Coffee, when we had to put my Springer Spaniel to sleep, she was about 45lbs., and my husband didn't want to have to bury her, so we got her cremated- 1st for me too, but the compromise was that we buried her ashes in the back yard overlooking the pool and got a little plastic headstone for her, so I can visit her anytime I want.
When you were discussing why you named him Bubby, I meant to tell you that Bubby/bubbie is Yiddish for grandmother, and that Bubbies pickles are the best in the world, and the next best thing to my mother's pickles. My Bubby in heaven will watch over yours...

I am sure your Bubby has found my Bubby . That was so sweet! Thanks for sharing that, my friend

Also, thanks for the video :) I have always like Kelly, was rooting for her back when she won the First American Idol :)

A concerned highway patrolman saw a car filled with elderly ladies driving down a busy highway at a mere 22 miles per hour. When the patrolman pulled the car over, he was stunned beyond belief to find out why the driver was going so slowly.

Looking for speeding vehicles is not unusual for highway patrol, but when this officer clocked a car going much slower than the posted speed limit, he became quite worried. Good drivers know that driving too slow can be as dangerous as driving too fast, so the officer was determined to remind the motorist of this.

Seeing that the car was filled with five older ladies and aware of their need for safety, he pulled the driver over for a friendly warning.

He pointed out to the elderly lady that he had clocked her at 22 MPH. He explained that driving too slow could cause a situation that would endanger their safety, along with the safety of other motorists.

He also noticed that the other senior ladies seemed quite upset, even though they didn't speak a word.

When the driver explained that she was going precisely the exact posted speed limit, her response bewildered the officer. Again, the officer stated that going too slow is very dangerous.

This time, it was the driver who was baffled. She again restated, "I am not going too slow. I was going precisely the speed limit!"

She then pointed to the road sign. Finally, the patrolman realized the problem. "That's not the speed limit sign!", he exclaimed. "That is the number of the highway! Route 22!"

The little elderly woman was embarrassed for her mistake. She thanked the officer graciously for explaining her error.

Just before he let the motorist leave, he thought to ask about the other ladies in the car who still looked quite stricken. He spoke to the driver saying, "Ma'am. Is everyone okay? These ladies look quite upset, and they haven't said anything. Is there a problem?"

The sweet old driver responded with a sly smile, "Oh, they will be okay. We just got off of Route 119!"

Fortunately, the patrolman stopped them before they got to I-287.

DID YOU KNOW
Lavender Oil

1- Potpourri

Add a few drops of oil to your potpourri, dry or silk flowers (NOT on wood furniture!!)

2- Bath

For aching muscles or stress relief, add 4 drops of oil to your bath. You can also add a handful of Epsom salts.
Sit back, relax and soak away your tensions!!

3- Cuts/ Scrapes

Spray on lightly some Lavender oil on the affected area. It's a great disinfectant that will not "kill" the "good bacteria"
on the skin!!

4- Fatigue

Add 5-8 drops of oil in a hot footbath to soak your feet (which are particularly porous, so it reaches your bloodstream
quickly, soothing various systems of your body!!)

5- Insomnia

A few drops or a light "squirt" on your pillow case for a sweet sleep! (I've personally done this too, by adding a little
pouch of lavender "buds" inside my pillow case...works great!!) For babies, add 3 drops of lavender oil in their bedtime
bath water.

6- Disinfectant

To sterilize household surfaces, add 10 drops of lavender oil to a small squirt bottle (can be found at the Dollar Store).
Spray on surface, wait 30 minutes. Not necessary to wipe off. (NOTE: NOT to be used on wood furniture or wood surfaces to
be safe!) You can use it to disinfect toilets, sink handles, telephone receivers, light switches, etc...

7- Burns

After cooling the burn under cold, running water for approx. 5-10 mins (or more), gently apply oil to affected area.
This should help lessen the pain immediately.

8- Headache

Massage a few drops of lavender oil into your forehead, your temples, nape of neck, and the inside of your wrists.

9- Acne

Apply 1 drop of oil on the affected area (pimple) inhibits the bacteria that causes the infection & helps re balance the
over secretion of sebum.

10- Insect Bites

Applying 1 drop of lavender oil on an insect bite will soothe itching and inflammation. Dab on as soon as possible.

11- Moths

Hang little fabric bags or pouches (can be found at the Dollar Store, if you cannot find a substitute at home) amongst
your woolens in your closet, and refresh with oil from time to time. It's a deterrent, but not a guarantee!

12- Fungus

T.V.'s Dr Oz says that lavender oil (3 drops), when rubbed into the finger or toe nail (several times a day) has anti-fungal properties! (Re-apply after washing your hands or bathing)

NOTE: Store your oil AWAY from heat & light to preserve its properties.

