Flash flood watch scaled back for Phoenix

http://www.kpho.com/story/30071334/flash-flood-watch-scaled-back-for-phoenix

Meteorologists have scaled back a flash flood watch for Phoenix and surrounding areas.
It's now in effect until 8 p.m. It had earlier been active until Tuesday afternoon.
The watch includes Phoenix, northwest and southwest Maricopa County, northwest and north central Pinal County, southern Gila County and the west central deserts.

Just take everything with a grain of salt, as far as Phoenix weathermen. Rarely do they get it right!
Sedona looks pretty good right now, don't see anything coming down from the clouds! (Yes, I can see some of the Red Rocks from here!)
Your brother should be fine, he just needs to keep an eye out if he's staying in the canyon and it starts to rain. The run off will be crazy because of the fire last year.

LMAO!!!!!
No Mormon tattoo.......that's a huge no no, defiling the Temple of God(your body) like ear piercing, and a coffee mug? Caffeine, my dear, no Mormon drinks coffee, lol!. It's just a saying I picked up on the road WAY back..

Yes, I have tattoos, the first one actually represents the "break from all things bad". A side view butterfly, crescent moon, and star combo on the back of my shoulder, "my freedom/putting the past "behind" me" that I got when I was 16. It's pretty faded and the lines have "bled", not crisp like when I was a young viper snapper. Have a 8" prayer feather on my upper *outside* thigh I designed myself, with some text on it. That one actually helped a young tattoo artist get some hands on experience. He did a pretty good job and we were both happy with the results.
And I have the pierced ears (3 holes) and the pierced nostril<-----way before it was something you saw just about everywhere.
All of them mean something to me, important life events, situations, people, etc. My visible scars pretty much have the same value, people, places, etc.
And so do the wrinkles!!!!!!! :floorlaugh:

What's really kind of strange is that I never did weird/unusual stuff with my hair. Just wasn't into that kind of stuff. No mohawks, no neon pink or blue streaks, shaved sides etc. Didn't want attention.

I am the black sheep, certifiable heathen of my family. And it's totally cool with me!:happydance:Between myself and lil' bro, we're the only "normal" ones in the bunch...................seriously.

Lol, I'm the black sheep of my family. Lots of rebellion on my part. No tattoos, and I didn't get my ears pierced until I was forty-five and did it because I was having my three year old great neice done, and she asked why I didn't. I told dh that there better be diamonds on my birthday. Hmmmm Mormons and tattoos........Tanisha , Travis's sister has many of them,

Anna went through her rebellion and dyed her hair pink the day before finals and hid under a hoodie to take her exams. She also got a hugh Chiense dragon tattoo all across her back. I told her would a little butterfly on her butt would of been a good start. She had the nose thing and tounge, and her nipples, which is just not something I'd want to pierce.

Yeah,I think my brother , me and my oldest sister are the most sane , and my other sister we're really not sure about her.

Worrying about the Pope's visit tomorrow and how it will impact traffic. Since gov't is telling its people not to go into work, and since he's not going to be in my direct vicinity (the White House is about 4 blocks away, but his itinerary calls for him going east, away from my location), I'm cautiously optimistic. On the other hand, whenever they start closing roads, that traffic has to go somewhere...

I have a lot of work to do and have deadlines to meet, so I'm definitely going in. Anyone want to place a wager on how long it will take me? My current route (I've tried many) is about 7 miles, which takes roughly 40-50 minutes...

Suspects charged in border agent's slaying to face trial

8846644_G.jpg

Two suspects in the 2010 killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent whose death exposed a botched federal gun sting will be the first to go on trial in the case this week.

Jury selection and opening arguments are set for Tuesday and Wednesday in the case of two men charged in the killing of Brian Terry during the Fast and Furious operation in which federal agents allowed criminals to buy guns with the intention of tracking them. Instead, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives lost track of 1,400 of the 2,000 guns involved in the sting operation, including two weapons found at the scene of Terry's killing.

This case gets me pretty angry. Bryan Hulsey got the death penalty for killing Glendale policeman Anthony Holly. During a traffic stop for tags/plates, whatever. #281129 got life. M. DeValt got life.

This "rip crew" has been getting plea bargains of 30 years for copping to 1st degree murder. They were part of a criminal group, they were in the process of committing a felony, were in Arizona/US illegally, were carrying fire arms illegally, and murdered a law enforcement agent.
If that doesn't SCREAM "special circumstances" I don't know what does.
This is what the Federal Justice system is doing, NOT the State of Arizona.

