pumpkin makes three batches, so I freeze the leftover into two containers for the next batch.

I have added chopped cranberries, natural peanut butter, dry oatmeal, dry chopped parsley (for breath!) unsweetened applesauce, or grated carrots at different times. KEEP REFRIGERATED when baked.

Blend 2 eggs with 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
Add 1/2 tsp. salt and 2 TB. dry milk
Blend in 2 and 1/2 cups flour (wheat is better)
Water to moisten and blend well, @ 1/8 cup
(add any other healthy ingredients if desired)

Bake 20 minutes, turn over, bake another 20 minutes, at 350 degrees

Hello to all my SB friends :loveyou:
I have enjoyed reading EVERY single post. Please don't be offended if I didn't/COULDN'T "thank you," as it was not for lack of trying. WS decides who I can thank and refreshing for me takes forever.

Did anyone else notice that after American Pharoah claimed his place in history, the way he kept laying his sweet head on the outriders horse as they were taking the walk back? It was so endearing! I LOVE that horse :heartbeat:

Hi Becky! :loveyou:

Where have you been keeping yourself?

I've been checking the other thread--Sentencing and Beyond--fairly regularly, waiting for the release of Sheriff Joe's report on the killer's behaviour. So far, nothing. I'm also waiting for the restitution hearing later this month: it's scheduled for the 21st (iIrc), which is close to my birthday, and I'm pretty confident the results of that hearing will make a nice birthday gift. :)

How have you been? Summer is finally here in the Great White North and, as usual, I've been over-ambitious with my garden: planting here, there and everywhere, and hoping for the best. The results months later are rarely what I had hoped for! Oh well, it's good mental therapy if nothing else.

Talk to you again, I hope!

Federal judge orders last 'Angola Three' inmate released after 40 years in solitary

"NEW ORLEANS — The last of the "Angola Three" inmates, whose decades in solitary confinement in connection with the death of a prison guard drew international condemnation and became the subject of two documentaries, was ordered released Monday.

The ruling would free 68-year-old Albert Woodfox after more than 40 years in solitary, which human rights experts have said constitutes torture...."

BBM

I have read other accounts that it's actually been 43 years in solitary confinement, but whichever, he has already been punished far more than the worst-of-the-worst criminals have ever been (aside from the death penalty).

And unlike JA, his guilt is very much in doubt. I can't believe LA is actually challenging this judge's decision. I hope he is released ASAP.

JMO

43 years in solitary, how can one function in society after all that time, imagine what he doesn't know???

Hi, I can only thank a couple also. Pleas know I always appreciate everyones posts. Not much going on right now but after JA we all needed a rest. Great weather here. I have decided Molly is a Pekinese ! this after many pages of studying noses etc.. We have had problems with potty outside. She is so small our snows in the winter ought to be a hoot! The snow will be higher than her. Has anyone here tried the potty pads? Amy says no but I'm game to try them , at least in winter. Oh she tries to "talk" I say tell gramma and she makes loud sounds. I believe she came from Korea thru "Happy Angels" Our SPCA gives a free dog of your choice to people over 55, providing they qualify not money wise but in animal care. They are taking dogs from Korea as people EAT them. Poor little things!! She is very mild mannered, loves to play. SPCA only allows one dog free. She is two yrs. and has 3 teeth extracted already. I feed her Biljac as its easy on her little mouth. "Bony Bones" as a treat. (that is Milk Bones)..see all later. :HHJP:

Oh Nore, I agree with Amy ..... only because I would rather clear a 3 foot square of snow and hurry her in and out over having to pick up dirty pads. More power to you if you try it, but she will think it is OK year around. Cleaning cat litter boxes is bad enough for me. If we have a bad winter, I clear a track around the tree just outside the back door and if they don't want to go further, it works nicely when it comes time for mama to scoop it up.

Yes, same here with the thanks button. Temperamental, isn't it? And still having trouble with only partial page loading often. :stormingmad:

Breezy and sporadic short storms today. I have been out organizing my gardening tools .... another dirty job. Found my missing BEST spade and weeding tool that I misplaced recently. Hooray ... I did not want to have to buy another.

I still cannot get into any new trials or cases. Trying to keep up with a couple local Michigan missing or murdered, but that is enough for me for now. Whew... that inmate #whatever wore me out!!

Have a great day, all. See ya later.

Hey all!

trying to type with two kittys sleeping in my lap...

Yeah, my Thanks button works once in awhile... so a BIG :gthanks: to ALL the posts from you all!!! :happydance:

Yes, I too am waiting for Sheriff Joe's report... :waiting: and I believe the restitution hearing is on June 22nd a Monday!

Weather here - cloudy with a spit of rain... and MUGGY!! :gaah: everything is sticky!

Going to and try to catch up with the Holmes trial - have to read yesterday's, as I heard 3 jurors were excused!

Catch you all later!

Really weird weather. See, it's against the rules to have rain in June in Arizona. Yesterday and today, it's raining and cloudy. Last week it rained one day. Arizona has like zilch precipitation in June.

But........"officially", the Az Monsoon starts June 15 and ends September 15, though we almost never ever have rain before the 4th of July. So I'm just going to enjoy it while it last!!!!
