They Were Found Dead In Steel Drums 30 Years Ago. Who Are They?

"Here are four individuals, who disappeared from whatever family nucleus they were in, and we haven't come to an understanding of who they are."

"Thirty years ago this week, when the brutalized body of an unidentified woman and young girl were found inside a steel drum in New Hampshire, authorities were left with a mystery: Who were these two individuals and what led to the circumstances of their deaths? That mystery was compounded 15 years later, when another steel drum was found -- not far from the original crime scene -- that contained the skeletal remains of two young girls. DNA revealed at least three of the victims are related, but beyond that, few clues have emerged in the last three decades..."

The Surprisingly Simple Clues Left Behind At Crime Scenes

"...Every experienced murder cop and forensic tech follows Locard's Exchange Principle. Who, you ask? Edmond Locard was the 19th-century pioneer of modern forensics -- the real Sherlock Holmes -- who held the belief that the perpetrator of a crime will bring something into the scene, will leave with something from it, and that both can be used as forensic evidence...."

West Virginia Ruling Could Clarify the Rights of Criminal Defendants

"The West Virginia Supreme Court said Tuesday that a man could withdraw a guilty plea he made in 2002 for a robbery and rape because prosecutors had withheld DNA testing results suggesting that he was probably innocent...

According to the firmly established Brady rule — enunciated in the 1963 Supreme Court case Brady v. Maryland — prosecutors must turn over potentially exculpatory information to defendants at criminal trials.

But whether they must also do so during the process of plea bargaining, before a defendant formally admits guilt and is sentenced, has been disputed. Several state and federal courts have suggested that the same principle should apply to such proceedings, some have disagreed, and the Supreme Court has not given a definitive answer..."

Man convicted in Jewish site killings is sentenced to death

"...A jury convicted Frazier Glenn Miller Jr. in August of one count of capital murder, three counts of attempted murder, and assault and weapons charges. The same jury recommended that Miller be sentenced to death.

On Tuesday, Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan followed that recommendation and ordered the death penalty.

Miller is an avowed anti-Semite who admitted that he shot the three in April 2014 because he wanted to kill Jews before he died. He has chronic emphysema and has said he doesn't think he has long to live. All of his victims were Christians..."

Update on Sheriff Joe's woes:

Arpaio's posseman pleads the Fifth in contempt hearing

"A posse member and unofficial investigator for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio had little to say Tuesday afternoon when he took the stand for the first time in the lawman’s civil-contempt hearings.

Mike Zullo was sworn in at 4:45 p.m., and used the remaining 15 minutes of the hearing to invoke the Fifth Amendment to at least 35 of the plaintiffs’ attorneys' questions.
Previous testimony points to Zullo as Arpaio’s key contact in a controversial investigation involving Seattle-based confidential informant Dennis Montgomery..."

Federal appeals court reverses ruling that found California death penalty unconstitutional

"LOS ANGELES (AP) — California's death penalty survived a legal challenge Thursday when a federal appeals court reversed a lower court ruling that had found it was unconstitutional because of excessive delays.

Without discussing the merits of a murderer's claims, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the lower court was barred from considering a novel constitutional theory that found delays in carrying out executions amounted to cruel and unusual punishment.

U.S. District Judge Cormac Carney, an appointee of President George W. Bush, ruled last year that California's death penalty was an empty promise with unpredictable delays that led to arbitrary and rare executions that violated the Constitution's Eighth Amendment..."

Judge under fire for asking rape victim why she did not keep her knees together

"...at least one judge in Canada has victimized one Canadian woman all over again for filing a sexual assault complaint. The National Post reports Nov. 10 on a case now being appealed in Calgary on the basis of remarks from the judge to the victim along the lines of, “Why didn’t you just keep your knees together?”

And the outcome of the victim’s assailant criminal trial? Well it is being appealed, so you can imagine what the outcome was. He got away, with a strong caution by the judge to be more gentle with women in the future, and to also let his male friends know that they had to be as well..."

With more human spacecraft in development in the United States today than at any other time in history, future astronauts will launch once again from the Space Coast of Florida on American-made commercial spacecraft, and carry out deep-space exploration missions that will advance a future human mission to Mars.

A Polish Baby Lost in the Holocaust

"Barbara Helena Bawarska’s true story, as told to OZY writer Libby Coleman....

When I was two, maybe three days old, my parents sent me away to Kowaniec, in the south of Poland, to keep me alive. I’m now 72, and two weeks ago, I went back to see where I had lived during World War II. The house was abandoned. It had been practically destroyed in a fire in 1989, but still, being there brought back many emotions. I recognized the orphanage where I and the other 100 to 200 children had stayed....

They say never forget. We must never have another genocide. For me, the most important thing is that we continue to talk about what happened in Warsaw, what happened in World War II. It is important that we continue to talk about the Holocaust — and that we continue to talk about what happened to children like me. "

Judge Demetrios Kottaras...
"It has been argued that the Ware children look fine," the Cook County judge said. "We do not have to wait for the injuries."...

Under a legal concept called "anticipatory neglect," a court is not required to wait until a child is harmed before intervening if someone has harmed or endangered a child in the past, Boyer said, adding that such findings aren't unusual in child welfare cases...."

