KCL was hit by a car as she was walking to her car with groceries last night. Fortunately, she sustained no critical injuries and was very, very lucky and discharged from the ER early this morning in the wee hours. I know many of you follow her blog and are friends with her on FB. I just wanted to let you all know. Xo

I have been hesitating to post this, as I certainly don't want any time to be taken away from Pages heartbreaking needs of encouragement from our group. She needs us (especially Zuri) way more than I do.
I'll make it short.

My youngest daughter has dated her boyfriend for 4 years. They were engaged last year, and I put down 2,000 last summer to hold the venue for this July. I helped her with a down payment for a small house and they have been living there 7 months. His grandparents gave them money to buy a couch, and his parents gave them a OLD kitchen table that was in their basement that they never used. She took her queen sized bedroom suite and her TV that was in her room from here.

She reminded him Monday that he still needed to get his passport, and that she was on her way to pay the remainder of their honeymoon off. (they were going to Sandals in Jamaica) He said OK, I'll see you later. After she got home from paying ^....
He, (we'll just call him Dick for further reference) told her he didn't want to get married and broke up with her. He went back home and the VERY next day while she was at work, his MOTHER and dad? came in and took the couch and kitchen table!!!

She came home to an empty house :furious:

My little girl is devastated and I don't know how to help her. There is so much more that I left out, but his mom is very domineering and this is her only child. He is 26 year old mama's boy and I kept telling my daughter that there was ALWAYS going to be 3 in her marriage, mama and them. Personally I think she dodges a bullet, but OMG the wedding with 200 people invited ???????????????? HELP

I'm not proof reading, so forgive my mistakes.

OMG! How heartbreaking for your daughter. Dick's parents sound very officious and Dick obviously has issues. I am just so sorry that your daughter is going through this. Further down the road, she will find that she lucked out not marrying this guy. The power struggle between Dick's mom and your daughter would have lead to so much resentment and I doubt your daughter would have been happy in the long run.

As far as removing the sofa and table, totally classless. Dick should have called her and told her that he would like them back. No doubt his mama influenced that decision. Is your daughter still able to stay in her home without hardship? Or is Dick on the deed and mortgage?

Geez Dmacky, I am so very sorry. Dick needs to reimburse your daughter for all the money she is out for the wedding. Hopefully he will man up. Here's hoping. Please give your daughter hugs from me. I am heartbroken for her disappointment and disillusionment. Xoxo

Dmacky, I just wanted to say that having a MIL who constantly is vying for your husband's attention does cause marital strife. I lived it. Your daughter will find someone who loves her and can set healthy boundaries with his mother, hopefully. I am just so sad for her in the moment, but relieved at the same time she won't have 3 people in her marital bed, figuratively speaking. It gets old really fast. Xoxo

Phoenix hits 114 degrees, ties record set in 1896

http://www.kpho.com/story/29346339/phoenix-hits-114-degrees-ties-record-set-in-1896?autostart=true

This week just keeps getting hotter in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix has reached 114 degrees, tying the record for this date set back in 1896 when the records began.A large portion of the state is under Excessive Heat warnings and watches through Monday.

Perryville temps, you can add a degree or 3, it's just asphalt, concrete and desert. Believe me, after going there sometimes 3-4 times a week for 2 summers, it's REALLY hot. You can feel the temp increase as you drive out of the city.

Good morning, afternoon and evening!!

Okay - first of all - I got a gray or is it grey box, so I went to "advanced" and got a white one!! :happydance: and I do NOT have JavaScript or whatever that was above ^^ that Spellbound mentioned, so WHY do I have a gray/grey box?? :waitasec: Must be something else...

:tyou: all for the kind words on little bro's writings! I didn't know he was that good! I will post some of his short stories, if you like, when I get copies. Will be interesting to read! And I loved going crayfishing with my family and bringing them back and cooking them! He brought back so many wonderful memories of those times! :) And I remember the skating rink he mentioned. I loved doing that at the camp grounds in Guerneville! We lived in Novato at the time. Oh I miss him... :sigh:

and Thanks for all the "Did You Knows?" coffeejunkie!! I learn something new every day here! Love it! :luv:
Did NOT know there were no ants in Iceland, Antarctica and Greenland??!!

Oh NO! for KCL! :scared: Hope she mends FAST!! :ouch:

and Yikes Dmacky! But as Zuri said above - she's really lucky NOT to get this Mother in Law! Better learning about this sooner than later! I too know! LOL! But I don't think she'll get anything from ex-boyfriend for the stuff his mother took... Do hope you can get your money back that you put down!?! And you still have time to notify the 200 people; don't know "what" you can say to them though! :D Hope all works out for the best!

Now will do what someone - sorry can't remember who you were! :blushing: but will copy this post on my notepad JUST in case WS goes screwy on me...

Later! :seeya:

Dmacky, I would have put it the same way as Zuri. I really hope you can comfort her a bit and encourage her later on to realize the big luck that this bad luck is hiding in these first very sad days. (is this understandable???)
And: lots of big hugs to your daughter from me, too!!!!

