SM as a potential focus of the investigation

I suppose a child could disappear after deceased, but that is a curious use of the word alive, isn't it?
Yep and I've been sitting here trying to figure out what LE could have found that would lead them to believe he is dead - yet without finding his body.

**warning - graphic***
Other than finding a whole, whole lot of blood and they've proven its his. I can't come up with anything else. Yes, he's been gone a long time - but that doesn't mean he's deceased. Jacyee went years and was still alive. So, what could it be?

Isn't associated contents a site where anyone can write an article? I have even know posters from message boards who write articles.

Is this a reputable news site where the articles are done by real journalists?

IMO

I understand what you are saying and I agree. According to the site it was the spokesperson for the public schools who said it. That should be easy enough to check out. In fact, I'll try and do it right now.

We have to be careful. Sometimes media sources outside the main stream media uncover amazing facts and other times they make up amazing facts.

What we try and do at Websleuths is try not to let the posting turn into a lynch mob. That's why we are so careful when we start with a new case in discussing possible subjects.

Remember Richard Ricci. Everyone was certain he kidnapped Elizabeth Smart. Even the police. The main stream media was lead around by their nose by the police in Salt Lake. The just wrote what the police said.

Because of this rush to find the kidnapper Ricci died in prison. It was a direct result of the harsh interrogation tactics they used trying to get him to tell them where Elizabeth was. His brain exploded from high blood pressure brought on by stress.

If it is true that we now have reputable witnesses who say the step mom and Kyron leave the school then the whole situation changes but until we find out for certain this is what the spokesperson said let's just be very careful OK?

She is not teaching now, correct? There may be a reason that goes beyond staying home with her daughter..or there may not be.
She should definitely have some idea of what is appropriate developmentally. A 7 year old teasing a toddler is not that unusual. Obviously there are better ways to handle it than she chose (and that she chose to post it as a Facebook status speaks volumes, IMO). It points to her having a strange tone deafness with regard to children and perhaps an exaggerated sense of threat to her own daughter.

I think I read somewhere that she only taught for 1 year (I could be wrong). Can anyone confirm that? That is an awfully long time to go to school to only teach 1 year. I would love to know the reason she stopped teaching. I am sure if any kids were ever mistreated by her in the classroom the parents would have been the first ones to approach LE.

I really did not want to believe the SM could be involved. A part of me is still hoping that she was not; and, Kyron will be found safely. Sadly, it does not look like that will be the outcome.

I also read somewhere (sorry, I have read so much that I can't remember where to provide a link) that SM and BM were best friends. Does anyone know if that is true? Perhaps they were friends while Kyron's parents were still married??

Also, has anyone ever figured out if SM was the only one at the bus stop or if both SM and BD were there?

It is so frustrating not having any information from LE. I hope they know what they are doing and that their silence will not come back to bite them in the tail. Perhaps they have known from day 1 that SM was involved. That would explain the comments that there was no abduction and it was an isolated case.

If SM was involved, she has destroyed many lives including that of her precious little girl. How sad for the baby too.

Either way, until LE can confirm SM's involvement and / or Kyron is found, I will be praying for a miracle. I'll never be able to look at another Red Eye Tree Frog again w/out thinking of Kyron and his proud little smile. Come home Kyron! :praying:

If this is true it changes everything. Without question.

From the article:

If this article is correct then the spokesperson for the public schools is reporting this. Isn't this new info? I haven't heard this yet until now.

Hi Tricia! That's a rumor that's been making the rounds of the net. It's based on a statement in a credible news story wherein the principal of the school Mr. Shelby said the last school staff to see them was two teachers. It did not say, or insinuate, that they had left the building together.

I can pull you the link and the quote if you'd like.

ETA:

""There was a science fair here at the school," Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby told CNN. "You had a situation with lots of parents and friends coming through the school, going class to class." "Kyron was here with his stepmother, seen with his stepmother," Shelby said. [29] The roof was also searched. Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby said two teachers saw Kyron with his stepmother and thought the two left school together

True! But I used to joke, "a month for the GOOD effects, a day or two for the Bad to set in.." Weight gain and sleepiness almost immediately for me!

One family of anti-anxiety meds does have an immediate effect against the symptoms of anxiety: benzodiazapines (includes Valium and Xanax):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine#Anxiety

"Benzodiazepines are sometimes used in the treatment of acute anxiety as they bring about rapid and marked or moderate relief of symptoms in most individuals[28]; however, they are not recommended beyond 2–4 weeks of use due to risks of tolerance and dependence and a lack of long-term effectiveness."

That sounds like it would cover a situation such as the sudden disappearance of a family member.

I have known from the very beginning that if my child was missing I would be searching for him myself 24/7. There is no way in h*** that I would be at a gym or anywhere else on this planet, I don't care what LE advised me to do. I would simply be searching and doing whatever was possible to find my child. Doing anything else is simply beyond my imagination.

Naw, not new, its been out since Kyron went missing pretty much

I suppose a child could disappear after deceased, but that is a curious use of the word alive, isn't it?

Exactly.

That isn't a word I would use when describing a (two-week) missing person, unless I had some info to support it.

Otherwise, just say "Terri is the last known person to have seen Kyron before he disappeared."

Forgive me, please, if I am late...but has there been a discussion on how extremely odd that science fair pic looks?

I do photography on the side and I just cant get over how weird it looks, where the heck is his other arm...?!

About this..wouldn't they have shown her picture along with Kyron's when they first interviewed the students, parents and staff at the school? I found it odd that they didn't show her picture along with his at the very beginning to trigger the memories of people who were at the school that day, in the event, that someone saw either Kyron or SM or both of them together. I thought if she had been on camera on the TV news or newspapers in a plea for help early on this could have helped, too,

*Respectfully Snipped* BBM

Perhaps this is part of the reason the family waited so long to speak?? Perhaps SM convinced them it would be best to keep quiet and keep the search on Kyron while also trying to avoid bringing attention to herself?

This was a small community right? I would think that a lot of parents already new the SM if she volunteered a lot at the school. Either way, I would expect that LE probably had photos of both SM and Kyron while conducting their interviews.

Mr. Shelby is the spokesperson for Portland Public Schools and made that statement.

Mr. Keefer is the principal of Skyline and made that little slip about a "criminal investigation" very early on.

Seems since that little "faux paux" of Mr. Keefer - we have only heard from Mr. Shelby.

Maybe the profilers strongly feel that he is based on all the known variables, but as you wrote, Jaycee was an exception to all the algorithms.

I was wondering that, too, early on. But someone pointed out that his t-shirt was so large that it could hide his arm if he had his arm close to his side. Still looks weird to me, though.

I'd say he's holding his arm behind his back and grasping his other arm with his hand. My son used to do that.

It's old info. That came out early on.

Really? See. Can't keep up.

There are reports that several teachers saw Kyron leave the school with his step mother. Help Find My Child reports that "Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby said two teachers saw Kyron with his mother and thought the two left school together."

He said the teacher said she/he thought they left the school together. "Thought" being the key word here.

I had not heard this before and think it is totally new. There might have been rumors but not a statement like that by the Sheriff. Before it was he was seen by the South door. And then Tanner's witnessing of him.

My Bolding

What would be the motive for SM?
Would this have been a plan all along?
Strange case...are they still searching the island area?

Exactly.

I guess Gates believes Kyron was alive the last time Terri saw him.

I agree. However, I have to say, the stepmother is not the only parent here. What about the bio dad, the bio mom, and the stepfather?

Every time someone posts about how strange Kyron's arm looks, I go back and look at the pic. I am not seeing it. Kids that age make all sorts of weird poses. I think it is nothing more than Kyron putting his hand behind his back. Because the shirt sleeves are so big, it makes it appear that his arm is back further than it actually is because the sleeve obscures part of his arm that is not behind his back and moreso because of the angle of the photo. I don't think it is odd at all.

Case in point...a friend of mine had a photo of her daughter wearing a pleated dress. Because of he way she was holding her hands in relation to the folds of the dress, it made her her arm look like it was amputated. I know for certain that that was not the case, but the way the photo was taken definitely provided that illusion.
