Oh yes, watching these babies will be fun!

My shoulder is slowly healing but it still hurts and I'm not doing any range of motion exercises cause I don't know where to find them. I missed the last appt. cause I couldn't afford it, but will get back over there. Meanwhile I use the arm as much as I can without doing anything I shouldn't do. Thank you for asking.

I haven't responded to your Lily situation, but please know I care very much and wish the very best possible outcome, page bender. We go back a long way! It just breaks my heart hearing everything. :loveyou:
I have finally caught up and just wanted to say that I'm saying a prayer for everyone here.

I'm a little irritated because it seems like every news media outlet I read is dying because there is no chaos in South Carolina. We are a loving state and I am proud of the dignity shown by our citizens.
Nine beautiful lives lost...my heart breaks.

For Daisy

Okay this may sound crazy but my mom was a woman of home remedies. This is a remedy for soreness that she used on me and believe it or not it really worked.

I twisted my ankle one day on the way to work and was crippled by the time I got home. Mom brought out a bag of corn meal and a bottle of apple cider vinegar. She put a cup of cornmeal in a cotton bag and poured the vinegar in a deep bowl. She totally saturated the cornmeal bag in the vinegar until it was completely wet. She then placed the bag on my ankle and kept re-saturating it every hour or so. for about 6 hours. Because cornmeal dries to its original consistency it allowed the vinegar to mold to my ankle. Unlike salt, sugar, or flour, cornmeal will dry out and be what it was before you ever wet it. The next morning I had no pain and no swelling. I have used this remedy many times since then.

Thanks, Wagara .... I might try that but it might be a bit stinky. :)

Where do you live in SC?

Thank you to my caretakers. I have studied the links and ordered one of those stretch bands on ebay. :) Meanwhile I'll start on some of those exercises - either before of after the afternoon Braves game.

They do not sell bookmarks in Michigan?

:happydance:

Bookmarks? You mean those bits of paper I have to tear off a notepad when reading library books? :giggle:

Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer

https://youtu.be/IOV96BCAvZc

Did You know…

1. The average American eats around 5 1/2 gallons of ice cream a year. July is the National Ice Cream month because it is the month the most ice cream is sold.

2. Mosquitoes have been around for 30 million years. They can detect mammals from 100 feet away especially warm-blooded creatures (that’s why they love human!!) And they have visual sensors that detect movement and contrast in colors.

3. A cricket’s chirp frequency fluctuates with temperature. Count the number of times a cricket chirps in 15 seconds, then add 37 to whatever number you reach and you have an approximate outside temperature (in Fahrenheit)!

4. Watermelon is actually a vegetable, not a fruit! It is most closely related to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash. The watermelon is composed of 92% water and early explorers often used hollowed out watermelons as canteens.

5. Popsicle was invented by accident by an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson in 1905. He accidentally left a mixture of powdered soda and water, with a stirring stick, on his porch, and awoke the next morning to find a frozen pop! Cherry flavor popsicle is the number one favorite!

6. June was named either for Juniores, the lower branch of the Roman Senate, or Juno, the wife of Jupiter, a Roman god.

7. The largest wedding, in recorded history, took place in Korea on August 25, 1995. 35,000 couples were married in the Olympic Stadium in Seoul by Sun Myung Moon. 325,000 other couples were married by satellite link around the world.

8. The first National Spelling Bee was held on June 17, 1825.

9. 1827 the first swimming school opened in the United States in Boston, Massachusetts. John Quincy Adams and John James Audubon were students of this school!

10. In North Africa, the longest day of the year, Midsummer's Eve, June 24th, is celebrated.

11. The 'dog days' of summer, which are the hot, sticky days, get their name from the rising of the Sirius, the Dog Star. The Sirius rises around the hottest time of the year.

12. On July 4th the North American Butterfly Association holds butterfly counts. In 2001, 300,000 butterflies were counted in 48 states, Canada and Mexico.

13. On August 28, 1963 Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington, D.C

14. The modern Summer Olympics were revived in 1896.

15. The first bathing suit for women was created in the 1800s. It was long sleeved with woolen bloomers.

One way to help build strength and range of motion would be start slowly. The ones I did involved a giant rubber band. You (not just you but anyone) can do them without the rubber band.

Also, and it's hard to believe, but icey cold water works better on some injuries than heat. When I strained a muscle by my leg and went to therapy they had me put my leg - up to mid thigh -in this freezing vat of icy water. It was like reaching in to grab a ice cold coke from an old fashion coke boxes of long ago. Or a beer cooler. but after the initial shock it really starts to feel good. Much better than heat. I don't think you wouldn't want to take a cold shower? LOL. In Texas in the summer there is no cold water. It comes out lukewarm.

I agree, icey cold water is really good for treatment.

Concerning the rubber band: yes, you can do it without.
But it's really good to work with resistance. You could just use an inner tube of a bike (or fix two of them together to get a good length) and it'll work great. You'll regulate the resistance by varying the length of the tubes. Don't cut it, of course, but put some loops around your wrist.
You can fix it at a door handle, a heating tube, etc. but you can also just step on it. It's a very smart fitness tool for free that can replace lot's of fitness engines ...
I always have one in my travel bag...

The original rubber band is called "Thera-Band" and you can find a bunch of stretching exercices on youtube.

