***SPOILER ALERT*** Imperfect Justice by Jeff Ashton - CONTENT DISCUSSION

sorry if ot but could LE or JJ release the recorded meeting now or would it still be illegal or it could get leaked accidently on purpose lol...

Well. I have not read this whole thread, nor have I read the book, but from what you all have posted I must say it almost seems like JA is hoping to get sued for defamation by Casey. Then, in his defense, he can prove by preponderance of the evidence that she killed Caylee (truth is a defense in a defamation case). ;)

LOL - so you think Jeff Ashton is saying "Hey Casey - Double Dare Ya!"

Ohhh - that would be almost too good to be true...:great:

Thanks for that juicy thought AZLawyer!

Would Casey even win a defamation suit against Jeff Ashton??

at trial one of the most distressing & poignant photos was the one of her lil playhouse....I think JA thought so too, as it is one of the (not many) pics in the book. I cry every time I see that pic. it really says it all about who did what for caylee in life. GA adored her, CA adored her. it still is anyone's guess as to why they couldnt take up for her in death. (I totter around in my opinions on GA and CA, generally feeling sympathy for GA, not so much for CA)

anyways relative to your post is caylee & her playhouse. every time I see a playhouse I think of her, and how lucky she was to have it, and how unlucky she was to only have life to not even three years old. I remember a pic on some thread or another, ages ago, of caylee & her many many mr potato heads...and there was some criticism on the overabundance of toys she seemed to have had, my goodness....she didnt get three years of life...granted no one could have foreseen that but at LEAST she had some joy in that time.

makes me think of something I read re a question in a psychology class

to the females: you are a wife/mother and in an emergency situation can save only one, will it be your husband or your child? most women said save the child, I can always get another husband

same question to the males, most of whom said save the wife, I can always make another child

given the choice between saving Caylee or KC, there's no doubt what CA would decide. GA, I'm not as sure

Would Casey even win a defamation suit against Jeff Ashton??

Possibly. In reality she should not have a snowball's chance but this is Casey Anthony--just about the luckiest person I've ever seen. It would depend on which judge got the case and how that judge handled jury selection, I suppose.

Did Jeff say anything that isn't available in a public legal document? Except his opinion of Baez I mean...:great:

read most of the thread, haven't seen this asked/answered

did JA smell good when he hugged you? TIA
Not that I remember...meaning he didn't smell bad...but no overpowering cologne. I hadn't realized how tall he was...and he looked great!

Would Casey even win a defamation suit against Jeff Ashton??

IMO no way.

Did Jeff say anything that isn't available in a public legal document? Except his opinion of Baez I mean...:great:

I believe he said she killed Caylee. So that's a factual statement that Casey could say is false. Then he could say "truth is a defense" and proceed to prove it was true. :) We can always hope...

He's entitled to his opinion and his opinion isn't harming Baez so no case there. Casey was found not guilty but that does not mean innocent, so no case there. My post was mostly sarcasm, with a bit of I do not really trust the court system in this country anymore because things keep happening that should not be happening mixed in.

A summary of what JA has to say about the murder of Caylee, and when OCA likely disposed of her.. for those who can't or won't be buying JA's book:

1. Why did OCA murder Caylee?

JA: Caylee had become too inconvenient. CA pushed OCA over the edge by confronting her on June 15th about OCA's thefts and not taking responsibility for Caylee, but the May 08 chloroform searches indicate that OCA had murder on her mind for some time prior to the date of the actual murder. No way to psycho-anlayze what exactly OCA was thinking on the day she murdered Caylee.

2. How did OCA murder Caylee?

She decided to murder Caylee on June 15, 2008, the night she and CA had a huge fight. OCA did not murder Caylee that night or before George left for work on June 16th; George saw OCA leave with Caylee around 12:50PM on the 16th. She told George they would not be back that night and that she had already told CA this- a lie. She called CA after 2 to tell her the same story.

OCA most likely murdered Caylee between 12:50 and 4PM. OCA murdered Caylee by using chloroform to restrain her, then duct tape to suffocate her. Caylee was in OCA's car trunk when OCA watched movies and shacked up with Tony that night and well into the next day, June 17.

3. When did OCA dispose of Caylee's body-- ie, throw her into the trash?

OCA returned home after 2PM on June 17. No evidence of what she did there on the 17th. Caylee was still in the trunk. OCA spent another night at Tony's with Caylee in the trunk.

In the early afternoon of JUne 18, OCA called home to make sure George had left, then drove there in the car, borrowed the neighbor's shovel, and returned it less than an hour later, looking unused. She then returned to Tony's.

OCA and Tony were together all day and night on June 19th, looking for an apartment.

June 20- "hot" body contest at Fusion.

June 23 was the day OCA had Tony over to her house to break into the shed and steal gas cans.

June 25th was 1st day OCA began mentioned the smell in her car, telling Amy the story of dead squirrels.

June 27th, more texts to Amy about the smell in the car, at the same time she was driving from Tony's to the vacinity of the Ants house. She spent 17 minutes in the area, then drove her car to Amsot's where she abandoned it, after calling Tony to come pick her up. By inference- Caylee was discarded that afternoon. Later that night, OCA partied it up at Fusion.

