Yeah, if that's all, you're still doing pretty well. But I imagine that you're going through some sort of "cabin fever." Hang in there!

BTW, why does autocorrect always choose the words you totally DIDN'T mean to use. Uncanny...

Actually no cabin fever here. When you are weaning off Prednisone, especially from such a high dose, it messes with your head and body big time. I am experiencing a lot of pain, very emotionally labile, confusion, loss of speech and memory at varying intervals. It is just better to stay put and go through the withdrawal. It feels like an out of body experience sometimes. This too shall pass as I have gone through this before. I just wish my hair would stop falling out and the weight would start to come off!

I just come here and feel better! You all are great entertainment and I love reading the stories posted. You all have made this Recovery process so much easier as it takes months. I am so glad we have each other!

CJ, I can always count on you to make me smile with your cute graphics and fun posts. Thank you for starting our days this way. Hope your back pain is better and you have seen your doctor. Ahem.

I can totally feel what you are going through,...been through it myself a few times and it does feel like you posted! And yes, went back doctor about my back and nothing shows up on the test. Just muscle strain and it still hurts at times...getting old I guess lol

"A Colorado woman who shoved an 88-year-old man she worked for as a housekeeper down a flight of stairs, tore skin off his arms and stole his car has been sentenced to 208 years in prison, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Jana Janette Bergman was found guilty last month of attempted manslaughter, assault, robbery, theft and other charges in the attack on Jack Woods, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

Texas halts execution of man convicted of killing three children in fire

"...The Texas Attorney General's office appealed, trying to win a ruling that would allow the execution of Raphael Holiday to proceed. It had been planned for 6 p.m. at the state's death chamber in Huntsville.

"The main factors for the decision were some additional issues under the law that had not been addressed previously," Madison County district Judge Hal Ridley told Reuters by telephone.

One of those items was testimony allowed in previous trials that may not be admissible under current standards, he said..."

Texas Man Executed for Setting Fire That Killed 3 Children

"A Texas inmate was executed Wednesday for setting a fire that killed his 18-month-old daughter and her two young half-sisters at an East Texas home 15 years ago.

Raphael Holiday, 36, became the 13th convicted killer put to death this year in Texas, which carries out capital punishment more than any other state. It has accounted for half of all executions in the U.S. so far this year.

Asked by a warden if he had a final statement, Holiday thanked his "supporters and loved ones."

"I love y'all," he said. "I want you to know I'm always going to be with you."

He thanked the warden. As the lethal dose of pentobarbital began, he took two deep breaths and appeared to yawn, his mouth remaining open as he wheezed several times. Then all movement stopped.

Nineteen minutes later, at 8:30 p.m. CST, he was pronounced dead.

Holiday never addressed or looked at witnesses, including the children's grandfather and mother, his former common-law wife. The mother initially stood at the back of the death chamber witness area, watching from behind a corrections officer. About 10 minutes later, with Holiday motionless on the death chamber gurney, she walked toward a window to see him..."

No alcohol allowed for death row inmate in Georgia

"An inmate facing execution in Georgia will not be allowed to have a six-pack of beer for his final meal, state prison officials said on Wednesday.

Death row inmate Marcus Ray Johnson's request was denied because alcohol is considered a contraband item, the Georgia Department of Corrections said in a statement.
Instead, he will be offered a standard institutional tray of baked fish, cheese grits, dry mixed beans, cole slaw, cornbread, cookies and fruit punch ahead of his execution set for Thursday night, officials said...

His attorneys are fighting his lethal injection, which is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday."

The Grandma Scam That Is Sweeping The Country

"The voice on the other end of the phone couldn't have been more enthusiastic. "Hi grandma!" said a late teen-early 20-ish voice.

It definitely wasn't one of my grandsons, the oldest of whom is seven.

"I'm sorry," I said politely. "But I think you have the wrong number." I was about to hang up when he quickly interjected, "I knew you wouldn't recognize my voice. I'm sick. In fact that's why I'm calling." He coughs for effect.

And in a flash I knew: grandma scam! While it would have been tempting to just hang up, this suddenly seemed a lot more interesting than paying the property tax bill online which I'd been doing at the time..."

Why Comcast Will Cap Your Data (Not to Improve Your Service)

"The many customers already unhappy with their Internet service through Comcast have another reason to be upset about the company’s policies. Colin Lecher reports for The Verge that Comcast has been quietly rolling out caps to customers’ monthly data usage, along with overage charges that customers can pay to get out of them.

The company is now expanding the list of locations where the usage caps have gone into effect, and customers in parts of Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana will be subject to a 300GB monthly cap as of December 1. Data caps aren’t new for Comcast, but are rare at other major cable companies..."

THE BOOMER SHIFT
A 97-year-old’s message to the boomer generation

"... what do the parents of the boomers think? The people who raised them and watched this generation become the wealthiest in history. Here is a message from one parent, 97-year-old Russ Brown. Mr. Brown was born in 1918 in Woodstock, Ont. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and returned to Canada to complete a degree in business from McGill University. He went on to a long career with Bell Canada and raised three children. Casting his thoughts back to the first year of the baby boom, Mr. Brown says it was a time of incredible change...

History will salute the baby boomers and I am proud to be a parent." :)

Leaf “Litter” :autumn::autumn::autumn:

"There is no waste in the natural world. Every part of every living and nonliving thing recycles into molecules that serve a purpose in ecosystems. Leaves are no exception.

We’ve learned to think of leaf litter as a problem to be hidden in our landscapes. In places where there is a distinctive Fall, with deciduous trees losing their leaves en masse, we scrape them off our lawns and out of our gardens, bag them, and send them to waste management. Leaf-litter plays many important ecological roles. Below we highlight some of the ways leaves are secretly at work in your gardens and parks..."

Why We Drive on the Right (or Wrong) Side of the Road

"Driving on the right side of the road is the right way unless you’re in a country like the U.K., Australia, or Japan, right? If you’ve ever had to rent a car in London with a manual transmission, changing gears with your left hand is scary and can feel unnatural — unless you’re a lefty. Yet if you ask the Brits, we’re the crazy ones. So how did the world end up divided into left-side and right-side drivers? You may be surprised to find out that we, the right-side drivers, are wrong. Here’s a timeline of how it all got started..."

This does seem like just yesterday. Everyone within 100 miles of DC was panicked. Buying gas, you could almost feel a bullseye on your back. A lot of gas stations put up tents of sorts, so that when you were pumping gas, you weren't a sitting duck.

One shooting was in NW DC, not far from where I live. Another took place at a school -- not anywhere near me -- but I had school-age children at the time. I made the decision to keep my kids out of school while the shootings were going on. And guess what? The gym Muhammad and Malvo used almost daily was just across the highway from where my son went to school (close enough for a high power rifle). No regrets!