To all that suggested my daughter could just get a quitclaim deed, I originally thought that myself. When I divorced many moons ago, I got the house (and payments) and my ex got the 2 apartment buildings we owned. For the life of me, I don't remember having to do all this other stuff. But it was a long time ago, so I guess I have just forgotten. The QC deed just takes his name off the deed of the house. It had nothing to do with the Mortgage note, which they BOTH also signed. :gaah:
Even though they weren't married yet, this still applies. ( from article below)

There is only one way to have your spouse's name removed from the mortgage: You will have to apply for a loan to refinance the mortgage, in your name only. After all, the original mortgage was approved in both of your names, giving the lender two sources of repayment. Although you and your spouse may decide between yourselves that your spouse will no longer be responsible for the mortgage, that agreement doesn't affect the lender. In other words, the mortgage lender can still come after your spouse for repayment unless and until you refinance in your own name alone.

Dmacky, is there any way your daughter would consider selling the home, taking all that she has paid out, including the down payment? And perhaps purchasing a different home? IIRC, you have 2 years to purchase a property before having to pay capital gains tax. If Dick contributed in any way, he could be repaid his percentage of what he paid in, minus the down payment and DD' s expenses.

AURGH!!!! That's what I kind of suspected. I haven't ever heard of someone being on the deed, but not on the mortgage.
Dick sounds like some slick *whatever*. By having his name on the house, he could legally take anything he wanted out of it and LE can't charge him with theft. Unless your DD sues him for breach of contract on the house, or files bankruptcy, she's stuck with the re-fi.

I've had 2 MILs. The 1st one told me that he'd quit shooting heroin when he found someone he really loved...after we had been married for 3 years and had a daughter. The 2nd one thought her son (adopted) would have all the perks of my dad's social status and checkbook..........wrong. She also called CPS twice, once accusing my dad of molesting my daughter (oh puleeze, he was gay) and another that her son was abusing our son (and she had had no contact with us for 2 years on that one) and claimed I made him bi-polar and paranoid/schizophrenic (yep, I'm THAT magical). But my mom was just as weird with my first husband and actually had the hots for him. You'd think she was the one who married him. That's the cliff notes version.
Needless to say, the last 2 BF's I've had have had dead parents. Works for me.

Morning, afternoon and evening my dear WS Sidebar friends!

coffeejunkie10. In North Africa, the longest day of the year, Midsummer's Eve, June 24th, is celebrated.

Latvia also has a Midsummer's Eve, June 23rd - June 24th celebration - and a traditional song for this Jani Diena (John's Day) is Ligo. I found this video on YouTube and has English translations for you all to follow along!

Well, another difficult night sleeping, as GF called late last night and starts *****ing at me again... :gaah: a THOUSAND times!!! My Huz says she just feels guilty about the money ($5000) she borrowed from my mother and brother and not paying it back... I'll go with that! :D My bro (the one she borrowed 1/2 the money from) in Latvia sent a email this morning saying he had a very nice conversation with her! Surprised to hear that, since she decides to call me later and starts ranting! But I guess everything is settled as much as it can be! I guess I won't be getting that sweatshirt after all - will have to see when sister and I go down for little bro's memorial! I'll be nice - promise!! :cheerful:

Okay - got to do some stuff around the house, before settling down and watching Roger Federer vs. Seppi play at Halle, Germany - that's tennis for you non-fans! :) And than Huz is downloading the Formula One race from Austria to watch later! Go Kimi!!!! (that's Raikinen),

Oh - we've named our kitties! Since we are Formula One fans, the orange one is called Louie for Louis Hamilton, and the tri-colored one is called Kimi. And still :waiting: for him to now download the pictures of the kitties, as he did take pictures the other day. The camera is sitting here on the coffee table, so I'll bring it him now to download! Hope to get some pictures posted later! fingers crossed!

See you all later! Hope you ALL have a great sunny, nice Father's Day celebration. Posting a picture of me and my Dad picking California oranges back in about 1954!

I know down here many have to buy the other person out, or sell it and divide equally. It may be the same up there. I wonder if it's looked at it as marriage but a partnership?

Am I the only one that thought of the Summers Eve commercial. You know when you want to feel fresh? Do they still make?

I'm guessing Sway is not by the Rolling Stone?

Something is pretty wacky with the weather here in North Central/High Desert Arizona.
We have a 50% chance of rain tonight,
and from this Friday through Tuesday, rain everyday. (ok, weather people are known to make huge mis-predictions here, but total weirdness)

We are NOT supposed to have rain in JUNE!!!!

You know, that just might be a great idea, make DICK responsible for his actions.
He signed the promissory note, he has his name on the deed, let him deal with the consequences too.
JMO...but it chaps my hide when people back out of stuff and leave the other holding the ball.

We found out that new daddy bonded out this morning. He was under a $35,000 bond. So he's out on a $3,500 until he goes to court. He has been charged with injury to a child, and there are other sections and sub section under that. It is considered a first degree felony and can bring a sentence up to 2 to 99 years, and a $10,000 fine. If he can get it down to second degree it's about the same. I keep wondering if there is more that made the first degree the choice, instead of second or third? In thinking back $35,000 seems low for a first degree felony. That's one step under capital murder.

We have no new news about Lily. CPS was to of given Loli-Pop a code to use when they called to check on Lily, but they haven't got back with their attorney yet. Loli-Pop, and little mama are having a home inspection tomorrow by CPS. Hopefully we're one step closer to getting our baby girl home.
