MM: I don't want to lie. I don't know what time. I would say it was at night.

VZ: At 8pm, Qwabe calls Tongo for 5 secs, then Qwabe phones back for 31 seconds. What were these calls about? (How would Mondo know? )

MM: I don't know but I know nothing else was discussed, other than the job had to be done that night.

VZ: As far as I understand Tongo's evidence is that he was never at a table with the couple.

MM: I am still maintaining that the reason why we couldn't contact him was because he was sitting in the restaurant.

Qwabe made a 5 sec call to Tongo. That's hardly enough time to say, 'Hello, it's me'. Then he called again. I wonder if it was just the phone's reception cut the first call off?

MM: Abongile (Qwabe) is saying they had to meet at a time mentioned. that's the 1st time I'm hearing of it. I didn't know they were supposed to meet before

Later Tongo called you back and said he couldn't take the call because he was sitting with the couple. That was your evidence, now I don't understand you saying that you heard it for the 1st time in this court.

MM: I misunderstood. I didn't listen well.

MM: Zola said the reason he couldn't take Abongile's call was that he was sitting with the couple in a restaurant .

Could it be possible that Tongo actually used the opportunity as a chance to impress his friends - to make them think he was sitting in a swanky restaurant, rather than having to wait outside? It seems a little sick but I wouldn't put it past him. He seemed very concerned about his 'image'.

personally I think the word would have been ''at'' the restaurant as opposed to ''in'' mooo

that's a sharp contrast from what we heard from Tongo --- gun guys couldn't meet up due to ''wet'' area = police presence IIIRC

I think you're onto something there Z. Tongo and SD were rather pally before, during and after the 'incident', Tongo probably wanted to impress his mates he was in with the couple.
I wonder if Tongo has changed tact after finding out SD is gay. He was in big denial during his time on the stand that they never 'held hands' which I think means, shake hands. Just good ol' homophobia? JMO

I'm sort of hoping that Tongo didn't answer that call that's being discussed because he was having second thoughts. But I don't suppose that can be true as otherwise he'd have told the court that, as it might make him look better. Poor Anni.
