(I) noticed that there was some children that came out the back door, and I thought, ‘please don’t come down and play soccer.’ But they came out and looked at some plants that were in the raised bed.

I hope LE talked to those children to see if they saw Kyron leaving the building.

In the updated story it says:

"It would have been there on the way in, as he got out of the truck to unlock the padlock on the chain that allows him access to the field. It would have been on that road on his way out as he went behind the truck to put the chain back in place."

So this answers the question about whether it would be possible to remove the chain that allows access to the path. Sounds like it was unlocked while the groundskeeper was there, but locked back on when he left at 8:45.

(Also, the article refers to him as "a turf technician with the city of Portland", which to me means that he wasn't a groundskeeper employed by the school, but someone who goes around and takes care of the "turf" at a number of different city-owned properties.)

Starting to see why it was possible that he wasn't talked to before now. If he is NOT a school employee that is there everyday then he may not have been on the list of people to interview. It may have been the media and pictures of the field and reference to that road that brought him forward, since prior to this he really would have had no reason to call and tell them nothing basically (being that he saw nothing).

BBM

This tells me children WERE walking around unsupervised.

Oh sweet Lord have mercy...

I pray to God that LE talked to this man before today.

There is also the possibility of the witness seeing another person in a white truck.. might have actually just seen the landscaper in HIS truck. Which would mean nobody else was actually in Terri's truck.... boy my head is spinnin'

“It seemed like just a pretty normal day,” he said. “It was kind of damp and wet. It had been wet for a while and the fields were hard to mow. (I) noticed that there was some children that came out the back door, and I thought, ‘please don’t come down and play soccer.’ But they came out and looked at some plants that were in the raised bed.”
above from article & stated by groundskeeper
I had no idea any kids went outside during this science fair. So, I wonder if they were chaperoned when they came out?
I am glad to hear from this man. Just a bit more information we didn't have.

For goodness sake! Did this guy get interviewed before today??!!!

:smacks head:

And there you have the MAIN feelings behind my 1st post on this thread. Doesn't it make you wonder that the employee that was outside the school during critical times on June 4th wasn't interviewed about vehicles (white trucks) previously? Plus, the fact that this witness is a landscaper...ugh. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But it's funny that so many involved in this case seem to be into landscaping. I wonder - do they all know each other?

Oh my God I hope it wasn't common practice for the children to go out unsupervised. Now I really need to know if they had an adult with them.

I feel nauseous.

So he parked his truck twice.

The padlock-did that key have to come from the school office or maintenance dept?

This man seems to have a better handle on what was going on that day than anyone I have heard from so far...:(

Stuff in Oregon likes to GROW and it likes to GROW a LOT. There are a lot of landscapers and groundskeepers on the western side of the Cascades. A LOT!!! I used to work for a landscape contractor. LOL!

A lot of cities use a master key/lock system so it's one key that unlocks all the locks in the town. I would guess it came from city maintenance.

what if the truck was on that road after he left at 0845?

nothing is simple in this case is it?

Truck in the video is a white Ford F250 Diesel standard cab.

So it's just a guess, but I am thinking it was his truck that witness or witnesses say they saw...

Yes, I can see your point, that green things grow like crazy in Portland, and perfectly wonderful people work for landscapers. :blowkiss:

Yeah, but his truck was connected to a trailer that was pulling a giant riding mower on it...

So really, if there was a witness who actually saw someone else, a second person near the Horman truck, then maintenance man story makes perfect since. He is in the field 0745 thru 0830.
Mystery Person # 2 has keys to truck, and after TH arrives at school and her & Kyron go into the school, person # 2 gets in and drives around, maybe went for coffee....until, waiting for a call perhaps from TH as to when to pull up to the designated meeting spot, the access road, and pick up Kyron. Which would be 0845 up to 0900, per TH email, she left @ 0900.

The maintenance man does drive a white truck, however it is clearly marked City of Portland with the well known Rose Medallion decals on the side that city vehicles sometimes sport. Also, had huge mesh screen on back window, tool box, and kind of beat up looking, with cones, other equipment in back bed. Has distinctive government license plate, colored yellow/orange, which other oregon cars do not use. And, not a double cab truck.

Ah, I have regained my balance.

Almost fell off the fence, earlier today.

Been here a long time. I'm hungry.
