Sessions Now Recalls Meeting With Trump Aide Papadopoulos

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told lawmakers Tuesday he now recalls the meeting with former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos, but maintained that he did not lie when he said he was unaware of communications between campaign officials and Russians during the presidential election.

"I do now recall the March 2016 meeting at Trump Hotel that Mr. Papadopoulos attended, but I have no clear recollection of the details of what he said during that meeting," Sessions said in testimony to the House Judiciary Committee, which conducts oversight of the Department of Justice...

Anyone who is currently meeting with Mueller and his staff should take a play from the Attorney General. It is best to always start a sentence or end a sentence about meetings with Russians, about Russians or any actions you took with Russian surrogates with the phrase "to the best of my recollection" which will cover you from a perjury charge. The lack of remembering from the chaotic campaign stems from how the campaign was designed--the left often didn't know what the right hand was doing.

There are two ways to interpret the testimony of Attorney General Jeff Sessions as he faced yet another round of questioning over his role in the Russian interference scandal. The first is that he is a skillful liar, flagrantly flirting with perjury as he denies or pretends to forget his well-documented connections to Russian officials and his relationships with Kremlin-tied Trump lackeys like George Papadopolous and Carter Page. The second is that Sessions is suffering from severe memory loss, has a poor understanding of US law and is incapable of meeting basic requirements of his job, like properly filling out security clearance forms.

But both of these interpretations lead me to the same conclusion: It is dangerous for Jeff Sessions to be the Attorney General of the United States...

Kushner’s lawyer pushes back on committee request

Washington – A lawyer for White House adviser Jared Kushner pushed back Friday after a Senate committee said he had not been fully forthcoming in its probe into Russian election interference.

Lawyer Abbe Lowell said Kushner encouraged others in President Donald Trump’s campaign to decline meetings with foreign people who “go back home and claim they have special access to gain importance for themselves.”

The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote a letter to Kushner, who is Donald Trump’s son-in-law, on Thursday asking him to provide additional documents to the committee, including one sent to him involving WikiLeaks and a “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite.” ...