To have to inform 200 people that there won't be a wedding sounds really weird. But I imagine that your daughter will inform only the people she invited (her family & friends) by indicating the brutal fact in two sentences.
No doubt, there will be a wave of empathy and compassion that will give her the strength she will need.
But she surely will need some time to recover from such a devastating experience. It's quite similar to a beloved person passing away, istn't it?

Zuri, thank you for letting us know. I hope she is truly well, no major bumps or bruises or concussion. Hopefully the car was going slowly if it was in a parking lot. If she was crossing a street, the it may have been more serious. Give her my love, if you speak with her.... I will send an email her way.

Dmacky, how awful for your daughter! (and for your money :stormingmad: ). I know she is much better off this happened now, rather than after they married or had children to consider, or they were standing at the altar, but it hurts badly. I do hope his name is not on the mortgage.... get a lawyer to have him removed, if it is. A quick-claim deed may even work, if he will sign off.

Darn it, Niner, I had hoped that tip would help with the gray box. Sorry :blushing:
Yes, please do share more of your brother's writings when you can. I really enjoyed the crayfish one.

Gaah! I am sorry this keeps happening to you. Miss you, Nore! Be well and have a good day.

Ok. On the side ads, there was an ad stating "A lot of lonely women are on this site". "Click here", which I did not. Then ads for the Blood Bank or Red Cross came up. WTH? Is this because of the Gypsy Blanchard thread that I have these cookies? Or did they want me to join their site? There was a beautiful girl on the ad, so maybe they saw my picture.... LOL.

I haven't been posting buy I do check in every few days. So sad to see the sad news from some of you. I'm so sorry for those of you going through loss. Here is my sad news. I lost my job last week. I am now looking for work. I went for an interview today and was really shocked by the appearance of some of the applicants. I was told to come dressed in business casual. It was a cattle call when I got there. No big deal but some of the people were seriously not dressed for a job. One woman was wearing an oversized T-shirt as a mini dress, no pants. You could see her pink undies through the fabric. Her green flip flops added a touch of color to her ensemble. Then there were the two women in bold pattern leggings with sandles and the woman wearing pajama bottoms. It was quite an experience.

Dmacky, so sorry to hear this. But most certainly, your daughter dodged a bullet. As hard as it is for her right now, at some point she'll be relieved that this happened BEFORE the wedding. She'll have better radar as she begins to date again and meet future potential husbands, one of whom will no doubt be head-and-shoulders above this guy.

More than anything, she needs your presence right now. She's probably questioning her self-worth, attractiveness, sense of reality, etc. Doing whatever you can do to allay those fears and prop her up emotionally will probably go a long way to helping her heal and feel whole again. And hugs --- this calls for a whole lot of hugs! (Human touch can work miracles, especially between a mother and child.)

It got up to 123 degrees back in June of 1990 (meteorologist will say 122, but what's one degree?).

Let's all click our red shoes and wish for a repeat, lol!

Pages, I asked DH MD about Lily's blisters. Hoof, Hand and Mouth, aka Fifth's Disease has blisters to the mouth, sole of feet and palms only. Sounds like new daddy was doing some aggressive suctioning and probably panicked. I am glad he is taking parenting classes as typically one doesn't need to use such forceful back blows that crack the cartilage. But Bless him, he called 911 and that just tells me that his intentions were good.

Sleeping 12 hours? A 3 month old? I agree That is atypical and that made me wonder about nutrition. Babies will start to sleep maybe 4-6 hours a night once they reach a certain weight. You may be right about the Benadryl drops. I can see that woman sedating Lily as she didn't want her sleep disturbed :(.

It must be such a relief to little mama to have such wonderful, lovely and knowledgeable mamas like you there for resources. I had no idea how to give my new born son a bath and was really scared. Fortunately, my DH could show me. Babies are so tiny!

Lily has almost doubled her birth weight, and that was old fashion sleep through the night that what we were told. She's taking five ounces (we up it an ounce last week when she drained her bottle) and she only sleeps that long on the weekends. They did change her formula because it had iron and making her constipated. The dr. said the skull fracture could of been during little mama's labor. It was hard and long and finally a c section, so it is possible.

Loli-Pop haven't spoke with us directly, and are letting her sister be our news source. They both are a wreck and haven't eaten much. They did get to see Lily Monday night , before CPS took custody of her. Monday at the hospital Loli - Pop heard new daddy's mother say now remember your story and a little later don't lose it. All in front of people. Makes it seem she's throwing him under the bus?

Zuri , we grew up around babies, and even though I had twenty four years of taking care of a baby it seemed like all that experience went out of my mind the first few weeks. I kept her next to me in case she stopped breathing or was chocking - all the things that go through your mind with a newborn baby, and I hovered over anyone that was holding her. I cut all the ribbons off her sleepers - I boiled her diapers in case the water wasn't hot enough in the washer, then I washed them.

When dh and I made bottles (when I got home from the hospital I was to tense, nursing her wasn't going to happen) it was like handling nuclear material. Both of us in gloves and aprons and boiling hot water - and that was before we filled and sterilized them. When we had our son two years later, you didn't have to sterilize bottles and binkies. It was throw them in the dishwasher and it was OK. You also didn't leave the house or let a lot of people around the baby for six weeks. Times have changed.
