Maybe we should send "it" a blanket or two!!
Didn't understand that one 'till now. Haha, yes for the 108 degree heat!
Maybe we should send "it" a blanket or two!!
I was going to post a photo of my bathroom paint sample stripes that I have been trying to decide on for 5 years but my bathroom has a toilet sitting out in the middle of the room, unconnected, and my husband's pants were hanging on a ladder also sitting in the middle of the room. We had a water leak3 weeks ago and it has been hell ever since. The water leak was under the concrete slab that our house sits on. In Arizona, all houses sit on a slab, Ive never seen a house with a basement here. Anyway, the plumber said we could dig up the concrete and fix it, but it could happen again and again and we should go through the attic and replumb. Doing that, they cut holes through the drywall in the kitchen and bathrooms and brought the new pipes in that way. Things were going well till the plumber's helper fell through the ceiling. I was sitting in the living room and heard a tremendous noise, ran down the hall and discovered legs waving in my guest bedroom ceiling.(the plumber says they nicknamed the guy the plunger) Anyway, I will post a picture of the paint samples when my bathroom looks a little neater. I will try to post a picture of my kitchen during the drywall work. I've never posted a picture on here before, so if you don't see it, I couldn't do it,
Well a lot has happened since Saturday. James, the dude, had agreed to come today and return my money and finish cleaning the gutters. He was a no show at the 8am start time. Of course. I texted him and he texted back stating he would be here tomorrow "guaranteed" as it was raining where he lived. Well it wasn't raining here...
As you all know, I have been trying to fix my kitchen up and I have gone 12 steps backwards. I had decorated the family room around a beautiful oriental rug; opened up the family room to the kitchen; purchased a freestanding kitchen island that I was going to paint; purchased counter height chairs to go with the island.
Well, I put the oriental rug in the living room which is my DH's cave and it goes beautifully. I took chairs from the family room to accent his maritime theme as he is a sailor/boater. OMG it is beautiful. It went from a little kitschy to yacht club chic. He loves it and I am not getting the beautiful "had to have" rug back. So, there is nothing tying the equestrian style family room together now.
I took the island back as the chairs I bought didn't fit and I didn't like the island as much as I thought I did. We put the old island back in its place so back to square one. I have no idea which direction to go in so I just stopped. The stress from James has put my brain in a condition where the processing is horrific. Damn adrenal glands and hypoxia brain. I am unable to process or think clearly and speech/memory is a problem. So I am deciding not to decide. I will figure it out when I get back to my "normal" self, which is no where near as sharp as my "former" self.
I really appreciate all the suggestions and kind words. I just want James to come back and return my money, pick up his pressure washer and just leave. I don't care about the damn gutters. Way too anxiety producing. Never ever again. I will just be plain mean![]()
Not to cause a panic for anyone , but how is your home insurance? As in will it cover injuries on the job?
Zuri, even you were at risk if that man fell doing work for you. He could make a claim against you. The old joke down here is if someone falls off the roof yell out "you're fired" before they hit the ground.
We had out roof redone twenty years ago, and had a family friend as the main contractor, and he went down to the local work force and hired day laborers that gahter each morning. You get here early for the good workers, and he hired four men to start the next morning. He, his wife, my dh and the workers had to tear off the roof down to the joist and put down plywood because it was a asphalt shingles over the original cedar shakes, and it took all of the all day to rip the old off.
We lost one man because he wanted pizza (we had ordered pizza the day before. I was putting out donuts and coffee and lots of ice tea and gatorade and sandwiches) again and everyone else wanted Popeyes Chicken. The men said he was crazy after he sat on top of the garage cussing and swearing at them in Spanish, and he wasn't picked the next morning to come work. The other three men came back and worked their butts off. They raked and picked up old roofing nails out of the shrubs, they worked all day Saturday until after dark, and when they finished up we gave them each a fifty dollar bonus, and they were very grateful men, but it's a hard backbreaking job and they did a wonderful job. I'd love to have workers like that all the time.
Practically all the houses in Texas are built by illegal immigrants hired as day labors.
So sorry many of us are having painful days. You can add me to the list. The last two nights I have bad sciatic pain in my back that goes down to the knee. It only hurts (enormously hurts!) when I lay down, so I have had two sleepless nights. Found some exercises to try out, but I don't know how long it takes to notice improvement. This has to stop. My aches and pains are spreading and making me grumpy. But I am lucky..... it could be something worse.
Coffee, I have heard that dry socket is an awful experience. Glad you got it checked out quickly, before it got unbearable and took longer to heal. Glad the med is OK for you, too! Be well soon.
