Hey!

:gaah: I hate when "something" happens and I lose my post... click on the "more" smilies, and lost my post... Let's see if I can remember it all!

Oh, Niner ..... I laughed so hard about the opossum in your sink that I had to tell hubby why. That is soooo funny ..... but sure glad he got it back outside before there were any problems.

Hope you can finagle those appointments so you both get you fixes..... by next summer you will be dancing up a storm, you two.

YES! Thankfully he got the opossum outside before it decided to wake up in the sink!! :scared:

and Yes, I hope we are dancing up a storm next year, as I plan on traveling (with sisters) to Riga, Latvia next year in September to bury our Mother. My brother lives there and he has her! :luv: Also, I found a very cheap airline (Norwegian Air - about $250/one way) that flies from Oakland to Riga!! I'm hoping the Huz will be in good shape, as he would like to go, since the airline fare is so cheap, and we want to travel around Europe, and especially Switzerland, where his Mom and Step-Dad were born. And we will definitely have to stop in and visit with Susza - if you don't mind our company!! LOL! Keeping fingers crossed that all will work out good!

I'm  at the Craig's listing - very funny and very cleaver, too!

Jasper52 - I'm  at the TV!

Oh - and the neighbor came back and I leaf-blowed everything! My driveway, front porch and back balcony porch are cleannnnn.... :D

Okay - going to sign off for the night! Take care everyone!!

I knew that Tricia was putting this together - a Calendar of the Trials on WS:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/calendar.php?c=1

I don't know "how" that works, if you (us) can add trials or need a Mod to do it - ?? - :waitasec:

But a GREAT idea!! I am definitely bookmarking this one! :D

Zuri = you are SO kind! I was going to suggest we ALL go to Switzerland and trip around!! But than again, I haven't been to too many states in the U.S. But Switzerland is SO beautiful!!

Okay - off to read my :book:

Later! :seeya:

That calendar is great. :)
Thanks for letting us know about it.

[/QUOTE=Jasper52]: Well great, that's settled then! I agree, Gigi would do an awesome job. Now all we need is the Champagne!!!

Not sure how to do the multiple post response, but thanks Susza and Jasper for your confidence in my abilities. Your posts made me laugh! What the hey, I'm just the "Advocate," (whatever that means).

But the funny thing is that writing a screenplay has always been one of my dreams!!! I think if our (not-so) little group took some kind of extended cross-country road trip, it would provide unlimited material for a comedy. I'm thinking "Bridesmaids" but with an older cast.

So here goes:

A gaggle of (mostly) middle-aged women, from all walks of life, from all over the country (+Canada, and Switzerland?), having little in common except for an obsessive interest in a murder trial in which almost none of them have any relationship with the actual participants, take a road trip. Along the way they share obscure household tips, recipes, experiences as parents, etc., as they set a Guinness World Record for number of yard sales and flea markets visited in one month.

On the champagne-fueled bus ride, empty seats start filling up with all sorts of kitschy stuff, taking up more and more space. Initially, humor rules the day as jokes and stories are shared. But as the women begin to share their personal stories, including heart-wrenching admissions about personal tragedies, failures and regrets, emotions start to run high.

Then, in a pivotal role, there's Hatfield, the one GUY crazy enough to join the hens on this improbable journey, giving some sage advice. At the end of the day, we love him even more, and thank him for his comforting words.

Final scene:

Hatfield getting off the bus as we all shower him with hugs and kisses. He smiles and waves as he makes his way to his car and his wife, who's been patiently awaiting his return.

As we all stand around smiling and waving good bye, he throws his luggage and flea market finds into the back seat of his car. His wife asks him how his trip went. He tells her, "Remember on our honeymoon when I told you there'd never be any other women in my life?" His wife smiles nervously and nods. He responds: "Then why the hell didn't you remind me of that before letting me go off with those crazy WS women?!"