Chocolate Covered Pumpkin Spice Cake Balls

Ingredients
•Duncan Hines Spice Cake Mix (and ingredients to make the cake)
•Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers
•Ghirardelli Black Melting Wafters (optional, for drizzle)
•8 oz. Cream Cheese, softened
•Pumpkin Spice (optional, for tops of cake balls)
•Cake Pan (I used 2 round 9-inch cake pans)
•Parchment Paper
•Cookie Sheet
•Microwave Safe Bowl
•Electric Hand Mixer

Instructions
1.Bake your cake according to the directions. Pro tip: Use a paper towel and rub crisco on the inside of the cake pan. Then cover the crisco is a thin layer of flour. Doing this will ensure the cake will pop right out of the cake pan once it’s baked.
2.Once your cake has been baked and cooled, use 2 forks to “fluff” the cake. Basically you are chopping it into smaller pieces.
3.Put your cake pieces and entire package of softened cream cheese into a large bowl.
4.Use your hand mixer to mix the cake and cream cheese until mixed well. This takes about 2-3 minutes to incorporate all of the cream cheese into the cake. Once mixed, you should be able to mold the mixture together with your hands.
5.Using your hands, form small balls about 1 inch in diameter and place onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
6.Place into the freezer until the cake balls are hardened and firm.
7.Melt the chocolate in the microwave falling the directions on the back. Be careful not to burn.
8.Remove the cake balls from the freezer and use a teaspoon to dip them into the chocolate covering them completely. Return to the cookie sheet.
9.If you want, you can sprinkle the tops with some Homemade Pumpkin Spice.
10.Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
11.Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready for consumption.

I know. It has been quite a long time since I have logged on. Many things going on. Super busy a work, a mind that is racing in every direction imaginable and some life changes soon to take place. I hope you all have been well and had a nice summer.
I felt compelled to come here to share a very important experience with all of you. One that I hope you or your loved ones ever have to experience.
In the recent years mass shootings have been reported once a week compared to once a month a few years ago. The owners of our work place decided to give us training on active shootings in the work place.
The previous week before the training we as a department had some discussions about this event that took place yesterday. We joked a little although it is not a funny subject. Created some scenarios on what to do if this should ever happened. Discussed the fact our building is pretty secure and our department the safest. No one can enter or leave without a security card except our department employees and the owners. All others have to be buzzed in.
The morning started with the company listening to a 911 call of an active shooter event that took place in our state in 2010. Killed at least 6 people and injured others. Let me tell you that tape was very unsettling. The particular caller, although he was shot remained calm, described the shooter and told the dispatcher that he knew of 2 who had been shot and appeared to be deceased. It also was bring your kid to work day and his son was with him. Another 911 call came from a women who locked herself in a dark room and locked the door. The fear and desperation in her voice was terrible. I started to feel like I was going to have an anxiety attack and would have to leave. I forced myself out of that state of mind knowing I needed to listen to every word not only for my self but for my co-workers. You must remain calm or you could be a dead duck if the situation arises.
One very interesting and very important thing I learned was the first responders are not the police. It is you. You must remain calm, be aware of your surroundings try to get out. If you make the 911 call describe everything you see, any sounds, tell them where you are in the building and listen to and follow all instructions. Three things:you fight, you run or you freeze. Freezing being deadly. You go on the offense not the defense. If you decide to try and fight with a weapon, and we were taught anything can become a weapon, you make sure you use it until the shooter is not moving or dead.
It takes 6 minutes or more for the police to arrive and most of the damage is done by then. The shooter has a plan, has a motive in their own mind, may have a specific person in mind and will shoot anyone to get to them. They know they will end up dead themselves either by suicide or law enforcement.
When the police arrive they are not looking to save the victims that are down, they are looking to get that shooter before they tend to the wounded.
After we listened to the calls and watched a reenactment. We had 15 minutes to go back to our departments before we had our own reenactment. Our department, the department who thought was safe died, except for one. We thought we would hear the shots fired and we did have a plan. We never heard the shots.
we only saw that secured door opening. A lessened learned. It took the shooter (who had a paintball gun shooting air) 4 minutes to set up his firearm enter the building and do the damage. 4 minutes.
This was the first of our active shooter training. With each session the scenario will become more intense. It wasn't real but it was frightening none the less.
I think this should be a program presented to all schools, workplaces. It certainly was a topic of conversation over the weekend that we brought to our family and friends and I bring it to you.
Be aware of your surroundings in public places. Look for entrances, exits, fire extinguishers even around the waists of people where they may be caring a firearm. Just be aware.
In the meantime, live your normal lives. It is just a shame it has come down to this.

What a great thing your business is doing. Proactive instead of reactive. I know it caused you anxiety in the moment, but knowing that you are being prepped and prepared will give you peace of mind itself. And yes, schools need to have drills for this, as should hospitals and other public buildings. Crazy 🤬🤬🤬 world we live in now...

I am getting excited, and cleaning like a mad woman. We are going to take a couple days away in the next week..... possibly hit part of New York and/or Pennsylvania. Looking forward to getting away. We are so glad my son is nearby and able to care for our critters .... of course, Mom leaves him plenty of food and treats for his dog. Unfortunately, having only three or four days away just never is enough.
