I actually believe Chris when he says he knew they were having sex. They stayed in their home. I'm sure they knew they were staying in the same room and they weren't stupid.

I don't disgree that T felt pressure in most of his social circle to remain chaste but I'm sure not all.

Also IMO, T was a show off. He was arrogant. He's the type that would want everyone to think he was holy, like Christ, the perfect Mormon. I'm sure he enjoyed it.

When and where was it ever stated they stayed in the same room at the Hughes? I simply do not remember that being said. IIRC, Jodi said that after everyone went to bed, Travis came to her room and got down and dirty with the oral sex.


I didn't see Travis as arrogant, funny yes, arrogant no. I sure don't feel he thought of himself as Christ like. I do think he kept his sex-capades with her somewhat secretive though. Hell, I kept that from others when I was on the dating scene and it wasn't for religious reasons.

Watched Chris Hughes on Drew tonight...He is a terrible friend...I can't believe he let Jodi sway his opinion about his "best friend"...He barely knew her...I wish the guests on Drew's show would've asked better questions...

She came to their house unannounced (shocker), and complained about travis, and they said, if you're not happy, move on.

He said they did that in the hope of getting rid of her, as well as the idea that she would take it upon herself to break it off.

I've been involved with, seen friends intervene with friends along the same lines.

As for the whole virgin thing. Travis may well have presented different fronts depending on who he was with, but IMO who hasn't?? For example, you certainly don't interact with co-workers the same way you do with your close friends, the ones that know your "secrets," and have been with you through all your experiences; good and bad.

I am not knocking your criticism. Everyone sees from a different set of eyes. I just think, even if he was the biggest AH on the planet, he in no way deserved to be slaughtered, similar to a grizzly bear attack. My son is entering his teens, and that arrogance is starting to show. I stay on him though. Arrogance, and smugness are not attributes I will tolerate from my own flesh and blood.

Disingenuous is right. They were hovering and intruding in the most personal way, as if they we dealing with unruly children. But now, it was really "no big deal" because people are only human. So, on the one hand, fornication is a grave sin, trumped only by murder and requiring serious repentance or excommunication; and, on the other hand, it's to be expected, a minor weakness of the flesh. Not buying it. The gap is too big.

I don't know how anyone living under such impossible standards, which are a set-up for failure and self-loathing and shame, can stay healthy and safe. If your sexual partner is mistreating you, if you don't know how to extract yourself from a relationship, if you're addicted to sex, or if you're just generally feel afraid something bad is going to happen--who are you going to turn to without first outing yourself as a failure? Very dangerous, the way these conditions encourage lying, hiding, isolation. Hughes is trying to pretend these conditions don't exist. I sense the closing of ranks.

I don't always agree with you Emmi but I agree with this. It really is very sad. That is the danger of any religion not just mormonism. It causes people to feel ashamed and dirty for things they needn't be ashamed of. It's why the dt has been able to drag out this whole dirty double life thing.

So it's rather confusing but some of her point was: the naked photos from the bed were from another time. Arias even tells that to Flores in the interrogation.

Here's what:

I may not revere JM as the second coming like many of y'all, but I do think he is smart enough not to call biased witnesses to the stand. Especially those with questionable ethics or agendas. He isn't about to call attention to anyone who can be tarnished upon closer investigation. Hence, not calling the Hugheses or the roomies.

Thankfully, the DT appears not to have the same scruples. But until the verdict is read, I will not breathe easy.

The first bolded part sums it up perfectly, imo.

And the ranks closes a long time ago, also imo. It will be interesting to see whether any of the other talkie type friends of Travis will call Hughes on this total crock.
