They do have swamp coolers IIRC. Heatstroke isn't good publicity...though all publicity is good for him.

I think Sheriff Joe is just preparing her for the heat of the afterlife.

I take it you do not approve of Sheriff Joe. Is this just your own opinion or do you have proof that he makes his inmates suffer from heatstroke?

If they suffer from heatsroke, wouldn't that be "poor conditions" and "inhumane".

Not that Jodi doesn't deserve it, but can jails do that?

Yes, he likes publicity, but baking his inmates would not be the kind he needs! It does not surprise me that some media report "no air conditioning," undoubtedly referring to central air. More sensationalism...

I worked in a very large prison in inland Ca....very hot. There was no air conditioning. They had large fans...sitting at each end of a long tier. The fans were not pointing at the cells. They cooled the hallway. It was very hot. Staff had to pass them ice water, koolaid, on the very hot days...x2 a day.

The inmates are monitored more if they take meds because certain psych meds can raise the body temp. However, there is no place cool to put them. They all adjust to the heat...as CMja will.