New fridge installed and running...didn't know that all the new fridges were "smart fridge's"! So many new setting, all digital of course and when the door is open for any amount of time it dings at you. Now I must relearn how you use a fridge/freezer!

Bubby is home. I had no idea what to expect here...He was put in a beautiful dark green tin container/w gold designs on it. A lovely card was attached and on the bottom of the tin was his full name and date of death. It was in a gift bag. He's not buried yet and I cried again. Have not opened the tin and do not think I can....

:therethere:

:blowkiss:

BBM I didn't bury any of my animals after their cremation and I did not open the boxes. I will have all the boxes buried with me when I go.

A supermoon will appear this Saturday

"... The moon will be fullest at exactly 2:35 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 29 and reach perigee the next day, about 20 hours later, at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 30, according to Space.com...

In fact, September's lunar perigee is special because it's the closest perigee of the entire year. As a result, this perigee gets a special name: proxigee.
And lucky for supermoon gazers, the full moon will fall on that same night of Sept. 28, making September's supermoon the best of the year. We won't see another supermoon like September's until November of 2016."

Australia's Great Barrier Reef is my dream vacation...can we go there? Please, pretty please, with cherries on top?

That used to be one of my dreams, too. But having very long legs, I have (sadly) crossed that off my list. It would take me too long to recover from the flight. Unless, that is, I can somehow come up with the money to go First Class...

Morning all! (except no one here, but me... :( )

Love your story GigiG!! :happydance: Sounds like a wonderful trip!!

And speaking of opossums - we had one in the backyard tree of our home in Mtn. View - and the dog was barking up a storm; so the Huz goes outside to see what's going on. The opossum was on a tree branch, and then all of sudden just fell out of the tree. The dog was running around it and just barking! My Huz thought he was dead after falling out of the tree, so he picks it up and brings it inside and puts it in the sink! He was going to make opossum stew! But than the opossum starts to move a bit!!! I say to him - take it outside - it's NOT dead!! So the Huz quickly grabbed his tail and let it go outside; after awhile he was gone... he definitely was playing opossum!!!

It's going to be a lazy day around here! I was going to borrow our neighbor's leaf blower, but I see they took off early this morning with their boat. Oh well!! guess I'll have to do that later - maybe when I get back from the Song & Dance Festival!

Oh - the Huz has a tentative date for his pacemaker surgery - Oct. 14th. I had my hip operation scheduled for Oct. 7th, so that will have to change! Maybe hip operation in November... but I do have to wait until the Huz is well enough to take care of ME after my surgery!! And Zuri - the doxcyclene is making the Huz throw up and have the hiccups!!! :gaah: so he will have to call his doctor for a less strong antibiotic!! I guess this doxcyclene is pretty powerful, eh??

coffeejunkie

Okay - off to read around WS! :pcguru:

Later folks! :seeya:

Don't even want to know if 'possums are tasty or not, but that reminds me...

My mother used to live on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I was always appalled (yet intrigued -- and vaguely amused) to see signs where churches and other community groups would advertise "Muskrat Dinners." WTH???

So surreal. Always made me feel like I was a bystander on the set of the Beverley Hillbillies!

Scott said upon sentencing that he was "jazzed" to be going to a historic location. Wonder if he feels that way now?? It is a beautiful view, prime real estate, but the other way to look at it is torture for them that they'll never be on the other side of it ever again. When I toured the old, closed Alcatraz prison, which is on an island across from San Francisco (it's a tourist attraction now, a museum that you have to get to by boat)- they pointed out that on New Year's Eve the prisoners were tortured by the sounds of revelers partying in S.F.

I took that tour of Alcatraz as well, many, many years ago (at least 30). Another beautiful site. Point well-taken that it might very well be more of a punishment to be locked away, yet still be aware that (happy) life goes on without you...

Hahaha! Well, of course I would not include "The Queen" amongst the rest of us common folk. And just to be clear, you have a front row seat on the bus right alongside Nore. She being our elder statesperson, and you being, well, "The Queen!"

