Tongo's voice gets a bit deeper, more pronounced, as he becomes noticeably more frustrated with cross-examination

(sorry Z if you've got this covered, but this reporter giving idea of Tongo's demeanor)

VZ:which means he agrees to kill for R15000?

Tongo: correct.

VZ: but he still needs to speak to another person, but agrees R15000

VZ: On page 909 of the record, in which Tongo says he took the man's number from Monde and called him later.

VZ: You were asked if that's the only conversation you had with Spra. You said, correct, My Lady.

Tongo: I said, that is what I can remember, My Lady.

VZ: What we've done, is go through all the documentation, telephone records, CCTV footage & put it in a timeline. That's the timeline you're looking at, at the moment.

Van Zyl runs through the timeline of calls to Qwabe etc

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 35s35 seconds ago

At 19:30 Monde calls Qwabe and then Qwabe calls you for 2 sec at 19:38, Tongo attempts to call Qwabe back, but Qwabe calls back

VZ: I thought he wanted a hitman - in the singular.

Tongo: Whether he wanted one man or 100 men. He hired me to get killers

VZ: What trouble did you go to, to get Monde's services?

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 49s49 seconds ago

Tongo: Firstly, the trouble that I made, I phoned Monde with MY phone, I went to Monde with MY petrol.

Tongo: I sacrificed MY life for this to happen. There are many troubles I went through

I think those two tweets together create a better picture -- less like OP whining and more like --- Let me tell ya

Here's my problem if we remove Dewani from the equation, why would the hijackers release him? I'll answer with what the Defence recently said to the media, it was a kidnapping for ransom gone wrong.
But then I question shooting Anni dead doesn't stop a kidnapping imo, there are many cases where the person kidnapped is murdered and the ransom demands still were made.

I looked at those tweets and realized that tweet space is small so we ''lose''' the gist of the entire reply.

I believe that Tongo did '''network''' like crazy through Monde......he set up the deal but I don't get the impression that he really wanted anything more do do with this other than hand it off to others.

One major ''flaw'' for me is the matter of getting his taxi back.......that's a headscratcher.....certainly his vehicle represents a sizeable investment

good point........kidnapping, blackmail all pretty oily -- and a slippery slope

maybe that's why he left as soon as possible.............afraid of a shakedown for $$

How did SD get back to the hotel? He was dumped on the road right?

Yes, shooting Anni in the taxi must have been a mistake, but would Tongo have gotten his vehicle back even if Anni was shot outside? Aren't the vehicles used in a crime kept by LE indefinitely? Tongo could claim on insurance?

Maybe, Anni and Dewani were supposed to be transferred to the other vehicle, or just Anni. I wonder if it was a stolen vehicle? This just looks so amateurish and dumb.

If Dewani is guilty of hiring these men, he's going to get away with it, imo.

that's it!!!!I bet the reason she was left in the car .... was again because the $$ was short and it was not in the spot it was supposed to be.....jmho and they ''thought'' T stiffed them and of course it would have been SD

this would have created animosity for sure

What I've read, Dewani was dumped on the road side and it took about 10 minutes to raise the alarm. No one answered their doors he claims. If I remember correctly, he came upon a man who describes Dewani as looking like he just stepped out of a classy restaurant, no visible signs of being ruffled, no sand or dirt, perfectly clean. So Dewani must have just hopped out of the vehicle not thrown out the window? Or, maybe he dusted himself off pretty well? lol