Youth is not a time of life- it is a state of mind

It is not a matter of rosy cheeks and supple knees: it is an attitude, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions,

Youth means a predominance of courage over timidity, a preference for adventure over love of ease,

Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul,

Whether seventy or sixteen there can be in every beings heart a sense of wonder,

Sweet amazement at the stars, the challenge of new events, child like curiosity, and the joy of living,

You are as young as your faith and as old as your doubt,as young as your self confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope and as old as your despair,

So long as your heart is warmed by the messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage , and meaning in life, you will remain young.

Youth can be yours forever'

Find Out What Your Finger Length Reveals About Your Personality

Your birth date, feet, hand lines and even fingertips may reveal insights to your personality. Everyone has slightly different fingers, but in general you can break it down into 3 main types of finger lengths.

The fingers on either side of your left middle finger, your index and ring finger, are the same size or slightly different with one longer than the other. Take a look at your own fingers in comparison with the image to identify which looks most like your own, A, B, or C.
http://www.earthporm.com/your-finger-length/

I am C:
C. The Peaceful, Easy To Love Type

If your ring and index finger are the same size your motto is “make love, not war.” You prefer to avoid conflict and make peace wherever you go, as you strive to get along with everyone. Overall, you are faithful and caring and make an excellent partner. Although, you do have a fiery side that may arise if someone gets on your bad side… so enemies beware!

I am A:

A. The Charming, Realistic Type

If your ring finger is longer than your index finger you are a charmer, and often seen as irresistible to others. You are excellent at talking your way out of trouble, and you are great at problem solving. You have aggressive tendencies, but you are full of compassion.

I don't know if I'm charming or irresistible , but I may have had aggressive tendencies when I worked on Wall St many years ago.

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

I used to have a doll house! I can't find the pictures on my computer; will try and find some of the "real" pictures and see if I can post them. I also had lighting in my doll house and my mother made me curtains for it. Sold it awhile back.... but had fun putting it together!

The Huz made his own spice rack! I'm just learning "how to" use the spices he has - remember I'm a novice in this cooking stuff!

Okay - off to watch football!!

Here are the reviews, so far, from Lawrence's new book:

I may have to change my views on this case. I once believed her

:hilarious:

ETA 2: Changed my mind- I'm going to order the book today because I want to read it just so I can figure out why GB changed his mind about the murderer's innocence.

Seems that the murderer cannot read JM's book for a while unless it comes out in paperback, but she can read Lawrence's book now if someone sends it to her:

Speaking of spices, how long do you keep your spices for? Exactly what is their shelf life (no pun intended)? My BFF told me that the spices I had that were 28 years old were no longer good and to throw them away...:D

hahaha!

Yeah, I think after 28 years they should be tossed. Most ground herbs/spices are good for a couple years, some whole spices are good for up to four years. Best way to know is to use your eyes and nose. If they've lost their color and/or don't have their typical aromatic qualities, toss 'em.

ETA: Two interesting things that never go bad (and go well together!): honey and pure vanilla extract...

And now yet another book about the Florida murderer:

'America's most-hated woman': Casey Anthony drove around for FIVE days with two-year-old daughter Caylee's body in the trunk before disposing it, new book claims

"...Dominic Casey's new book, Privilege Waived – Part II, Caylee Marie Anthony, makes a number of shocking claims about Casey Anthony...

Dominic Casey was hired by the Anthony family five months after the little girl's death on June 16, 2008 to find her remains.

'On the afternoon of Monday, June 16, 2008, 'Casey Anthony murdered Caylee in the family's backyard, above ground pool,' writes the author.

At 2.51pm on June 16, Casey conducted a google search for 'fool proof suffocation' and then visited a pro-suicide website on the computer at her parent's house.

'Venturing into the pro suicide-pit', a website, offered advice on foolproof ways to die.

She followed that search up with suffocation by placing a plastic bag over your head.

Another google search was: Heated Wires can melt disposable breathing circuits.

And then she checked in on her Facebook page.

Between 3:39:59 pm and 4:10:41 pm, there was no cellular activity on Casey's cell phone.

'Casey had changed Caylee into her bathing suit. She walked her into the backyard and hooked the ladder onto the pool platform. Casey guided Caylee up the ladder to the pool then maliciously drowned her'.

'She then carried her lifeless body in her arms from the pool, through the side gate to the garage and into the trunk of the car' – where she remained for five days..." :(

Niner ! just learned how to copy part of a post! I had to congratulate you on still aving windows 7...I cant wait to change mine..
Best health to both. :seeya:

YesorNo I am B
If your ring finger is shorter than your index finger you are the confident type and know how to get stuff done. You prefer to work in isolation, as you don’t like to be distracted when trying to achieve your goals. Just because you prefer to work alone doesn’t mean you are an introvert. You are highly driven and appreciative what you have, but you tend to always want more.
---------
Now I don't want more really! Just a car and Windows 7 !

1969 - The first album featuring Karen and Richard Carpenter was released by A&M Records. Offering would not be a big seller, but a single from the disc, a remake of The Beatles’ Ticket to Ride, would gain national attention. Their next album, however, would establish them as major international stars (Close to You).
