where was the hotel he checked into and how far away from the house was it? tia

He checked into a Hampton Inn in Hillsville, Virginia, which is just over the NC/VA state line. It's about a 3 hour drive under normal circumstances.

One of our members, JTF, did it at that hour and made it in under 2.5 hours without speeding, I believe. The biggest thing for me is why leave the night before and only go 2.5 hours when you still have several hours to drive the next day? Why not aim for a destination CLOSER to your appointment when your concern is NOT BEING LATE to a place you have never been, for your NEW job?

ETA it's about 170 miles.

As someone else stated, children often have duplicate pairs of the same jammies. My own children did, and my grandson's next-door do. They have numerous pairs of Star War Lego jammies, SpiderMan jammies, etc. Their favorites are always in plenty. Little girls pink jammies are often very much alike. I had three little girls, and numerous pairs of similar pink jammies. My only granddaughter's favorite color is pink, hence nearly everything she owns is *pink*.

Is there any evidence that Cassidy Young had duplicates of those particular pyjamas?

so her could have put her to bed with the pancol/killed her at 7 and drove to the hotel..

sure would explain the flurry of phone calls about the "surprise purse" when in the past he had not been romantic, etc etc etc or cared about gifts, gestures, etc..

I could see this happening so far (in other words not outside the realm of possible)

(esp with her lividity and body temp her sister described when finding her early afternoon)

very interested now in hearing more about TOD and the autopsy report

yes. Unknown DNA found on a dropper.

"Investigators found two medications that can cause drowsiness - adult-strength Tylenol cold medicine and a prescription drug manufactured by the company where Jason Young worked.

A medicine dropper that contained traces of both substances, as well as Cassidy's DNA, was also seized. Defense attorneys pointed out that Jason Young's prints were not on the dropper or the Tylenol bottle, but a print that investigators could not connect to any of the people tested was on the Tylenol cap."

Her footprints were only in the hallway at the threshold of the bathroom door. No footprints between there and the door of the master bedroom. JMO

Which tells me she was in the masterbedroom at some point when her mommy's blood was fresh, and someone carried her to the bathroom and placed her inside the bathroom, and closed the door to keep her there. Hence all the footprints in the bathroom, over and on top of one another. Then that person went back to the bathroom, cleaned her up, cleaned the blood off her feet, took off her diaper, changed her bloody jammies, took her back to her bedroom where the medicine dropper was found, and put her back into her bed. JMO

so unknown print could have been a latent partial from a store clerk or anyone else in the store that touched the bottle..

JY's absence of prints on the outside of the bottle... could indicate wipedown, etc...

I still am very interested in why an adult med that JY would have samples of is in a pediatric syringe. (adults do not take liquid meds with syringes in general)

thanks otto for the link..

this trial is very interesting and seems HIGHLY circumstantial...

He checked into a Hampton Inn in Hillsville, Virginia, which is just over the NC/VA state line. It's about a 3 hour drive under normal circumstances.

Also it was another 3 hours to the place where he was scheduled for his business meeting the next day. He had off all day Thursday and could have driven and stayed at a hotel right near where he had to be in the morning. I truly believe a reasonable person could assume there was a premeditated plan to his choosing to stay where he did.

To those who watched the 1st trial:

Most here seem to think he's guilty. Were you surprised it ended in a hung jury? What do you think the jurors were most hung up on?

What evidence was the 1st jury not allowed to hear?

I agree Grammy! The whole trip was about 300 miles which takes about 5 hours. I wouldn't break up such a short trip that way; I'd rather get closer, so I could be sure of my route in the morning etc. Not to mention he was unfamiliar with the area, it was a new job, etc.

Nothing surprises me with juries! Lol! OJ and now Casey Anthony should have taught us anything is possible! The first jury was not allowed to hear a portion of the 911 tape where Cassidy young says "Daddy did it" plain as day. I think they cut it out this time too. There are also reports of daycare workers who said Cassidy told the teachers "daddy did it." But nothing like that was brought into trial. Also Michelle was seeing a therapist and they prosecution did not call her, but I heard the therapist is on the witness list this time around?

There's evidence coming up to show he left the hotel shortly after his arrival. The prosecution believes he drove back to Raleigh, killed Michelle, then drove back to the hotel in Virginia. He was late to his business meeting the next morning and a gas station clerk will testify that he stopped there for gas in the early morning hours. This station would have been on his way back to VA from his home in Raleigh.

That's one side of the debate ... that unknown DNA or print evidence on the medicine and the jewelry box was left there by the manufacturer or salesperson. They're talking about the rock now and the question is, if there's DNA on the rock that cannot be conclusively connected to Jason ... can we assume that DNA got there when Jason was at the hotel, or could that DNA also have gotten there years ealier.

There's some debate about the length of time it would take to make the round trip. I expect that the defense will present some evidence about it - perhaps suggesting that the time would be closer to 6 hours ... we'll see.

So, were the cameras in the stairwell on the 2nd , 3rd, and 4th floor as well?

  • #136
Keith Hicks says the bushes were a lot thicker and bushier back then, and that these photos being shown looks like the bushes had been trimmed .

  • #137
The night audit clerk just said that the bushes looked like they had been trimmed, that they were a lot thicker back in 2006. The prosecution is bringing up all sorts of things that we've debated in the last couple of weeks ... it almost sounds like they're answering the questions we've had ... could they have been reading here?

  • #138
That's funny ... he's stumped on rotating the photo

There are 10-12 cameras, so it would be very helpful to know where the other cameras are.