4. JA finds meaning in the Pattern of OCA's lies early in the 31 days.

Beginning the night of June 18th, through June 26 (a Thursday): OCA's lies to CA get bigger and more elaborate.. throwing in lies of pretend friend's pretend children, etc.

Over the weekend of June 27-June 29 (after Caylee has been discarded), OCA's lies change direction (no longer are day by day and Zanny related), laying the groundwork for the Jeff Hopkins lie to CA. This lie could be used to cover a longer period of time of not producing Caylee.. perhaps indefinitely. Jeff is rich and out of town and has a kid for Caylee to play with.. and wants OCA.

Shortly after June 30, OCA no longer bothers to call CA nightly, which she has done up to this point.

OCA has moved on the all way & isn't looking back.

BBM
- but wouldn't that have meant that Caylee was in the car for over a week? JA said that it was determined that Caylee was in the trunk from 1-3 days and that most likely she was discarded around the time of the shovel incident. Did he say otherwise in the book?

I'm sure the Lawyers are lining up to work Pro Bono to defend Casey's Reputation! :floorlaugh:

I'm so happy she doesn't have two nickels to rub together. hehehe!! she just has to take it. I'm sure if she had any money she would file a case against Jeff. Just a tiny bit of KARMA!! We'll all take what we can get!

Anyone else here on the Amazon pre-order list since September who has not received their book yet? I just got a notice that mine was "mis-shipped" and "mis-routed."

In all my orders from Amazon over the years this is the first time I have had this happen, and it makes me suspicious...like maybe they think I will buy Kindle if they mess up my book order.
I'm a day behind you on the thread, but I don't have my book yet.. I talked to the post mistress this afternoon and she says that it could come tomorrow or it could come sometime next week. I'll have to go earlier than usual for my walk to the post office tomorrow to see if it's there.. Otherwise I'll have to wait until it finally gets here.. (There's no home delivery here.. we all have to go to the post office for our mail.. *sigh* One drawback to living in a very small town.)

All I know is that I will NEVER preorder another book from Amazon. If it's a book that I want bad enough to preorder, it's a book that I'll take a drive to a bookstore for... This is ridiculous.. :banghead:

Maybe she can hire John Morgan when he is done with the ZFG case.

(sorry, couldn't help myself):innocent:

Didn't he state that the info on KC's psychological evaluation was based upon his recollection?

Unless the Judge issued a gag order.......he can "remember or misremember" as he wishes right??

Seemed like a long time to me too, so I read over the relevant sections and scattered related content of his book several times before 1st posting (the overall chronology I posted isn't provided in any one place or chapter, but pieced together from multiple chapters). I just read back over same parts again.

JA never states an exact date of disposal, nor does he definitively state even a range of possible dates (as in, 1-3 days in trunk).

I could be wrong in my inference, but here's what I used (please bear with me, and point me in the right direction if I got what he said wrong)-

Stripping everything else away, there are 2 bottom-line things JA thought would and should be most persuasive to the jury. One was the duct tape he absolutely equated with 1st degree murder, period, enough said.

The second thing was OCA's lies. His chief point wasn't about the sheer quantity of OCA lies, or about how bizarre they were, or any other particular about the lies individually.

What he says is that he thought the jury couldn't miss the importance of the PATTERN in OCA's lies, that OCA took lies to the "end of the hall," before pivoting and going on with a new set of lies.

Thus, in chapter 8 (The 31 days), he matches up, day by day, OCA's actions with the lies she is telling, and the pattern of the lies she is telling. He sees 2 significant mutations in the pattern.

The 1st comes on June 18, the day OCA borrows the shovel. JA's chronology for that day is fairly long and pretty precisely notes the times the shovel was borrowed and returned, then concludes the day's events with only this: "After she was done at her parents' house, Casey went back to Tony's." He gives no indication that he thinks this was the day of disposal .

That same night her lies grow larger and more elaborate... a change in her pattern of lies, again, the pattern seeming more important to JA than the actual content of the lies, but not an "end of the hall" break.

OCA did not have the opportunity to dispose of Caylee on the 19th. She is with Tony all day and night.

The only times he places her at Ants house in the time frame June 20 to 27th:

1. June 23. At house for gas can theft, but with Tony.

2. June 24. At house with cans, George catches her, she prevents him from going near her trunk, so "he didn't get a good look inside the Pontiac's trunk, and at that point had no reason to try. "

2. June 25. First mention by OCA of smell in car, to Amy

3. June 27, OCA again brings up smell to Amy, en route to the Ant house, she spends a short amount of time in the vicinity of Ant house, then shortly afterwards abandons the car.

JA assigns the end of hall break in pattern to Friday June 27 and over that weekend. He says , when "Casey's nightly calls to Cindy took her lies in a strikingly new direction," one he elsewhere says he believes were likely endgame lies.

Elsewhere:

Analyzing the forensics, quotes Dr. Schultz's (anthropologist working with DR. G) Caylee's remains were thrown into the swamp "in late June or early July."

And, condensing by much: the pattern of how Caylee's remains were spread out was consistent with a scenario of somewhat advanced decomp when her remains were first dumped, though her torso was still intact. Schultz, again: decomposition would have taken 2-4 weeks.

Please, anyone else who has JA's book, tell me if I missed something or got something wrong about what he wrote on this.