There is something sooooo wrong with this when the Feds cut these guys a break because of internal hand shakes with the Mexican government. It has nothing to do with immigration, NOTHING, it's all about playing nice with Mexico and "Fast and Furious", the gun running debacle that started on Bush's watch in Texas.

This will happen again. US prisons are far better than Mexican prisons, these felons can do time here standing on their heads, it's a cake walk. There is no incentive for any of the criminal element on the Border NOT to commit these type of crimes. And rip crews don't care whether they kill the border crossers or anyone else who gets in their way, because they are rarely caught or prosecuted. They are heartless.
I wish Arizona would step in and take them to trial.

Hur mår du, Niner? Lol!

Hey, I'm doing fine! :D

I enjoy reading other peep's family histories. It makes the past come alive, not the watered down textbook versions from school.

Niner, I spoke/understood Swedish first, then English at 3 years old when my dad's mom got all "American" in his face, "your family sailed across the ocean to live in Zion", etc, etc. Had a refresher when I was 12 but it didn't stick, just retained enough to get in trouble!
The few times I went to Scandinavia, I REALLY loved it. Denmark, eh, Copenhagen's walking streets were cool, but it didn't have the draw Sweden did.
You think you're a gal without a country, what the "H" "E" double toothpicks is a Swede doing in Arizona?!?!?! My folks performed a really insane geographic move on that front (from Utah), and since I'm pretty much a spitting image of my fair skinned, red headed grandma, it just doesn't work when you spend most of the summer close to a pool or under the sun!:gaah:
I got "da skin cancer", my siblings didn't, but they're all the typical "Swedish Ski Model" types, blonde hair, golden skin. My dad got it too, he had blonde hair but his beard grew out red.

My first language was Swedish too; our nanny was Swedish; also a mix of Latvian; than when we came over here, I was 5 years old, and was going to start kindergarten, so English is my 3rd language, too! No blondes in our family - some of us tried! But since we are of Latvian decent, we came out with brown hair; actually, mine is on the Auburn side. Hey - Auburn - I live here! LOL! Sorry - long day....

Thanks for the update! Now I hear he is supposed to meet up with my sister and her husband (the ones who live in Sweden) in Las Vegas. They were going to drive to San Diego and than come up the coast to Monterey for a BBQ at a friend's house, so I don't know what's going on now!

Heard on the news that Bella Bond was placed in the refrigerator for several days before she was dumped in a trash aND discarded on the beach. Too many little angels getting their wings way to early.

Oh - I was following that poor baby's case! :gaah: Saw the news at the hotel we were staying at; at least she has been identified!

Okay - getting off for the night!

Take care everyone and Zuri

I thought about that, but no it isn't my mother's stuff pawned unfortunately, that would've been good, but I'll never get it back. This is new stuff that replaces the jewelry that was mine, or resembles stuff of hers.

1974 - Walter Brennan Died. He reminds me so much of Uncle Lee. He was a carpenter and made two rocking chairs, and the seats were made of horse hides. I'd get up when he and grandma Cora did about four in the morning, and she'd make biscuits and syrup from scratch. He'd pour his coffee in his saucer to cool. I'd follow the poor man just about anywhere. Want to talk about a almost too close coincidence. In 1969 I went to Magnolia Arkansas with a friend ,and her parents lived way back in the wood because her stepfather was a fire ranger, and one evening an neighbor, (an old man in his eighties), down the street stopped by and I told him I was from OK, and he said he worked on the railroad with a man and said Uncle Lee's name. I think my mouth dropped open. Wewoka Ok was known as Wewoka Switch because it was a depot and switching station back in the 1900's. Grandma Cora had a boarding house, and that is how Uncle Lee became her third husband.

1996 - The audience at the Grand Ole Opry witness a historic moment when 23-year-old Hank Williams III, son of Hank Williams Jr. and grandson of country music legend Hank Williams makes his Opry debut. Hank III wears a black western shirt trimmed with green fringe that belonged to his grandfather. His set includes "Moanin' the Blues," a 1950 chart-topper for Hank Sr., and "Lovesick Blues," the same song his granddad performed for his Opry debut in June 1949.

A sad man. He was much worse at the Dallas concert. He brought a fifth of whiskey on the stage with him, and after several good gulps they were having a hard time getting the bottle away from him. He was quite abusive, and foul mouthed. We had our young teen kids with us, and that was it, we were outta there.
Do you remember when cussing was a shock to hear? My father wouldn't let us date boys that cussed or smoked, and I'd heard that you didn't date the Field City boys (very rough part of Dallas in the 60's) because they were trouble. My ears perked up, and I thought those boys needed looking into.

1978 - Do you remember the 21st night of September? The first line of Earth, Wind & Fire's song wasn't written for any particular reason - it just sounded good.
