Oh, Niner ..... I laughed so hard about the opossum in your sink that I had to tell hubby why. That is soooo funny ..... but sure glad he got it back outside before there were any problems.

Hope you can finagle those appointments so you both get you fixes..... by next summer you will be dancing up a storm, you two.

YES! Thankfully he got the opossum outside before it decided to wake up in the sink!! :scared:

and Yes, I hope we are dancing up a storm next year, as I plan on traveling (with sisters) to Riga, Latvia next year in September to bury our Mother. My brother lives there and he has her! :luv: Also, I found a very cheap airline (Norwegian Air - about $250/one way) that flies from Oakland to Riga!! I'm hoping the Huz will be in good shape, as he would like to go, since the airline fare is so cheap, and we want to travel around Europe, and especially Switzerland, where his Mom and Step-Dad were born. And we will definitely have to stop in and visit with Susza - if you don't mind our company!! LOL! Keeping fingers crossed that all will work out good!

Not sure how to do the multiple post response, but thanks Susza and Jasper for your confidence in my abilities. Your posts made me laugh! What the hey, I'm just the "Advocate," (whatever that means).

But the funny thing is that writing a screenplay has always been one of my dreams!!! I think if our (not-so) little group took some kind of extended cross-country road trip, it would provide unlimited material for a comedy. I'm thinking "Bridesmaids" but with an older cast.

So here goes:

A gaggle of (mostly) middle-aged women, from all walks of life, from all over the country (+Canada, and Switzerland?), having little in common except for an obsessive interest in a murder trial in which almost none of them have any relationship with the actual participants, take a road trip. Along the way they share obscure household tips, recipes, experiences as parents, etc., as they set a Guinness World Record for number of yard sales and flea markets visited in one month.

On the champagne-fueled bus ride, empty seats start filling up with all sorts of kitschy stuff, taking up more and more space. Initially, humor rules the day as jokes and stories are shared. But as the women begin to share their personal stories, including heart-wrenching admissions about personal tragedies, failures and regrets, emotions start to run high.

Then, in a pivotal role, there's Hatfield, the one GUY crazy enough to join the hens on this improbable journey, giving some sage advice. At the end of the day, we love him even more, and thank him for his comforting words.

Final scene:

Hatfield getting off the bus as we all shower him with hugs and kisses. He smiles and waves as he makes his way to his car and his wife, who's been patiently awaiting his return.

As we all stand around smiling and waving good bye, he throws his luggage and flea market finds into the back seat of his car. His wife asks him how his trip went. He tells her, "Remember on our honeymoon when I told you there'd never be any other women in my life?" His wife smiles nervously and nods. He responds: "Then why the hell didn't you remind me of that before letting me go off with those crazy WS women?!"

New fridge installed and running...didn't know that all the new fridges were "smart fridge's"! So many new setting, all digital of course and when the door is open for any amount of time it dings at you. Now I must relearn how you use a fridge/freezer! :thinking:

Bubby is home. I had no idea what to expect here...He was put in a beautiful dark green tin container/w gold designs on it. A lovely card was attached and on the bottom of the tin was his full name and date of death. It was in a gift bag. He's not buried yet and I cried again. Have not opened the tin and do not think I can....

That used to be one of my dreams, too. But having very long legs, I have (sadly) crossed that off my list. It would take me too long to recover from the flight. Unless, that is, I can somehow come up with the money to go First Class...

And speaking of opossums - we had one in the backyard tree of our home in Mtn. View - and the dog was barking up a storm; so the Huz goes outside to see what's going on. The opossum was on a tree branch, and then all of sudden just fell out of the tree. The dog was running around it and just barking! My Huz thought he was dead after falling out of the tree, so he picks it up and brings it inside and puts it in the sink! He was going to make opossum stew! But than the opossum starts to move a bit!!! I say to him - take it outside - it's NOT dead!! So the Huz quickly grabbed his tail and let it go outside; after awhile he was gone... he definitely was playing opossum!!!

It's going to be a lazy day around here! I was going to borrow our neighbor's leaf blower, but I see they took off early this morning with their boat. Oh well!! :lol: guess I'll have to do that later - maybe when I get back from the Song & Dance Festival!

Oh - the Huz has a tentative date for his pacemaker surgery - Oct. 14th. I had my hip operation scheduled for Oct. 7th, so that will have to change! Maybe hip operation in November... but I do have to wait until the Huz is well enough to take care of ME after my surgery!! And Zuri - the doxcyclene is making the Huz throw up and have the hiccups!!! :gaah: so he will have to call his doctor for a less strong antibiotic!! I guess this doxcyclene is pretty powerful, eh??

My mother used to live on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I was always appalled (yet intrigued -- and vaguely amused) to see signs where churches and other community groups would advertise "Muskrat Dinners." WTH???

Scott said upon sentencing that he was "jazzed" to be going to a historic location. Wonder if he feels that way now?? It is a beautiful view, prime real estate, but the other way to look at it is torture for them that they'll never be on the other side of it ever again. When I toured the old, closed Alcatraz prison, which is on an island across from San Francisco (it's a tourist attraction now, a museum that you have to get to by boat)- they pointed out that on New Year's Eve the prisoners were tortured by the sounds of revelers partying in S.F.

I took that tour of Alcatraz as well, many, many years ago (at least 30). Another beautiful site. Point well-taken that it might very well be more of a punishment to be locked away, yet still be aware that (happy) life goes on without you...

He's still not buried...still sitting in my dining room and still unopened. I sat and hold the tin, talk with him and tell him I'm so sorry I was not there, by his side, helping him cross rainbow bridge. The last couple days have really been hard. I miss him so much!! He loved sitting out on the deck and watch the world go by...silly dog has even slept out there all night I don't know how many times I have went to the back door, thinking I have heard him hitting at the door wanting in...and no Bubby there.

Tonight is really hard...coming here at the SB helps. I can laugh at Gigi's great story and all the other great and wonderful post that I read. Thank you all so much for just being you! :loveyou:

THE MANY USES TEABAGS:

Cleaning:

1. Clean carpets: Clean up musty, dirty carpets by sprinkling dry, used green tea leaves on the carpet. Let them work their magic for about 10 minutes, then vacuum them up.

2. Clean antique rugs: Delicate Persian and Oriental rugs can also benefit from a sprinkling of tea leaves. In this case, sprinkle nearly dry, used whole tea leaves on the rugs, and gently sweep them away.

4. Polish furniture: Brewed tea also can help clean and shine wood furniture. Dip a soft cloth in a small amount of tea, and use it to wipe down the tables, chairs and more.

5. Clean mirrors and windows: Tea can remove stubborn, greasy fingerprints from glass, and make it sparkle. Simply rub a damp teabag on the glass or fill a spray bottle with brewed tea.

Kitchen:
