Tongo: Some of the things are only coming back now. I told the truth. Even now, I'm changed.

I'm deeply disappointed with SA barristers, going by what I've seen these last few months.

================================

Even if JT understood the difference, I've convinced myself that it wouldn't help at all. I absolutely believe SD is 100% gay but saying he's bisexual is PERFECT defense.

There's no proof that he didn't sleep with Ani and/or that, while perhaps he sometimes couldn't or wouldn't -- he might in the future. He could see the German Master one week and sleep with her the next. JT might think it's weird, disgusting, immoral, etc/ Also, she could assume that maybe SD was having "performance anxiety" because of the pressures of his new married life, etc.

Being bisexual would say to JT that at some point he might or would have slept with Anni because he swings either way. If JT understood that he can go either way, there'd be no motive, would there?

What am I missing, here?

#DewaniTrial Tongo admits that he did a "terrible thing". Some things are only coming back to me now.

VZ: Did you know what Mr. Dewani wanted done, meaning how she had to be killed, where, when?

Tongo: The time I was going to Monde, I wasn't aware yet how this was going to take place.

Tongo says the plea agreement was entered into and written down in a bad period in his life, he had done a terrible thing #DewaniTrial

Tongo: All I knew is that the accused person wanted a business partner killed. I didn't know how. If my memory serves me correct, we finalised that on Saturday.

It seems a bit odd that some payment for Qwabe and Mngeni was put into the car. Dewani's need to control was slipping there as they could have decided to kill him too, eliminating him as a witness, before taking off with the money, jewellery etc. They didn't know Tongo and may not have cared what payment he was getting, or when.

=====================

That thought may have crossed SD mind as things were unfolding in the car, that's part of why he was sweating so profusely and someone had to turn the air conditioner on in their car (policeman?) for him.

VZ: And this payment of R15000 was suggested by the accused?

Tongo: Correct

Reeling with his testimony really - Did Tongo stop and think at all about what he was arranging? Doesn't seem like it.

VZ: The question is, why didn't you get into your vehicle, drive away from the Cape Grace and forget about this?

#DewaniTrial VZ:why didn't you get in your car, leave the hotel and forget about this? Tongo: because of the promises (of work). RE

Tongo: Because of the promises that were made.

VZ: So why didn't you put that in your statement?

Tongo: As I said, some of the things are coming back. When I spoke to the police, a lot was going on.

Tongo: Now, I've settled down and I'm calm.

VZ: Now, you went to Monde. What happened at the hotel. What did you tell him?

Tongo's explanation for new evidence: "Now I've settled down and I'm calm, some of the things are really appearing" #DewaniTrial

Tongo: I got to the hotel after I'd already called to find out if he is at work. I joked with staff. Monde appeared.

Tongo: He said I should wait. We went outside, we spoke, I explained to him that I picked up a client at the airport.

Yes, I have no difficulty accepting that he didn't realise it was Anni. For a start, he wasn't expecting it to be her because he'd been told otherwise. She may have looked very different when she wasn't dressed up. I have to confess that I have a very poor memory for faces, and frequently don't recognise people I don't know well.

==================

Also, it's not like they were his only customers, were they? He must see all sorts of people coming and going. They're like a blur. You see them but you don't really look. After years and year of driving he couldn't easily recall one dark haired woman from another - maybe there are more South Asians ( indians) that go down to SA than just SD and Anni. Also, was all or some of these encounters in the dark? If so, that's a factor. If daylight for one of them, do we know that she was't wearing sunglasses?

Tongo: I explained to Monde what is being said. I asked him if there are any people in the community that he knows of?

Tongo: He said to me that he knows people & would get in touch with them. He did likewise.

VZ: Did he say people?
