We should hope not strawberry!
I was fifteen, so old enough to experience it but not old enough to have gotten myself into any trouble.
As a country boy I wasn't part of the revolutionary scene, was never going to have the opportunity to continue on with a tertiary education and was bursting at the seams to do my part in Vietnam. Joined the army in 1974 ...... and they all came home!
Oh well, at least I'd been educated by the best .....Maxwell Smart and The Man From Uncle.

In 1974 I was 13 yrs old. Still more afraid of going to war than trying to understand it. I was just to young. I did work with a guy who enlisted in the US Marines in 1975 when he was 17. He thought that the war was over. Not quite. He got sent to Vietnam, Da Nang. While on patrol outside of the base, he stepped on a mine. Lost part of his right foot. He got sent to a hospital ship offshore and was still on board when his buddy's did the evacuation of the embassy in Saigon. I watched "Get Smart" when I was a kid so I've always gotten your screen name. I wonder if it was shown in Canada also? LG did you watch "Get Smart" as a kid?

Considering the demographic and member profiles here at WS, there are probably not too many motor racing fans here but ..... I started watching the Indy Car race earlier, nodded off after a few laps and have awoken to the sad, shocking news that Brit driver Dan Wheldon was killed in a crash during the race.
Sympathies to Dan's family and friends. He was one of the best and a real favorite down here.
Life really is gone in the blink of an eye isn't it.

I just read an article about this sad event. Prayers to all people who loved Dan Wheldon in his life, family, fans and colleagues.

Environment breeds mindset. Without wishing to cause any political debate, some staged sit-ins and some wanted to go and get it over with. BOTH the right course of action in their own way in the minds of those involved I guess.

My screen name? Believe it or not, I chose it more as a compliment to the tireless gals here than as something about myself ... I'm not as smart as Maxwell :innocent:

I'm sure that all the wonderful lady's that we communicate with here will appreciate your accolades.

It was ITV, not BBC, you are correct. Off topic, what is a "tv license?"

over here you have to pay a yearly fee to watch television at all (this is aside from cable or more commonly here, satellite) http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/

apparently it pays for the bbc :floorlaugh: since we dont actually watch tv, (if we like a series we buy the box sets) we dont currently own a tv right now (keep meaning to buy one for dvd's but end up using the laptops anyways) but when I had one, the tv licence people would come by and be like "that's fine but we have equipment that can tell if you're using the tv for tv and we can tell it from 100 metres away" and I said that's fine, you could come for tea every tuesday to check up and you'll never find us watching it :floorlaugh: but if they do check they've never made themselves known to me! I assume they check but as we dont even own a television at this time, they cant possibly catch me at any shenanigans :D

A TV licence is a yearly fee paid by British viewers in order to receive all of the BBC's TV and radio programs. By paying that fee all programs are kept free of commercials, and maintain independence from political and shareholder interests.

you are correct, with the added note that you dont get any choice at all - if you're hooked up to watch tv at all, you must pay the licence. there is no choice. unless you dont watch anything at all, like me.

So thats 145.50 pounds a year for the privilege of watching the bbc? If it was over the air TV, how could those smucks tell if your receiving it? Ya,I'd have them over for some tea alright.

hahaha that's about my opinion. I think it's silly. it made sense once upon a time when the only thing on tv WAS the BBC, as there were/are no commercials. now, it's just a tax gouge IMO...the BBC still has no commercials but of course everything else does.

it gets a bit siller- you are allowed to watch shows online without a licence.. IF they're not showing at the same time as tv is showing the show. I dont know how that works out for re-runs :floorlaugh:

I trying not to picture brown-suited British public servants hiding in the back of a Mini with fish n chips and peering into peoples houses with a pair of binoculars.
And, sorry 2g but I HAVE to ask - :waitasec: if you don't have a tv, what's your furniture pointed at? :innocent:

So.....he tried to hug Barbara and was pushed away. :floorlaugh: She said No don't do it! He looked humiliated and sucked in his lower lip. :floorlaugh:

TMZ sources reveal Casey is not ready to 'tell her tale' just yet. Quite a 'tale' it will be I'm sure

FCA will get her interview and it will be with Barbara. (IMO)

The dirty little secret about paying a large amount of money for a picture was exposed when Paris Hilton got out of jail. Barbara was in the mix and she lied. She said they NEVER pay for interviews while they were involved in negotiations over how how much they were willing to pay Paris. Paris' mother was upset because she considered Walters a friend and thought the bid was too low (one million). The publicity got so bad Paris ended up on Larry King for free.