ETA: Can't tell you how much I appreciate all the fab links you post! Except that sometimes they lead me down a rabbit hole, where I can spend hours, so sometimes I have to say "yes or no" to "Yes or No." :)

BBM I didn't bury any of my animals after their cremation and I did not open the boxes. I will have all the boxes buried with me when I go.

He's still not buried...still sitting in my dining room and still unopened. I sat and hold the tin, talk with him and tell him I'm so sorry I was not there, by his side, helping him cross rainbow bridge. The last couple days have really been hard. I miss him so much!! He loved sitting out on the deck and watch the world go by...silly dog has even slept out there all night :) I don't know how many times I have went to the back door, thinking I have heard him hitting at the door wanting in...and no Bubby there.

Tonight is really hard...coming here at the SB helps. I can laugh at Gigi's great story and all the other great and wonderful post that I read. Thank you all so much for just being you! :loveyou:

DID YOU KNOW

THE MANY USES TEABAGS:

Cleaning:

1. Clean carpets: Clean up musty, dirty carpets by sprinkling dry, used green tea leaves on the carpet. Let them work their magic for about 10 minutes, then vacuum them up.

2. Clean antique rugs: Delicate Persian and Oriental rugs can also benefit from a sprinkling of tea leaves. In this case, sprinkle nearly dry, used whole tea leaves on the rugs, and gently sweep them away.

3. Shine wood floors: The tannins in black tea can help shine and color hardwood flooring. Follow your regular floor cleaning routine by carefully rubbing some brewed tea into the floor (don't use too much water on hardwood flooring) and letting it air dry.

4. Polish furniture: Brewed tea also can help clean and shine wood furniture. Dip a soft cloth in a small amount of tea, and use it to wipe down the tables, chairs and more.

5. Clean mirrors and windows: Tea can remove stubborn, greasy fingerprints from glass, and make it sparkle. Simply rub a damp teabag on the glass or fill a spray bottle with brewed tea.

6. Clean toilet stains: Rumor has it that used tea bags can magically remove stubborn stains in the bottom of the toilet bowl. Just leave them in the toilet for several hours, then flush the toilet and brush the bowl.

7. Get rid of fishy smells: Rinse your hands with tea after eating or preparing fish (or other stinky foods) to eliminate odors.

8. De-stink fridges: Instead of baking soda (or maybe in addition), try used tea bags in the fridge to absorb odors.

9. De-stink cat litter: Likewise, used tea leaves can help deodorize litter boxes when mixed into the litter. Dry, green tealeaves are recommended.

10. Prevent fleas: Tea is also rumored to help prevent fleas, so sprinkle some dry used tealeaves around pet bedding.
Personal:

15. Soothe a sunburn: Wet teabags can soothe sunburns and other minor burns. For a full-body sunburn, soak in a tea bath.

16. Soothe tired eyes: Warm, wet teabags can reduce puffiness and soothe pain around tired eyes - and teabags on your eyes look a little less ridiculous than cucumber slices.

17. Soothe pinkeye: You can also use warm, wet teabags as a compress to soothe the pain of pinkeye.

18. Soothe razor burn: A wet tea bag can also reduce and soothe razor burn.

19. Drain boils: Cover a boil with wet tea bag overnight, and it should drain
painlessly.

20. Soothe blisters: Hot teabags are also rumored to draw out infections when left on fever blisters and canker sores.

21. Dry poison ivy rash Dry a weepy poison ivy rash with strongly brewed tea. Simply dip a cotton ball into the tea, dab it on the affected area, and let it air-dry. Repeat as needed.

22. Save a broken fingernail: To salvage a partially broken fingernail, use a piece of mesh tea bag to create a splint of sorts between the nail and the broken piece. Coat in nail polish.

