Thanks, GiGi was a mom, too - she would bathe & play with the cats. When they were little and learning to crawl up the side of the bed or the sofa, she would push them up with her nose. Wish I'd ever been able to get a picture of that! KoKo (other cat) slept with her at night and got depressed after she died. Dammit always sleeps with me. None of my others did after they got out of "kitten hood" - she's nearly 3 now.

BBM: :giggle: we always wanted to name one of our dogs that, but never quite had the nerve. :giggle:

While I was at The Spring Mill Inn and since Spring Mill Park is known for grinding their own corn from the original mill; I had tastes of cornbread cookies, cornbread pie, , cornbread cake, cornbread corn pudding and the list goes on... Some were ok, some were yuck and some were good. My fav was the cornbread chocolate chip cookie bars! yummy

I remember back in the 60's when I was in elementary school going on a field trip to Spring Mills! I can remember the huge limestone gristmill that grinded the corn meal. I thought it was fascinating to watch. There was a pioneer village, and a cave. We didn't get to go in the cave though. That's all I can remember, as I was only 9 or 10 at the time. Well that and the fact that it was at least 50 yeas ago! That might have been all they had way back then :smile:

They have the Spring Mill Inn in the park. It was built in the late 1930. Beautiful place, built out of lime stones. And the have the dining room in the inn. The also have a pool in the basement of the inn. Plus an Olympic size outdoor pool in an other area. The Grissom Memorial and Nature Center. And can't forget all the hiking trails and bike trails.

The Grissom Memorial honors Hoosier astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom, one of the seven Mercury astronauts and America's second man in space. The Memorial tells the story of Gus Grissom's life and his contributions to the space program. Exhibits include Grissom's space suit, the Gemini 3 Molly Brown spacecraft, and artifacts from his personal and professional life. Gus Grissom is from Mitchell, IN.

I have a question for everyone: each state has a 'nickname'. Indiana goes by the Hoosier State. We became known for this because, many, many, many years ago when a person who came upon a house and knock, the resident would call out 'who's there'? So there it is folks. Hoosier State.

Now my question is for you; what is your states nickname and how did it become known for that name?

I don't know about any one else - but my pages are often centered.
I have to refresh or go to another page, then come back - then the page is back to normal (left justification).
Not sure what the problem, or why it happens, but sure is bothersome.
Sometimes only half the page is centered :sheesh:

Michigan's official nickname is Great Lakes State (this nickname is featured on the Michigan quarter). Michigan is also known as Wolverine State and Water Wonderland. Michigan is surrounded on three sides by the Great Lakes, and is separated between the two peninsulas by water. Michigan State is because the lower peninsula is shaped like a mitten. Wolverines were common in the upper peninsula at one time, I don't know if there are many left anywhere now.

We had a phone call last night from an I recognized number, so I ignored it. Checked messages this morning ..... "The IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. Call this number.". SCAM!!!! Delete!

Don't fall for it. IRS will never call, they would send a letter.

Snipped and BBM by me for focus. According to the inmate, her swamp cooler is so effective that she needs not 1, but 2 sweatshirts (which must be purchased from the commissary, hint hint :facepalm. The next thing you know she is going say she made shaved ice for her fellow inmates by scraping all the frost from her cell walls and mixing it with lemonade powder. :laughing:

I'm sure the sweatshirts < (send money) she is lying talking about "purchasing from the commissary" she already has big plans for. You know, with her being the UNIQUE designer that she is. She is no doubt going to take her golf pencil and write SURVIVOR on them, then add that to her popular line of T-shirts for sale.

Well Kentucky's nickname is the Bluegrass state :dunno: Our bluegrass is actually green.
Supposedly, bluegrass is found in many of our pastures due to the fertile soil. Ohh-Kay....it's still green.

Have you guys seen the recent findings that having cats around young children has been linked to schizophrenia!?

Sorry, too lazy/tired to post a link, but it was quite disturbing. Apparently, it's connected to mites that are common to outdoor cats.

So, no bad on you, Itsy, since your cats are indoors. But as someone who once regularly took in feral cats and "domesticated" them (haha, as if), your post reminded me of how upsetting that news was.

Just glad my adult kids have turned out okay!

One reason I'm not buying this. We have had rare high humidity levels in Arizona this week. A swamp cooler is not effective with higher humidity. She's lying her azz off.

If you lived anywhere in the deserts of Arizona up til the late 1960's, you had a swamp cooler, a fan, or you just suffered through it. Not until air conditioning in houses and automobiles become affordable, did the population of Arizona take off. Air conditioning was a status symbol, along the lines of television sets when they first came out.
It was extremely common, up until that same time frame, for stores to close up for the summer. 5th Avenue and Old Town Scottsdale all but turned into a ghost town, and my parents usually went on their buying trips in Scandinavia during that time.
281129 is in the worst of the worst. I'd rather be in the Florence Prison than Perryville, at least you have green fields from prison farm to look at. She's got nothing but dirt for miles around and when the dust storms start coming in, just think of those computer generated dust storms made for movies like "The Scorpion King" or "Hildago".. Rain doesn't always follow and you're just covered in fine sand and dust. You can literally see the heat coming off the ground. The fried egg on the sidewalk? We are the champions.