After seeing it with my own eyes (Barbara and JB) it's a done deal. Barbara is morally bankrupt and has been for quite some time. I would not believe a word out of her mouth. The only question now is how much they're willing to pay.

The only reason Walters told JB not to hug her was because she didn't want that type of picture splashed all over the news the next day.

There is a strong possibility that BW will get the interview with KC. The actual amount paid will, of course, be speculated on, ranging from zero to one million plus. We will never know the actual amount.

The interview itself, even if KC is hooked up to a lie detector, will not give us any answers to what happened. KC could tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth and the lie detector could confirm it, and we still would not know what actually happened, because, KC lies, and she believes her lies, and her whole truth is most likely lies.

I kind of hope she does get paid enough to pay off the IRS, the state of Florida, TES and ZFG. If she doesn't get paid for her story, in some way, shape or form, the reality will be that her debtors will never be paid in full.

As always, my entire post is my opinion only.

I agree. If Casey never has a source of significant income, the state's judgment against her will never get paid. We do not have debtor's prisons anymore so if she has no money to pay, nothing would ever be done about it. The IRS is another story but even the IRS will not put a delinquent taxpayer in prison unless they know the person has the money but is simply refusing to pay.

I do not care how much anyone pays Casey for her interview, and after that first interview no one will care a bit about where Casey goes and what she does. I just wish it would happen already and be done, and the money be paid so that any and all judgments against Casey can be paid and the IRS can get their due. Then she and Baez can just disappear into oblivion once they realize the media is not going to be interested forever. Actually, other than TMZ and some televised gossip programs, I doubt there is much interest even now.

I agree with one exception. FCA is well aware of her lies. She does not believe them. She prides herself on being a good liar. As for the polygraph, she may be able to pass one because she doesn't have a conscience. Her body probably does not react at all when she lies.

As for the interview, Caylee probably won't be mentioned. It will be all about FCA. How was jail? How did YOU feel during the trial? How did you feel when photographers followed YOU? How did YOU feel knowing you may get the death penalty. There are plenty of questions to ask that have nothing to do with the crime.

There is no way a lawyer would allow her to talk about the case. The excuse will be she can't talk about the actual crime due to ongoing legal issues. She wouldn't want to talk about Caylee anyway because it takes away from HER. Everything is about her in her mind.. She will cry on cue if they bring up Caylee's name. There are many techniques to help someone cry on cue:

LKB was at the dinner too. She will hurl insults toward the prosecution and put her own spin on the evidence.

FCA will end up being the victim after the interview. She will be ecstatic because she'll get professional hair, makeup, perfect lighting, and expensive clothes. She will look better than ever. I feel sick saying this but she'll have people asking for her autograph and a picture taken with her too.

IMO

Casey knows her lies are lies. She might, however, think that what's over and done with is over and done with, and doesn't matter anymore. She might think people are making a fuss over nothing and that since she has been acquitted everyone should just move on, because it has always been about her and only her. She might think that since she has lied all her life and it has always just blown over without fanfare, it should have this time as well. She might think people should make more of an effort to understand her because she's really not a bad person.

She cannot understand why her excuses did not work with everyone the way they always worked with her family...and still do, apparently. She knows her lies are lies, but she does not comprehend how devastating her lies have been.

Unless BW gets KC to spill the beans the money is for nothing. BW could donate that money to charity and get a better story than what she will get from KC. Asking her about jail is a huge waste because all there would be to tell is already out there in discovery, her Cookie letters, the jailhouse tape, etc.

Unless KC were to admit, yes I killed Caylee in a rage because my mother and I had a fight, my mom choked me and I just reacted to Caylee in the same way but did not mean to kill her. I doubt a story about anything else would not be worth much to the public. KC could basically blame her mother, that it was her mom's fault for choking her. KC would again be telling her mother she is back in control and the blame for Caylee's death would be put squarely on her mother which is where KC wants it to be.

Again, we know this is not what happened, but then again what is another lie to KC. jmo