23. Make soap: Tea is a useful addition when making glycerin soap. The texture and scent can help make the soap smell and cleanse better.

24. Help recover from injections: A wet teabag on an injection site can be soothing, for babies or adults.

25. Soothe bleeding gums: For an older child who loses a tooth, try putting a cold, wet teabag in the mouth where the tooth was lost. It can reduce bleeding and soothe pain.

26. Make mouthwash: Similarly, toothaches and other mouth pain can be soothed with a rinse of antiseptic peppermint tea mixed with a little salt.

27. Shine dry hair: Brewed tea makes a good conditioner for dry hair. Rinse with (unsweetened) tea and leave to dry for a while, then rinse again with water.

28. Dye hair: Brewed tea also is a good natural hair dye. Mix rosemary and sage into dark black tea and let the mixture stand overnight. Strain the mix and thoroughly work it into your hair. Repeat as needed for the desired color.

29. Improve skin: To protect and beautify skin, try bathing in green tea. Another widely recommended skin booster is chamomile tea in a facial steamer.

30. Cure acne: Some acne sufferers swear by washing their faces with green tea to cure or reduce their acne.

31. De-stink feet: Soaking your feet in strong tea for 20 minutes per day may be a relaxing and effective way to reduce foot odor.

32. Heal warts: To help plantar warts on the feet heal faster, press a warm, wet teabag onto the wart for 20 minutes per day.

33. Improve breath: Gargling with strong tea can help reduce halitosis.

34. Get smarter: Caffeinated teas have proven effects on mental alertness, but some traditional Chinese medicine practitioners swear that tea leaves in pillows can also help improve mental alertness. They say after sleeping on tea leaf pillows, people can wake up more clear-headed and quick-thinking.

35. Cure the common cold: The same Chinese traditionalists also swear by tea as a time-tested remedy for many cold symptoms. Of course, others maintain that a cold will last seven days with tea treatment, or one week without.

36. Prevent dizziness: People drink tea for a variety of health reasons, but many older adults do not realize that black tea could reduce their dizziness when standing up. The tea boosts blood pressure, reducing the threat of dizziness. WebMD also lists a litany of other health benefits of black tea, including reduced risk of heart attacks, kidney stones, Parkinson's disease and ovarian cancer.

Kitchen:

37. Tenderize meat: Marinate tough meat in black tea to make it more tender.

38. Smoke it: Add tea to a smoker to make tea-infused cheeses and meats.

39. Boil eggs: The Chinese also like to add tea leaves to the water after boiled eggs are cooked. This adds some flavor and color to the boiled eggs.

Garden:

40. Add to compost: Pouring strong tea into a compost bin will help speed up the process and encourage more friendly bacteria to grow, improving the compost.

41. Fertilize roses: Spread used tea leaves around rosebushes, then add mulch and water. The tannic acid and other nutrients will benefit the plants.

42. Help houseplants: Occasionally use brewed tea instead of water to feed ferns and other houseplants that like rich, acidic soil.

43. Add to potted plants: A few used teabags in the bottom of a planter can help the soil retain water, and adds valuable nutrients.

Other:

44. Dye fabrics: Green and black teas have long been used in dyes for fabric and paper, particularly for generating a beige faux- antique look.

45. Paint with tea: Some artists use strong black tea to paint backgrounds or accents on black-and-white sketches.

46. Strengthen puppy pads: A footbath with strong black tea is rumored to help strengthen the pads of dog feet.

47. Repel mosquitoes: Burning tea leaves is said to repel mosquitoes with none of the side effects of chemical bug sprays.

48. Tell the future: "Reading the tea leaves" is more than a political expression. Telling fortunes in the pattern of tea leaves in an empty teacup is an ancient art that is still occasionally practiced. Here is a guide to reading tealeaves, with a list of common symbols and their meanings.

49. Self-analyze: Finally, leave it to the BBC to provide a handy guide to predicting personalities through a person's used teabag.
