Just a note of interest here in Brevard. I had to go to the dentist today. While
the dentist, the dental hygienist, and I were waiting for the numbness from the shots to take effect, an interesting conversation ensued.
They started talking about the JY retrial. I told them that I followed the case. The dental hygienist asked me if I thought he did it, and I told her yes. I asked her what she thought, and she said that she thought he did it, too. She said that most of her friends felt the same way.
She said that shortly after he moved up here after Michelle's murder, he attended a wedding that one of her close friends attended, also. Her friend said that watching JY that night gave him the oddest feeling because JY did not look like a man who had just lost his wife.
He got drunk and was "living it up and hitting on every girl in sight." Her friend said that everyone there noticed his behavior, and there were a lot of comments about how odd he was acting given that his wife was murdered just a few weeks before. There was a lot of speculation that night and the days after about just how much did he really miss his wife.
I have heard of his partying stories after he moved up here, but I had not heard of this one.
I cannot imagine losing your wife and unborn son and feeling like getting drunk, being the life of the party, and hitting on women.
I would think that someone who was grieving probably wouldn't even want to go to a wedding that soon after the murder of his spouse, as it would dredge up memories that one wouldn't be ready to deal with yet.
Just another insight into the mindset of JY after the murder. Like I stated last night: In the words of Alan Fisher, Michelle's father, JY was on top of the world after Michelle's death.
