My dearest dream is to move to a nature place close to a river and build myself a small wooden cabin. And later on, I'd build a second one for friends who'd like to come over. It would be....on the other side of the river ))

After yesterday's magical disappearing posts or triple repeats, I guess I'll try to remember what I had written, lol!
While a the "head doc", they took my regular blood pressure reading, 110 over 80, don't know if that's good or bad for someone who's 104 lbs and 54.....they always say it's "fine".:thinking:

Picked up the treadmill from Williamson Valley last week to get this heal tendon un-numb...........it's working. Little did I know this was happening 1/2 mile as the crow flies from where I was at:

My lil' bro and Evey are both heroes. Yesterday, 1000's of miles away from each other, they both saved dogs on highways. I was talking to my lil' bro yesterday morning as he drove to work in Seattle, saw a dog frantically crossing back and forth the freeway, ended our call, pulled a u-turn and rescued the pup from becoming a sail puppy for the owner who lived just off the highway..........8 other vehicles had blocked the roadway so he could run after it.............YAH, lil' bro!
Evey was coming back from Town on Hwy 89 and a Shepard mix was all buggy trying to find it's way home.......65 mph on that 2 lane highway. She stopped and coaxed it to her, got it safely into the bed of her truck and called Animal Control.......pup was home in time for dinner......YAH, Evey!!!!
My lil' bro told me about the filming going on in Northbend, Washington, his little slice of Paradise, with Showtime's "Twin Peaks" series. He'll be sending me pics. The diner got a makeover as did the building they had originally used as the police department. "Damn good cup of coffee......"

And my brother got me interested in these funky things (Vibram Five Fingers) for the treadmill and beyond.........major 4 wheeling for the outdoors, lol! Waiting for them in the mail:

Woot! had a blowout sale, picked up 3 different types, including a pair that's insulated and good in the snow and ice for less than the price of a single pair........just call me "Sasquatch"! I always preferred barefoot running from the time I was an early teen til about 12 years ago. My lil' bro swears by them.

And that's the re-cap of posts not posted from yesterday..............well, except Don went to the ortho doc, they're going to do an MRI, he may have tore his rotator cup compensating for the bone spur in his shoulder.......they thought they were just going to grind the bone spur down, but the doc saw something on the x-rays during the consult. Guess I should expect to be doing more heavy lifting. :scared:

Bernina, your life is always such a chaotic whirlwind. Sorry you have had a lot of "bummers" mixed in. But those shoes look interesting! Silly toes, but still...... I anxiously await your review. To this day I prefer to be barefoot, yet doc says I need to wear better support than flip-flops. (ya think?) I am all for comfort, no shame here.

9/11/2001

I was on my way to work at a major DC newspaper when I heard about the first plane. My commute meant taking 16th St. There's a point going down a hill after Columbia Heights, where you can see the White House, and beyond that, planes departing and arriving at National Airport. That was the scene in front of me as I first heard the news.

By the time I got to work, the second plane had struck. Everyone at the paper, (including the publisher & editor and many big-name journalists) flowed into the newsroom to watch events unfold in a big room almost designed for such disasters, with a wall of multiple tv screens showing things in real-time. Everyone was transfixed, jaws dropped.

Soon thereafter, right in front of our eyes, was the third plane striking the Pentagon. Just a mile or two away from us. At that point, most everyone in DC started a mass exodus. I called my children to make sure they were okay, but stayed on the job. In the meantime, gridlock ensued, and apparently tempers flared as panicked workers tried to flee, creating even more chaos. The only direction traffic could go was north, towards Maryland. Virginians were screwed. They would have to drive through the mess that was DC, into Maryland, then take the Beltway around and back down to Virginia. It took some people 8 hours or more.

Still watching the same bank of television screens, we witnessed the horrible aftermath in NY as people threw themselves out of windows, and fire fighters and other (more unlikely) heroes risked their lives to save as many people as they could. All those images which are indelibly etched in our collective minds.

My boss at the time was driving north into DC on I-95 from Virginia, and was right about at the Pentagon when he saw the plane go from his right side to his left, then straight into the Pentagon. He was (and still is) traumatized by what he saw. But like everyone else, there was nothing he could do. He was stuck on the highway, watching and not really knowing what was going on. Since all bridges from Virginia into DC were immediately shut down, eventually -- hours later -- he was finally able to turn around and go home.

My BF worked in Arlington, VA at the time, just 1/4 mile from the Pentagon, and said that when the plane (and the three fighter jets chasing it) came in -- so fast and low -- he and everyone around instinctively hit the ground and covered their heads. They heard the explosions moments later.

Since I was one of the few who stayed at work that day, when I finally left I was spooked by the eerie silence in this normally vibrant city. There was no one on the streets. Virtually no people. All businesses were closed. No cars. Just military humvees strategically perched on sidewalks at certain intersections.

As I made my way back up the hill on 16th St., and passed the point where I first heard about the attacks, I started to sob. Perhaps it was out of some sense of relief? After all, I was safe. I was in my car. I was going home, where I knew my kids were waiting for me, and I knew they were safe. But no, it was more than that. Those images, those images, mmm, I don't think I'll ever be able to erase those mental images...

I just wanted to stop in and let you all know I have been thinking of you. To those whose memories of 9/11 still bring heartbreak, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I hope everyone with medical issues are hopefully getting better soon. I think of you and send healing prayers up.

I am embroiled in one huge mess at my house. I opened my son's room that has been closed for over 2 years as it brought back such a painful time. I have found more stuff in there, just what I need. I have washed all his clothes and boxed them up to send to Florida. It feels good to be taking my life back. It is going to take months to get my house where it should have been years ago, but at least I am finding the beautiful things I have collected over the years. I have an extensive collection of equine artwork and it has brought such joy to clean the frames and admire them all over again.

After all of CJ's tips, I have used vinegar, cream of tarter, deodorant, etc on everything. My DH is ready to have me committed. I am tackling my father's belongings along with everything else that have been sitting in boxes for the past 5 years. Sadness and joy is a strange mixture.

My daughter came home for 4 days from Chicago to pack up some of her belongings for colder weather and her visit was such a delight. She was like a different person, so I am hopeful she is on the right path and figuring her life out. She was so positive and fun to be around. Miracles do happen! Xoxo

:hug: ZURI, you have had a lot to deal with lately. I am so sorry the wounds keep festering and bringing you sadness that must be a part of your daily life in some ways. It is good to be able to start sorting out things from your son, but I imagine it brings a lot of tears, too. When I get into a huge funk of several days/weeks, and can't get over it, I have often found sorting out and tossing things to be a wonderful therapy. I see my accomplishments and feel tired (for a reason, finally) and it goes a long way toward making me feel better.

BBM: What? :giggle: Isn't he happy with a clean house? Well, if he does, reserve me a bed right next to yours.

I am glad you fond your old artwork to bring you some peace and joy, and the visit with your daughter was priceless. Hope it lasts a long, long time

9-11 I was home with Court TV on and saw the news. Friends of mine were in the air headed for Seattle and were coming back. I called their family in Seattle, waking them up telling them to turn on the news.

Seems many of us were watching Court TV, as was I. My daughter called to tell me to turn on the news.... and I sat in shock, glued to the TV for the rest of the day. It was one of the few times the news had actually made me cry. The quietness "in the air" was unsettling, not peaceful, for me.

Please know sweet Susza that I meant no harm. I love that you are from another Country, as it is fascinating to me that people from all around the world would know about this trial. (not going to say her name)
If I hurt your feelings, I am very, very sorry. It truly was not my intention. I actually thought it was sweet, although funny to me. I just have that kind of personality, I guess. Now I wished I would have just left it alone. But since I didn't, yes goosebumps.

I think Susza has a fine sense of humor to be sticking around here. You were fine, Dmacky. When the bus stops, Susza might make us wait across the river for her, but we will save her seat until she comes across. :giggle:

When all air travel ceased after 9/11, there was this peaceful quiet, even out here where it IS peacefully quiet, it was even more so.
It's really hard to explain. But it was different. The animals and birds were quiet, like they knew something had shifted the balance of the world, humanity, evil.
At night, all you saw was stars....just stars. No light from planes thousands of feet above going across the sky. I'd lie out there on the hay bales and think, "This is what it must have been like when settlers moved West."
I'd come in and CNN would be on, and the emergency rooms would still be waiting for survivors.
And they'd wait.
And we'd hope.
And no ambulances came.

I hate hate hate shoes. I've gone barefoot all my life and have worn shoes only under protest. I have five pairs of shoes in the car and three of them are houseshoes. On our trip we don't have to wear shoes. Or bras.

Yes, it was eerily quiet, just as described, but it wasn't peaceful to me but more of a being scared feeling. No planes, birds, kids playing outside as they were in school, etc., but sensing anything could happen from that moment on. How many other planes were involved and where would they hit?

Driving in the rain...
Good vision in a downpour, this may save your life!!
How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour: we are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily. This method was told by a police officer who had experienced and confirmed it. It is useful... even driving at night.
Most motorists turn on HIGH or FAST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour - yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad...
The next time you face such a situation, just put on your SUN GLASSES (any model will do). Miracle! Suddenly your visibility is clear, as if there is no rain.
Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car, as you are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but you also might save your friends' lives by giving them this idea...
Try it yourself and share it with your friends! Amazing - you still see the rain drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.
You can see where the rain bounces off the road. The glasses seem to work by eliminating the "blindness" from the spray from passing semi trailers, too! It also works on the "kickup" you get when you follow a truck or car in the rain.
This tip ought to be taught in driver's training! It really does work.
This warning is a good one! I wonder how many people know about this:
A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and totaled her car. A resident of Kilgore , Texas she was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was lightly raining when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and then literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but was very stunned at the sudden occurrence!
When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON!! She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.. But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.
The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor - NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.
The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.
NOTE: Some new vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE)

There will be no new trial for OJ Simpson, currently serving 9 to 33 years in prison for a botched hotel room heist.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A lawyer for O.J. Simpson said Friday they'll decide their next step after the Nevada Supreme Court rejected the imprisoned former football star's latest appeal of his 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery conviction.

Attorney Patricia Palm said she needed to talk with Simpson at Lovelock Correctional Center about the Thursday ruling by a three-member panel of the state high court, and whether he wants to appeal to federal court.

Is this yours or a rental? I just had to repeat the photos, looks like a slice of heaven. That foundation in the cabin is so wonderful, the look I wish our home had. Beautiful, beautiful, and so peaceful looking.

Well, I was thinking about building a hanging bridge especially for your arrival. When I was living in Bariloche/Patagonia, I accompanied my neighbour - an architect specialized in building hanging bridges - to the huge property of Silvester Stallone where he had to do some reparation work on the bridges he had built there. I thought about asking this buddy to help me BUT... as several of you "gets the creeps" (???) by the sole idea of crossing a bridge I decided to adopt the Tarzan-method: you'll swing over the bridge and get a yummie yummie brunch.
We would then kayak down the river until we arrive at my handsome neighbour's ranch... he is famous for (not only) his delicious apple pie with vanilla sauce but he also has a select wine cellar. He will generously allow us to take his horses so that we could have a peaceful horse ride back home and enjoy an endless thai dinner.
For those of you who prefer a more contemplative way of travelling, special kayak and horse trolleys/caddies are being built so that you can just sit down and enjoy the paradise landscape passing by...
